Perhaps Reed can come from a broken home, where he buried himself in textbooks and scientific experiments to escape his drunk and abusive father. And Ben Grimm was the victim of a sex scandal with one of his high school teachers. He's hopeful they'll be able to work it out after her prison sentence is up, but we know better .

I think its that wee Ben is bullied by his older brothers. Makes him 'more interesting' according to the sage Mr. Kinberg.

But it's just more random changes for the sake of it really, like Sue now being a Kosovo orphan (wtf?) etc. To swipe a quote from Hannibal Lector: "like the elaboration of a bad liar."

The 'lie' here being there was ever a pretence this would be an attempt to do the Fantastic Four justice, when it's been anything but from the get go. As the sage Mr. Kinberg tells us, that would be 'difficult'.

Well, they wanted someone to have an Eastern European background and, as we know, there are no Fantastic Four related characters that fit that description.

The crazy part is they completely crap all over us and then Kinberg actually called our criticism "unfair".
