- When CM Punk first walked out on WWE and the idea of Daniel Bryan vs. Triple H at WrestleMania XXX began being discussed, people in every aspect of the company did not believe that Bryan would get pushed. Something changed over the past few weeks and that was CM Punk deciding not to come back to the company.
A number of people in WWE have gone from being silent and patient when Punk first walked out to having attitudes like, how dare he not come back and be a part of WrestleMania.
Its insinuated within WWE that the Yes Movement angle with Daniel Bryan on Mondays RAW and some of the verbiage used was meant to be a middle finger to Punk and an underlying message that this could have been you but now it wont be.http://dailywrestlingnews.com/wwe-sends-message-cm-punk-bryan-getting-pushed/
If they really think this stuff will work on him they are stupid. WWE and their hive mind just can't seem to grasp that the company and Mania are not the center of Phil Brooks universe and it's eating them up.It's very old school. I'll just use NJPW as an example. Despite the roster including a number of ex-WWE superstars (Shelton Benjamin, Luke Gallows, Harry Smith, Lance Hoyt, etc) New Japan has a much greater focus on the in-ring action. It's very sports based with promo packages(every time there's a championship match, there's a brief promo package highlighting every single competitor who ever won said championship belt), national press photographers at ringside, press conferences leading up to EVERY show they produce and after etc.
All the storytelling is in the ring. Even despite the energetic foreign commentary, you're able to get a grasp on feuds and psychology pretty quickly.
At it's best, the ring psychology is pretty similar in my opinion. Watch the Okada vs Tanahashi series in 2013 to get a good feel for it.
At it's worst, it can be a lot of stiffing and no-selling.
The biggest difference is that they don't really have characters and tend to work the bulk of their matches as athletic contests, so the story is usually a war of attrition.
In North America the psychology is greatly influenced by your character, which gives greater scope to the stories told in the ring, for instance you have a guy like Mankind who'll destroy his own body to hurt his opponent, where in contrast you have someone like Damien Sandow who will try to win using smarts and avoid pain. I think the variety of sizes and styles in the WWE melting pot broadens the match psychology options.
I bet Punk was just sitting in front of his TV stewing........If they really think this stuff will work on him they are stupid. WWE and their hive mind just can't seem to grasp that the company and Mania are not the center of Phil Brooks universe and it's eating them up.
He's probably quite happy that at least it's Bryan getting the benefits from him walking out.
As noted earlier, Sting participated in a Q&A show at Camden Highlight Club in London last night. One thing worth mentioning is that Sting said that he had fond memories about the beach blonde Sting from the 1990's.
Sting also revealed that while he was in TNA, officials asked him to go back to it, but he then pointed out that he doesn't exactly have the hair to pull it off anymore.

Is the no-selling where the term "fighting spirit" originates from?
War of attrition? Hitting each other with as many moves as possible to bring the person down? Multiple finisher spots? Sounds like indie wrestling. That's good in doses and at the right time, but not all of the time.
If anything, Punk is probably saying, "That's what they should've done with me 2 years ago."
still no more word on Sting and WWE?
Is the whole belief that Japan "stays silent during matches to show respect for the ring work" just a myth?
I've heard that from quite a few people but anytime I see a high profile NJPW match whether it's from the 2013, 2012 or 1984, the audience seems hot for the match.
I'm just curious of where this belief was developed because it doesnt seem to apply to NJPW main events.
