I'd be very surprised if they didn't tbh.

I mean they could easily have taken the approach of filming an R film and then cut it down for the rating. Pretty common actually.

The movie though was more or less confirmed to have been shot with a PG-13 rating in mind.

It's possible some reshoots to film R-rated footage of extra violence could be done but it's doubtful at this point, sadly.

If there's a Rated-R cut I'd bet it's Die Hard 4 style.

Those are Universal Soldier 4 photos. I read that LGF tried to pass them off as EX2 photos because of that bloody Scott Adkins picture.

Still not happy about the PG13 rating. I hope it's not true.

The whole point of the first movie was to bring back the old school action that's missing in today's market. The sequel is totally missing this point... them b*tc*s sold out! :argh:

I will watch this movie when it comes on TV.

Not that the first one was especially great (no, not even by 80s action movie standards, didn't even come close to movies like Rambo II and Commando), but it was rather refreshing and very entertaining.

But with a PG-13? Nah. It's also a lame attempt at milking the cow by screwing over the old fans.

Like I said before. If this movie makes money. But fans of the 80s movies & the first one hate it. That should be a lose for Sly & co

Even with a PG-13 rating, I'll be seeing it in the theater. Let's face it guys, there are loads of action movies that still kick ass, even though they have a PG-13. Sure, we won't have nudity, vulgar language, or gallons of blood, but I'm betting we'll still get a kick ass action flick.

Honestly, I don't remember any nudity in the first one. I barely remember any real vulgar language, and all the blood was poor CGI.

They are going to kick so much butt in this movie! Can't say ass anymore...it's PG13.

There's good PG/PG-13 Action movies yes, but The Expendables is meant to be a throwback to 80s Action movies that were R-rated and often very violent, gory and profane. A PG-13 rating won't allow for that at all.

It's hard to argue against what you've said, tbh. Seems that Sly is intent on making as much money as possible as opposed to actually giving his fans what they have been craving for years. Hell, it really shouldnt come as a surprise - I mean, didn't Sly try to get Van Damme involved in the 1st movie by telling him that he'd make a ton of money [but Van Damme was more concerned about character]?

Seems the allmighty $ is the primary concern here; the fans who grew up on this stuff come second.

Eh, we'll get the unrated cut when it's released on DVD. Though that's not to say I don't want to see the R rated cut in theaters.

^ That's what Van Damme claims, but it seems the true reason is that he didn't want to have his ass kicked by Jet Li in the movie.

In the 3rd one Dolph's character sits down and talks about the evils of drug abuse for around 30 mins. Then cries.

It's pretty powerful.

Until they decide that the 3rd film can't have any drug references in it. Or crying...........

The Expendables 4 will be Rated G when the main characters were kids

Unfortunately it was recently confirmed by Stallone and Terry Crews has more or less confirmed it as well :csad:

Ugh ... That is not good news. I'll hold out hope that there's a last minute decision to stay with the R rating.

I just watched this today. Another good one of Lundgren's. An awesome throwback to 80's action movies, from 1999.
