It was. The pilot was filmed as a comedy.
And it was badly received
How unfortunate for all

Speed Force effect in action looks good in this still

The suit really only needs a few minor changes to look great, the logo is really the only problem I have with the suit...

That looks absolutely amazing, and is easily achievable with minor changes.

Can someone do a manip with the mouth opening smaller and similar to that of the comics, and this is new with just gold circles on the ears and lighting bolts engraved instead of the lighting bolts protruding?

I never liked the ear pieces from the comics. I always wished they would change that up with just an embossing, engraving or pattern lighting bolt.

Looking at the costume I see the reason they made the belt the way they did. The top is a jacket. To avoid making it noticeable they had to make the belt bigger. If the belt was all yellow it probably wouldn't look right.

Bottom line is, because its a tv show and due to production schedule and budget your never going to get a movie quality costume. They realistically don't have the resources to have thousands of costumes and most likely the team of people required to put them on.

As for the leather look. They tried to create some cohesiveness with the cowl and chest. I would have liked to have seen less on the pants. I also feel like the lighting around the belt looks like scribbles, IMO it could have done without.

All that said, I like it and the great thing about tv is that there is always room for improvement unlike a movie that requires the sequel to see changes.

It looks home made and therefore plausible that someone with a moderate skill level could pull it off. I think this is intentional on the part of the show's producers and creative team. They're not IMO going to shoot their wad in the pilot by having him be fully formed and at optimum speed/skill level before they go to series.

Barry discovering his full capabilities and what limitations he might have is going to be a big part of what hopefully keeps people coming back week after week. For instance, what effect will his speed have on people and things around him? Will this limit how fast he can go in certain situations? I hope we get some interviews from the producers soon that'll give us an idea of what their particular take on The Flash will be. Is he only going to be able to run in the hundreds of miles an hour?

For the life of me I can't understand why the inside of the insignia isn't white. I simply can't get over it. I can live with everything else considering it's a TV show, but the red insignia just makes no sense to me at all. For them to nail the cowl and **** up the chest piece I'm simply flabbergasted.

Fat Martian Manhunter....Barry is a mook....good lord.

I've seen the 1994 Fantastic Four, the 1990 Captain America, Howard The Duck, but not even I could sit through this ****...

I use to proudly brag about owning all these fine pieces of Americana film on DVD. Until someone said "Oh, bragging about that is like bragging about having syphilis."

You can tell that the person who designed Arrow's costume was responsible for this one. She did not deviate much from the template of Arrow. That approach just doesn't work for a character like The Flash. What's good for the goose in not necessarily good for the gander. I do not despise The Flash's costume like some. It could be much better, but the essence of the character is represented.

I think its because they wanted to use the yellow on red symbol as the show's logo.

Well to be honest none of us understand the reason for some of the choices they've made in regards to the costume's details. I'm sure though, that in due course it will all be explained and will make more sense. Or not lol!

^ I trust that also.

When I first saw Arrow I hated that he didn't have a mask. Then some producer explained why and it just made so much sense.

Seeing the two costumes juxtaposed like that shows how they are keeping the The Flash consistent with Oliver's costume. As they are in a shared universe that seems very sensible. Barry is sort of obsessed with Arrow, ( the only super hero he knows )so it makes sense that he'd be influenced somewhat by that costume when creating his own.

Now I wonder how the new DareDevil suit looks like

That pose is just so weird though... it makes me uncomfortable

Hah no disagreement there.

In the real costume my big complaint is just how massive that belt is. I run A LOT and I can tell you having something like that on would get irritating real fast.

That and they should have the costume be all one material.

yep yep agreed with all this. the belt is definitely the worst part of the costume. i saw a manip where someone colored the belt yellow and it looked a little bettter.

Can someone repost that manip? They color corrected the suit, gave him yellow belt and yellow boots

They just need to make the belt look like it does in the comics - just a gold line to break the red color.

That was me, here's the manip, think I may have gone a bit overboard on the red:

And here's something a bit closer to changes I could see happening
