The Fast and the Furious: Hobbs and Shaw

Plus they also killed a sh**-ton of Russian soldiers, who as far as I could tell, were jut trying to keep a nuclear submarine from being stolen. Although maybe I missed a line somewhere that explained that they were bad guys or something.

Yeah they were kind of militant offshoots of the government. Totally expendable. :o

Indeed, those guys were basically domestic terrorists that had overrun the base from the authorities. Plenty of groups like that in and around Russia!

Was that really Cipher though? We're talking about a woman who was perfectly willing
to have a newborn child murdered, without any guilt.
Obviously she didn't do it, but I saw her as someone who wanted the power just to have it.

I think her various murders were a kind of "You wanna make an omelette, you gotta break some eggs" type deal. Thankfully they resisted the urge to use that cliche line though.

They should spend the whole movie thinking of completely implausible car stunts to get out of every situation, but then just settle on using common sense instead.

This might confirm the rumors of Diesel feuding with Johnson. If so, Diesel is crazy. The Rock is the mountain of charisma that has held up the last three or four F&F movies. With him gone, and the original "family" sadly broken up from the first movie with Paul Walker gone and thus Jordana Brewster written out, there is nothing left to carry the next two F&F movies except for him, Michelle Rodriguez, and Tyrese.

.... Yeah good luck with that.

Diesel apparently had some of Shaw and Hobbs scenes taken out because the test audiences loved them too much. It's pathetic. And funny since other than this and voicing a CGI tree Diesel has nothing else

So only just got round to watching Fast 8. The Shaw's stole the movie as far as I'm concerned.

When Deckard and Owen show up the end I was blown away. And Helen Mirren was amazing.

Just make a film featuring them 3. **** Hobbs and Dom etc

You mean make a Guy Ritchie movie.

Whoa what? First I've heard of this.

Hopefully they come up with a better title.

I hope that is not true because the Hobbs/Shaw scenes were awesome. Despite it making no logical sense whatsoever given the events of the last film, Hobbs and Shaw's banter and friendship made that movie for me.

Yeah what I read was there was going to be a Shaw/Hobbs post credits scene but Diesel wanted it taken out of the film.

Anyone know if Diesel was this controlling when Paul Walker was around (earlier F&F films)?

He took on a producer credit for F&F so that's when he started calling the shots more.

I still remember Paul calling Vin a wuss (censored word) during a live interview with the cast for Fast 6. My jaw hit the floor.

I hope they get a good director for this. That Jumanji trailer really hits home how hard Dwayne Johnson has completely watered down his brand. Outside of James Wan and Michael Bay he hasn't really worked with any real genre auteur. He's set about proving he can open a mediocre film off his name alone that all he does now is make mediocre starring films.

I would love to see Lin back but it sounds like he's jumped over to Aquaman. I mean that's why
they had to kill off Giselle right?

They killed off Gisele because she wasn't in Tokyo Drift. Han was in love with her and she loved him and they planned to go to Japan together, but in Tokyo Drift Giselle isn't there and Han is a a bit of a loner and says Japan is like his Mexico implying he was running from something. So they had to explain why she didn't go to Japan with Han. There was only a few good ways for dealing with Giselle's absence at the time of Tokyo Drift. Either she died before Han left for Japan or they broke up or she was in prison. I guess the writers felt that her dying in 6 seemed like the more compelling direction for the story.

Oops sorry I was talking to someone at the same time and got my Wans and lins mixed up. Bit embarrassing

well, we'll see what happens. I'd have to watch the most recent movie again, because I don't see how Shaw could be accepted after what he blatantly was doing in part 7. But, oh well.

As I remember it Paul Walker originally was the lead of the franchise. However Vin Diesel saved it when he did the cameo to close Tokyo Drift. At the high point in Fast Five The Rock was on SNL with the Franchise Viagra bit. While Vin broke out of the first movie like The Fonz or Urkel the same thing he did to Paul Walker happened to him when the franchise became something to rival the periodic bond films or the next MCU movie.
