This film seems to share a lot of elements with bad films.

At some point, with the movie being so bad, you'd have to eventually reverse that and say that this film shares a few elements with good films. :o

Yet people thought Iron Man was doomed when Tom Cruise walked away from Tony Stark. Who knows?

Yeah, but how long after Cruise jumped did they find RDJ and begin filming? I doubt they'll keep their schedule and just swap in some guy.

Your seething hatred for this production is so nonchalant and that's what makes it funny.

:hehe: I was pretty nerdraged about it for awhile. These days I would describe my feelings as a combination of mild disbelief and sneering derision, along with a healthy portion of the smug satisfaction that comes from realizing one was right all along.

It's hard to believe back when the first X-Men was coming out, I thought Fox was the coolest. Now they're the goddamn devil.

Yep. Outside of X-Men(which Singer has clearly been responsible for the quality it's had), they've effed up every comic book movie they've touched.

Out of 11 or so comic book movies they've done, only 4 of them have been any good. X1, X2, First Class, and DoFP. The rest are mediocre to outright crap.

Hopefully Deadpool is as awesome as it looks.

And now they're even starting to undo their X-Men stuff, once again. Tatum leaving Gambit(a role in which he explicitly said he wanted to do and had passion for) is only the tip of the iceberg.

I wonder exactly how bad the Gambit script was to get him to leave.

I don't think it's the studio, it's the director. Bryan Singer is a visionary. Josh Trank is an idiot who think's he's a genius.

I really like The Wolverine. I think it's a great film.

As for the rest, mediocre is too kind a word. They were all crap.

And Gambit was being made because of Tatum. It was his baby from the start. They should cancel the film if he leaves.

Kingsman? Kick-Ass?

And just to be clear, this isn't a "I hate FOX" thing.

Their Planet of the Apes movies have been fantastic. I'm very much looking forward to Deadpool and The Peanuts movie looks fantastic as well.

I just know inevitable trainwrecks when I see them, and their comic book movie division is on a collision course.

If you pay peanuts, you get monkeys. And Fox seem to have a better time with both of them than FFINO.

Their comic book movie division has been on a collision course for years now. Like you said, their track record is littered with failures and this is just another one. Again, this isn't a Fox dog-pile, these are just facts.

PG? That's certainly surprising.
Didn't Teller flat out say that this movie "isn't for kids"?

Sounds like it isn't as edgy as he wanted it to be. That or Josh Trank made an R-rated FF film in his rough cut and Fox watched it with horror before demanding reshoots.

This is how normal thing talks, "Holy cats! I'm the everlovin' blue-eyed Thing. Oy vey! Wotta a Revoltin' Development."

This is probably what Josh Trank wanted to do with Thing but couldn't, "Holy ****! I'm the ************' blue-eyed Thing. **** ****! Wotta a ******' development!"

I had a look at the ratings Alberta gives to other movies and a PG is what I was expecting to see, Man from UNCLE and MIRN all got the same. I'm expecting a 12A from the BBFC though.

The last PG Marvel movie that came out was FF2, a franchise ender. Just something to think about.

Canadian PG, which is a different rating metric. IMDB tells me it's PG-13 in the US.

That said, they've very clearly adjusted the tone in post. That's typical with crap films. Dragonball Evolution was filmed as a PG-13 and edited down in post (a death scene was slightly altered and a "bad word" was removed, both of which can still be seen in the deleted scenes). It released as a very short kid targeted film. *sees posts talking about short Fantastic Four runtime* Well there ya go...
