Does your book say anything about the protagonists crushing people with giant safes?
Fast Furious 5 ?Does your book say anything about the protagonists crushing people with giant safes?
Yeah, I understand that. But I don't understand how anyone find this movies entertaining. But this is just me. I am sure I find some movie entertaining while others wander the same about me. Circle of movie nerd life.
I can understand that people like fun entertaining ''comedies'' with action. But to have this character on the good side ?

If hollywood can get away with Deckard than everything is possible.
If the character is played by Jason Statham. Definitely preferred him as the villain for once.Audiences have been cheering on the likes of Hannibal Lecter and co. for decades. Mass murder is quickly forgiven if the character is charming enought:
I know he laid waste to that hospital at the beginning of Furious 7 but I don't remember if anyone was actually dead or just beaten up.
big fan of killcount vidsShaw's hospital massacre was basically an audition.
Now, if you take Hobbs and Shaw and put them in their own movie, does that mean they would no longer be in the main F&F series? Taking out The Rock would be a huge blow to the box office attraction of this series.
I remember during the safe-scene, my friend turning to me and saying "These people are monsters". All their talk of family, saying grace, Dominic in particular with his holier-than-thou attitude -the whole gang are a bunch of murderous maniacs in one form another. Taking that into account I guess it makes sense they'd so quickly accept Shaw into their club of hypocritical psychos.
All the more reason to love the series![]()
And I enjoyed every minute of that big dumb goofy movie.
Me too!
I'm still a little unclear on Cypher's plan though. Was she actually intending to use any of the weapons, or just keep them as a threat? At one point she mentions "accountability". I thought her idea was to keep the weapons in her pocket as a way of keeping the world in line from destroying itself, like a constant looming threat, rather than specifically targeting anyone.
The world in line from destroying itself?
It came off more like she'll have all the necessary weapons in the world to do as she wished and make sure the world powers weren't veering in a direction she didn't agree with or (the obvious) else. Pretty standard stuff.
Like I said though, she talked about accountability. My impression was Cypher basically intended on appointing herself the 'world police'. No one launches a nuke or does anything too distract, because if they do she'll be there to launch one right back at them.
I'd have to watch it again, but I remember thinking at the time that Cypher's plan was a little more clever than the usual Bond-villain shenanigans.
Nah, as soon as she delivered it, my Bond-villain meter went off.
If they build on it, great. If not, it's w/e since she was formidable enough as a villain worth detesting.
Was that really Cipher though? We're talking about a woman who was perfectly willingI just liked that Cypher wanted something other than power for the sake of power. The overall intent, as I understood it, was noble in a skewed fashion. Villains with good intentions are the best villains.
Add to that Diesel working with Cipher willingly throughout the newest one. Yes, he always was looking for the opportunity to double cross her, but doesn't know if he'll get it. In the meantime, he helps her steal an EMP and nuclear codes, and finally a nuclear sub. If Shaw failed to save his baby, she would have nuked a city that killed millions, and he probably is complicit of the deaths of dozens in New York when they were raining cars and crashing cars onto of pedestrian heavy sidewalks, and with folks still in the vehicles.
But he is still a hero? Ha ha, no.
