The Fast and the Furious: Hobbs and Shaw

Interesting tidbit. James Wan said on Twitter this week that Fast 7's after-credits scene was filmed, and that Idris Elba was in it.

Man, everything about this movie seems tailored to my sweet spot, The Rock, Jason Statham, Elba as a villain. I wanna be on board with this but....I'm just still not sold on Hobbs and Shaw being buddies and teaming up. I don't care how hard Fast 8 tried to redeem his character, the guy murdered Han and not to mention a whole HOSPITAL full off innocent policemen in Furious 7. The guy is NOT a good guy even though they're trying to sell that it was all one big misundestanding and all for his brother and whatever.

I dunno, anyone else feel this way?

Nope.

These films ain't that deep for me to bother with them plot holes and awful character moments. Just here for the ride, bald man.

Director of John Wick, Rock and Statham, hot women etc. That is it.

Agreed. These films aren't "good" by any means but are a hell of a lot of fun. Those kind of plot issues have zero bearing.

I actually agree with you. The fast&furious movies may be dumb fun, but I'm still semi invested in the characters. When one of my favorites of the crew is killed(han) and his killer is now a good guy with his own spinoff with the rock, I can't help but feel a little irked. I don't think it'll detract too much from the film tho.

Yeah, thats how I feel. These films are mindless fun, but I also am kinda invested in the characters as well. I'm sure I'll get it over it, but it did bother me in Fast 8 how quickly the two became amicable. I did like some of Rock and Statham's repartee but, again, I don't think they should be friends. If they keep them as reluctant allies who get annoyed with each other during their adventure I'm cool with that. But I swear, if I see Shaw having beers at the Hobb's house with his daughter at the end....

Is Rock the reason the F&F franchise went gangbusters and have been hitting a billion in the last few productions?

They should have called this movie "The Bald and the Badass".

He's not the sole reason but I would say his appearance in Fast Five definitely got people interested again. Embracing a multi-cultural cast, filming in exotic locations, and shifting from street racing to a broader adventure theme also definitely helped.

Is the next F&F sequel filming yet? What's happening with that?

The franchise viagra SNL skit. I think that it had more to do with representatives from 2, 3 and 4 joining the core team. The cinematic universe being the major force multiplier

The movies are pretty much big dumb blockbusters that know what they are. They're like movies from the 70s and 80s that feature crazy action, hot chicks and fast cars and give zero ****s if you think it's vapid.

I was being a bit sarcastic due to the fights he and Vin Diesel had over his role in the franchise. You're def right. So many alterations and yet somehow it makes even more $$$

I lmao in Fast 6/7/8 when they were doing special forces-type stuff. Really Tyrese is the guy you have doing all that?

Yeah 1-4 were street racing or crime movies
5-6 were heist movies
7-8 are "spy" movies

I really wonder where this franchise will end up with 9 and 10

I've always said they need to find a way to cross over with the Transformer movies.

Filming starts in April. Word going around that Michelle Rodriguez and Tyrese Gibson are the only people actually signed for it so far. And that’s taking Vin into account. Also, this spin-off’s full name is apparently ‘Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs and Shaw’. Which I love. If I were the studio, I’d want the brand attached to the title.
