Holy ****. Yeah wow. I see a lot.of Arrow in there. :-/

I am going to assume you are being a condescending jack-wagon. I did not say that they look alike. I am saying Arrow influenced the design. the two-material pattern (leather and fabric), the "zip up jacket style" top. The point is, the costume designer clearly doesn't understand that the style of costume that Green Arrow wears, is not what The Flash should be wearing.

The more I see it, the less I like it :csad:

A red version of this would be better (seriously):

"Oh it looks like spandex and spandex looks silly!"
Oh yeah, cause leather looks amazing for The Flash.

Hah no disagreement there.

In the real costume my big complaint is just how massive that belt is. I run A LOT and I can tell you having something like that on would get irritating real fast.

That and they should have the costume be all one material.

The main problem with the belt is that the chevron shaped buckle kind of looks like a fanny pack. Maybe he has his money/travelers checks and shades in there!

Couldn't agree more. It's like the costume designer just "had to" come up with something other than spandex to justify her fee. Apologies to Oscar winner Colleen Atwood. Hey maybe this is just the mark one version of the costume. Here's hoping that it is!

I think the "fanny pack" as you call it is his mobile crime scene tools.

Seeing the two costumes juxtaposed like that shows how they are keeping the The Flash consistent with Oliver's costume. As they are in a shared universe that seems very sensible. Barry is sort of obsessed with Arrow, ( the only super hero he knows )so it makes sense that he'd be influenced somewhat by that costume when creating his own.

It just seems to me like a lazy attempt by the Arrow costume designer to do The Flash. Flash: "yeah, I'll wear a zipper leather suit, just like Arrow!" VS "I'll wear a costume disguise with a mask like Arrow".... think the latter is more accurate as far as Barry's inspiration goes. Not a carbon copy of Arrow's pattern.

I use to proudly brag about owning all these fine pieces of Americana film on DVD. Until someone said "Oh, bragging about that is like bragging about having syphilis."

That's cool. Yeah I wasn't bragging about having seen them, just saying how bad the JLA tv pilot was. Although the DVDs are a bit rarer than syphilis so you may have been onto something back then... ;)

Nope...that was exactly my point. Arrow does not = Flash. The costume designer seems to have missed that. This seems like a lazy attempt from the Arrow costume designer to do Flash... almost like they just took the Arrow designs, drew a Flash mask on them and colored it burgundy - the concepts are so similar.

I think my issue with the costume is that it doesn't look like something that is conducive to running really fast. If this was a character like Daredevil, I'd be fine with it because it looks a bit bulky like it could have kevlar underneath or some type of light body armor. But it just feels like the Flash should have something that looks more like Under Armor, like those suits Olympic speedskaters wear.

My thoughts exactly – the way I see it, with the speeds Barry goes he needs something aerodynamic... I also envisage the suit to be of a shine material as is often portrayed in the comics... almost a metallic quality to it. Also, I hate how DC in particular seems to almost be afraid of portraying the 'comic' book character, instead of a scarlett speedster they give us a dark red speedster... make him more comic acurate for gods sake – look at Spiderman, it works! Hell, you even have S.T.A.R. labs to use as an excuse as to where his costume comes from – they could develop a low-friction, aerodynamic suit to his spec.
All that said – the cowl is pretty damn good!

A poster a few pages back asked if it was possible to both like and hate the costume at the same time... well thats where I am at the moment.

And how do you know that this won't actually be the case at some point if it goes to series, and is successful enough for The Flash to run ( hmmm, potential pun there! ) for a few seasons?

Anyone feel like doing a manip of the cowl to make it resemble the comic with a smaller mouth piece and not that huge joker grin?

Also, the traditional red color sans belt?

From the neck down I would rather have this one

I think it's awesome below the neck. Could someone manip the Gustin cowl onto that Gosling manip?

I don't like it, it's more traditional but the red material looks like a carpet.

When the cowl picture was released, I actually thought that it would look a lot like that Gosling pic from the neck down.

The Gosling pic now shows me why Flash with goggles/visor doesn't work. Really makes the costume look more generic.

That was me, here's the manip, think I may have gone a bit overboard on the red:

For this still, I prefer looking at the more vibrant red manip more than the dull original color

Isn't that the new costume of Johnny Quick from the Crime Syndicate?

I actually like the suit, sure it could of been lighter but It quite cool.

This looks better but the default is fine:

Default is not fine, it's not even red. I wonder how many people would like Superman with a dark green and red suit on. That's Super-XmasMan not Superman. I'm sorry I will watch the show and support it but the costume is a turd.

There are 285 shades of red I'm sure the Grant Gustin falls into one of them.

Comparing the costume we've got to Superman wearing a green suit?

Congrats, Brawl, you just made Kevin Smith seem rational by comparison.

Um... that's in a whole different color category, not even a logical comparison. And that suit is definitely red.
