The Flash The Flash Costume Thread

I guess it's possible to like and not like a costume at the same time, because that's where I am with it. I love the cowl, which I always believed would be the hardest part to get right and not looking ridiculous. Getting Green Arrow's costume right must have felt like a walk in the park compared to having to make a frigging red cowl with pointy out ears work on a tv show, and they pulled it off. Which I guess is what makes me annoyed at how they then seemingly dropped the ball when it came to the boots, gloves and that belt oO

They detract from the costume overall, but overall I still really dig it.

I think they need to add a muscle suit effect but for his legs. And this is no slight against Gustin, building sizeable leg muscles (calves etc) is so much harder then building arms and upper torso muscles. I think adding a defined shape to the thighs and calves will give the legs a really great muscluar look, like a 100 metre sprinter, rather then a long distance runner look (i.e a bit of a stick figure).

Although I don't believe this is the first evolution of his suit and I can't see him updating it through episodes (it looks like a finished and complete suit, we're the ones who want to see it changed) perhaps there is time for them to tinker with it moving from the pilot to a green lit series.

Gustin's build is perfect for one simple reason, he actually looks like a runner, and I would love to see builds like this become more common in the comics.

his build is actually bigger than that of some Olympic level distance runners

Exactly, thank you

He's lean but still has some musculature, but this guy has legs as thick as his arms.

HOLY CRAP... Are the people in charge of this show living in the same world as us? Y'know...the world where for the past decade or so comic book properties have been taken relatively seriously, and often pretty visually faithful. I thought the first two pics released(the one with the helmet and the one where he's leaned down and running towards the camera) looked a bit dodgy in some spots but not too bad. But now seeing it in all it's "glory"...this thing is horrendous. Like, "multiple people responsible for this should be fired" level horrendous. This costume would fit right into the universe of the failed Wonder Woman pilot from a few years back.

That's what I'm hoping for at this stage in regards to the costume. Maybe this incarnation is a Star Labs made suit. I think it was inferred that with the explosion that happens at the particle accelerator, Tom Cavangh's character sponsors Barry Allen as The Flash as PR stunt or other sinister motives. Maybe later on they have a falling out and Barry designs a suit on his own. I hope my theory pans out!

But right now I'm really hoping for just a great pilot that will make me less disappointed with the costume. And maybe in time the costume evolves.:woot:

It is far from the greatest comic book adaptation of a costume, but I for one do not care. Its still The Flash. It is a television show on a smaller network. For what it is, and with the budgetary constraints that come with smaller network productions, it is a serviceable costume. If this were a big budget film, then I would expect far better.

Its the CW. They ranked 5th in all age demographics behind ABC, NBC, CBS, and Fox.

Consistent with that CW quality. ;)

The Justice League pilot Flash costume looks like its made for a parody

That was the least of the problems. Did you see Martian Manhunter?
Nope, I think

EDIT: He looks like the villain from the first Power Rangers movie

The suit really only needs a few minor changes to look great, the logo is really the only problem I have with the suit...

Well at least the last 2 had the Flash RED! I do not understand this 5 shades of Ricardo Montalbán burgundy Corinthian leather costume they made for him.

Niiiice  Also re-affirms for me how great the cowl is already.

When I think about the possibilities for this series, I get seriously excited :woot:

Throw some lighting on there and were good

I find it hard to believe that the costume won't get incremental changes as the storyline/series develops. I'm with the poster that says all it really needs is revised belt, boots, gloves ( one piece )and the white logo. Small changes, easily done and the the suit will be awesome. It's got kind of a steam punk look, and the more pictures we see of Grant in various poses the better it gets.

Fat Martian Manhunter....Barry is a mook....good lord.

I've seen the 1994 Fantastic Four, the 1990 Captain America, Howard The Duck, but not even I could sit through this ****...

A few modern tweaks, but they maintain the overall classic look. I like it a lot

I think my issue with the costume is that it doesn't look like something that is conducive to running really fast. If this was a character like Daredevil, I'd be fine with it because it looks a bit bulky like it could have kevlar underneath or some type of light body armor. But it just feels like the Flash should have something that looks more like Under Armor, like those suits Olympic speedskaters wear.
