The fact that Barry and Felicity kissed belies the idea that "they're perfect for each other but aren't feeling attraction"; at this point, neither of them really knows what they want, which was the entire point of that scene.

I don't see them ending up in a long-distance relationship, but mutual attraction still looms large over their relationship dynamic and more than likely will for a while.

They're clearly attracted to each other and they shared a nice kiss but I think it's pretty clear, at this point, they're both into other people feelings wise. I think they know what they want right now, but they can't have it either with the objects of their affection, nor with each other. Still though, they like each other and they could still occasionally spend time together assuming neither of them ends up in a committed relationship on either show .

There's a simple explanation, at least for me. In my opinion all four episodes of Flash are better than every episode of Arrow, and I've seen them all.

I disagree. I really like both, and I know it's unfair to compare them, but I think Arrow is the better show.

But that doesn't mean Arrow is bad. It took a long while for Arrow to grow on me; it's an acquired taste. The acting/writing/dialogue are all a noticeable step down from Flash...

No way. Arrow does all of that better. But again, it's really unfair to compare the two, because Arrow has had time to experiment and evolve and work out the kinks. It almost has to be the better show.

Don't get me wrong, I like The Flash, I think it's an enjoyable show so far, but I really disagree in regards to Arrow. I think it's a lot better than The Flash, there is a lot less awkward and contrived dialogue, and the plots feel a lot less trope-heavy.

I like Cisco and Kaitlyn but they have some really awkward line readings too often for my liking whereas Diggle and Felicity just feel more natural.

Though I agree where Diggle and Felicity are concerned, I don't think it's a Cisco/Caitlyn problem so much as it's just a Caitlyn problem. Cisco is supposed to be an awkward nerd, and the actor does a fine job of selling it. Panabaker is just unnecessarily OTT.

Anyway, I liked this episode. Still don't like Wentworth Miller and thought he felt really hammy but I still enjoyed the episode regardless.

Really? I liked him. I thought he was cool (no pun intended). He reminds me a lot of Tahmoh Penikett.

I enjoyed seeing Felicity this episode especially in her role as a mentor. In Arrow, she's just a part of the team, but here we really get to see her show off how experienced and capable she's become. Captain Cold was awesome.

So, this episode was utterly awesome.

The action was on point. The opening multi-tasking scene was totally cool. The train rescue was awesome. Barry racing to save the guy and not making it. It even made sense when he got hit by Snart saving Joe, much more sense than him being jumped by three people. It was a bit sketchy that Flash didn't stop him from shooting the floor, and I know some people mentioned the fact that the crew got there super quick, but I didn't notice at the time, still don't care too much.

The drama was on point, they did Felicity and Barry so right, the fact that they didn't connect, but connected on how they didn't connect. The whole double date the way that was set up the way it worked out was just so very solid. Dad's issue with Iris and Eddie was so legit. Cisco's development was absolutely genius. Harrison's dark side being on display was genius. Joe's moment with Eddie "Oh yeah, that's something I do with my friends" was just a show stopper for me. I literally paused the DVR, it was just so cold.

Speaking of cold, Snart's attitude was perfect. Perhaps not the being able to plain old talk a guy with a gun to his head out of shooting him with a threat, that seemed a bit much, but the 'do you wanna end up like the door' made sense. I think they overcooked him a bit, his 'criminal sense' was a bit too powerful, and the whole 'my dad's in jail too' seemed contrived to me. It made total sense that he knew Cisco wouldn't shoot him. It's hard to manipulate someone who isn't afraid of dying with a gun. It's a good arc though, so I look forward to more good things.

This was amazing episode, the best one yet. Amazing train scene, something which we see more in the movies than in TV series . Acting was great and Miller was great addition for Flash acting crew.

I think Flash is the better show because there aren't any characters I hate. On Arrow, I HATE Thea ad I fin the romantic love triangles to be really annoying and stupid. Everything else is great, but I really hate Thea. On Flash, I find Barry to be a more likable character then Oliver, and the romantic love triangles are boring, but I don't hate them like I do the ones on Arrow. On top of that, I just prefer Flash because I prefer Superman and Spider-Man like characters to the more gritty and dark ones. It's just a matter of preference. However, this is all JUST my opinion.

I was blown away at how they were able to pull off the effects in the train sequence. That was an intense moment, and it was truly a great way to showcase Flash's speed.

This show seems to get better and better every week, honestly. I also liked how they went in a different direction by letting the villain live to see another day, going against the assumption that he might be defeated by the end of the episode.

Oh man that train rescue!! Awesome episode!

Yep, the train rescue scene was fantastic, and definitely one of the stand-out scenes of the episode, if not the series.

The other, of course, was Wentworth Miller performance as Captain Cold which he absolutely nailed.

The only problem I have with this episode is how Team Flash showed up so quickly to the train crash scene.

That was a little odd.

I presume that a bit of time elapsed between Barry saving all the people and collapsing from exhaustion and Captain Cold arriving and freezing him. After all, CC had jumped from the train before it crashed and the crashing train seemed to travel a fair distance before all of the carriages came to a complete stop. So, as a minimum, Captain Cold would have needed to walk from his landing point (after jumping) to the wreckage, search the wreckage and locate The Flash.

And maybe Captain Cold engaged in a bit of extra monologuing before Team Flash arrived.

And maybe that part of the train tracks isn't too far from Star Labs and Cisco, Caitlin and Felicity were able to easily carry the light weight vacuum cleaner to The Flash's position (thanks to a tracking device in his costume), even though 2 out of the 3 were wearing impossibly high heels.

Re: Flash's Powers and Abilities

Does anyone know whether The Flash is meant to have super-strength. I know that he's meant to be able to put a lot of "speed" into a punch, which would make it an impressive punch (and his body is more durable, so it can absorb the shock of throwing such a punch), but I'm not clear on his day-to-day strength. Previously, we've mainly seen The Flash knock people out of the way to save them, but in this episode he was carrying people far heavier than himself and at times carrying multiple people. I doubt Barry Allen has the strength to carry two adults, even if only for a few seconds, so I guess that, as The Flash, he has a degree of super-strength. Probably not enough to crush a car, but enough to carry at least two people for a few seconds and enough to carry one person for maybe 30 seconds (when he took the shot guard to the hospital).

And does The Flash have some kind of protective aura that absorbs some of the "whiplash" effects of moving at a high speed for people he saves. I would have thought that grabbing someone out of mid-air at the speed that he travels could snap their neck. I know the same arguments can be made about Superman catching people who are falling since the impact of falling into his arms would probably break their back, but I was just wondering whether it was some kind of a confirmed power or whether it's simply a comic book power that all super-heroes seem to share when it comes to saving people.

Personally, I really don't get the complaints about the romantic entanglements. They've always been a big part of the comics and besides, Eddie and Iris is ten times better than any of the various Arrow subplots. That scene in the squad car was great.

this was easily the best episode to date so far. Damn Wentworth Miller performance as Captain Cold was cool damn he nailed the part.

I loved the continuation of Felicity and Barry's chemistry that was first establish in Arrow, hope to see more in future episodes.

Oh I like that Wells was so damn pissed at Cisco.

the effects used for the Captain Cold Gun was sweet effects.

nice cameo of Heatwave at the end.

I knew this was going to be a problem... they constantly change what Barry can do or does, to accommodate for the plot. He could've taken the cold gun from Snart in the train and knocked him out while at it. So if Barry is going to be this slow or dumb every time he faces the Rogues... :whatever: is just terrible writing. And letting Cold get away like that was not only stupid, but irresponsible from their part. They should've kept him there till the police arrived, it would've made more sense. If you want Cold free to form the Rogues, then he should've escaped for good after leaving the train. And last but not least, the shipper pandering with Barry and Felicity (the kiss!), so unnecessary, typical CW crap.

This is why comic book shows are not going to win any Emmys soon, the writing is just mediocre and dumb. I will keep watching as long as I'm entertained, but I won't say is among the best tv series just because is fun or comicbooky.

I know exactly what you mean.:funny:
I can't stand arrow and was expecting this show to be about the same.
The fact that they were connected and GA was even in that one flash advert wasn't really helping.
Went into it with incredibly low expectations and ended up loving it.

I liked it SO much that I thought 'Hey,maybe I'll give arrow another shot"
Caught the next new episode and......nope.:barf:

Ok, you just prefer more cheese and dumb fun stuff over the more grounded Arrow. Flash is a more popular character anyway, but I can't say the show is better, though is too soon to compare. For now, Arrow has more interesting characters, we'll see if that changes later on.

Really good episode. They did a nice job setting up Captain Cold as a formidable opponent and played homage to the comic look, but without making it look cheesy.

It was great to see Felicity in the episode as well.

Not sure what the deal was with Wells and Cisco at the end tho.

For what it's worth,I think Flash is better than Arrow's 1st season so far.I'd also say it's better than this season of Arrow so far.But I don't think it's reached the highs of some of Arrow's 2nd season. Some of that was magic that has yet to be surpassed.

This has been driving me crazy... why don't you put a space after your punctuation marks?

Oh... the things that I would give to keep Felicity as a permanent member of Team Flash! This woman's chemistry with Barry and everyone else was phenomenal! Her romantic subplot is bearable and the actress that plays her is gorgeous. I'm too behind on Arrow to catch up and start watching that show, but she's making me want to now.

And man... Vibe really got ripped on this episode. The emotional stuff was excellent which was my biggest gripe about the show so far. The anger and regret felt very real and the guy who plays Cisco gave a very compelling reaction performance to all of it. This was his best episode yet.

And Leonard Snart was pure gold. Can't wait for the rest of the Rogues! I'm growing increasingly more worried about the Flash movie with Ezra Miller due to how hard this TV series is nailing the Flash so far.

That train scene was such a heroic moment. I rarely get vocal when watching even my favourite shows but I literally yelled "This is epic!" as it was happening haha!

So damn cool

This has been driving me crazy... why don't you put a space after your punctuation marks?

I've heard this criticism before, but I don't know what the problem is.Whenever I've read books, posts, whatever,I've never seen punctuation used in any manner inconsistent with the way I've used it.

Now using the above paragraph as example:

I've heard this criticism before , I don't know what the problem is . Whenever I've read books , posts , whatever , I've never seen punctuation used in any manner inconsistent with the way I've used it .

^Is this somehow the excepted practice these days?I don't see the big deal.

I think you're asking for a lot when it comes to superhero stories. In the sense that, applied to any character with superspeed or with a weakness to any weapon a criminal could use, that question of "Why did they just...." will be there.
Why does Batman refuse to kill violent psychopaths? Why isn't Superman constantly easily winning fights with superspeed and heat vision from a distance?
Sure, there are plenty of dumb actions superheros take or don't take because of writing that are legitimate. But sometimes you've just got to go with the idea that a character that can move as fast as Barry can be threatened by a weapon or afraid of pain/death enough to make him hesitate to give him a challenge. Otherwise we'll either just be seeing episode after episode of Barry easily defeating non-challenges or a bunch of fellow speedsters. That sounds boring.

It was. Whoever writes Joe West's dialogue deserves a raise.

"Why would God need to rob banks?
"You're not bulletproof... wait... are you?"

"Oh... that's right, that's stuff I do with my friends."
