There were a couple of scenes I disapproved or had a few criticisms about in the pilot episode, but I was on board with this episode 100%.

I also loved the opening where Barry, instead of doing the regular introduction that we expected, says himself that the real story begins now.

Grant also said that in an interview regarding the pilot episode. He said the second episode is the beginning of what delves into a deeper story, and we're seeing signs of that already.

Tuesday is officially a day I look forward to now.

I thought this was better than the pilot and I was wondering if they were even going to address Barry needing to constantly eat. It was well done and I hope they can keep up the pace.

When someone say this series wont get enough popularity.

Watched it last night. Quality. It's very easy to like. From this I'd have to say it's #1 over Gotham and Arrow for me. At the moment. Very promising.

I agree that it's definitely better than Arrow (and Smallville) but I have to say the actress playing Caitlyn is awful.

I don't have a problem with her.I think she does a good job playing the "all business" type. She kinda reminds me of a somewhat stuffier Tina from the original show.I'd like to see her and Barry hook up romantically at some point.

Iris is ok.The fledgling reporter stuff was a step in the right direction. At least she's got that going for her now.

If I remember correctly (and my knowledge of the Flash comics is admittedly not extensive.) Iris married Barry and was killed by Prof Zoom. While,I'm pretty sure they won't have them marry,I wonder if they'll go the Gwen Stacy route and have Zoom kill her after she discovers he's the Flash.:hmm

If she dies, then I think Barry must do something time related to save her (in the comics) because they have kids and grand-kids (Bart Allen and Jenni Ognats). I never read the Barry comics and only read a little of the Wally ones. Most of my Flash related exposure was through Bart as Impluse in his comic, and the team up comics (Young Justice and Teen Titans volume something)

Yet another fantastic episode. Grant's killing it. Boy can sell both comedy and genuine drama with so much ease. This is two episodes in a row now where the quiet emotional moments really got me all choked up. Loved the Wells bit at the end. The mystery continues to grow!

I remember in the 90's Flash. He would get so hungry and you would see all of this finished food around his apartment.

Heh, yeah. There was Chinese food, pizza boxes and Tupperware containers everywhere. And then he would rush to clean up his house.

In terms of a nice starting point for someone who wants to get familiar with Flash's comics, what would some of you recommend?

The New 52 trade paperbacks are a good way to get started since they are basically a reboot. I really love Francis Manapul's art and story work.

For classic stuff, anything by Mark Waid is awesome. He is basically synonymous with Wally West.

Might also want to check out Geoff Johns' run. Rebirth all the way through Flashpoint is good reading in my book.

Or, if you want to really go back to the beginning, The Flash Omnibus Volume 1 hardcover came out at the end of September. Over 850 pages of Silver Age Barry Allen comics (including the origin of Barry, Wally, most of the best enemies). I bought it and am enjoying it so far.

Barry-specific and more recent stuff, Rebirth, The Dastardly Death of the Rogues and (post-New 52) Move Forward if you want to get into the newest continuity.

Liked this episode more then the pilot, mainly down to the pacing, I just preferred it here.

I could do without the cheesy lines, but they couldn't spoil the better moments - I'm enjoying any scene with Wells or Joe West. Can't wait to watch this show and its characters grow like Arrow did.

Your responses are much appreciated, famicommander and Mister J.

I was thinking about making a visit to my local comic shop as well as Barnes & Noble either later today or tomorrow, so I'll keep those suggestions in mind and see what I can get my hands on.

I thought it was funny how in the beginning of this episode Barry started to do an intro like what Oliver does on Arrow. But instead he just says "You already know who I am, so let's get to the point".

Sat through the encore last night and forgot how much I laughed the first time around at "Heeeeeey, Caitlin :O". :funny:

Cool. I imagine most of the recent stuff (Wally and Barry) should be readily available at a shop. You'll likely only need to dig around the internet if you want to go back for classic Barry stuff (pre-'85)... which is good too.

I didn't really care about Multiplex's "exit" as he wasn't that great a character.

And with regard to Simon Stagg...Stagg Industries is going to need a new head scientist/genius.

The villains have been lame, though Multiplex was better IMO. Eddie and Iris are not interesting so far and the love triangle crap is totally unnecessary, typical CW. Also, there's too much dumb exposition sometimes, like the one starting the episode, but overall, the show is still good, much better than Gotham and AOS. Grant Gustin is doing a great job, he's a better actor than Stephen Amell, the ones that bashed him for not being blond, too skinny, and all the shallow fanboy nonsense should feel pretty embarrassed right now.

I just got home.

I picked up Move Forward of the The New 52 series. Read a little bit at the store, will try to get through more later tonight. I definitely enjoyed the first few pages that I got through there.

I'm more of an old soul in terms of comics, so I figured I'll balance that out by finding the older issues online while trying to familiarize myself with some of the newer arcs. I'm big on owning physical copies too, so I'll try to follow this series as long as I can. Plus, I'm not that far behind as to where the series is right now, so I should be able to catch up if I'm consistent.

Do let me know if you have any other advice

My advice regarding New 52 is to stick with it. The first arc isn't bad at all, but the series really starts firing on all cylinders when Captain Cold and Barry have their first confrontation.

I'll keep that in mind, thanks!

I'm reading it now.

I'm really enjoying this show so far, but I've noticed that they've run into an issue that I've always struggled with when it comes to Flash in the comics.

They have to dumb Flash down in order for his villains to compete with him.

I mean, it really shouldn't have been any trouble for Barry to deal with Multiplex in this, no more than it should be for Flash to handle a large group of normal people, because that's all Multiplex is. The times they had Multiplex mob him was because Barry slowed down and tried fighting at normal speed, and that was just a bit silly.

Unfortunately, I don't know what they can do about it, because the comics have to do this all the time as well. The Flash actually has pretty ridiculous power levels, but that also unfortunately makes it hard to have villains that can compete with him.

This is why I can't wait for Zoom, one of the few villains where they don't have to go out of their way to make him into a threat.

Aside from Zoom, Grodd, and the Rogues...who else does Flash have as villains that could serve as the "big bad" of a season?

^ I can't answer your question, but did want to point out that we know that the Rogues - or st least Captain Cold - aren't going to be "Big Bads" (at least not for Season 1), and I don't think Reverse Flash - whomever it turns out to be (other than Wells, since we know it won't be him) - is going to be either.
