I actually really like and enjoy the Friday the 13th remake. I think it's one of the better horror remakes.

Same, disappointed the sequel never happened, if I remember correct there were rumors that it would've taken place in winter which could've been a fun way to freshen things up.

Yeah there could have been some incredible visuals with blood on the snow etc.

Jason killing people with snowmobiles and icicles would have been great.

I could go for some Jason machete mayhem in a snowy cold setting

Interesting that this new comes after it was announced that a new Halloween film has been fast-tracked.

As of right now, I'm much more intrigued by the idea of a new Halloween film. A new Jason origin story? The recent F13 remake basically served as an origin story, and unlike Rob Zombie's horrendous Halloween films, I feel like the F13 series could have simply continued on after the remake. The remake was at least serviceable and they could have salvaged enough from it to make more films, rather than letting the franchise lay dormant for several years and then deciding to start all over again. Even RZ's Halloween was granted a sequel.

Not a horror guy, but I heard on Collider Movie Talk that their is an actual Friday the 13th on October 2017.
A slasher movie two weeks before Halloween? It sells itself. I know fans wouldnt want them to rush this out, but I think that's a gold mine. And I'm sure the studio is thinking the same

Also the next Halloween movie is being fast tracked for a Halloween 2017 release too.

Interested to see how that plays out.

I'd like to see a standalone movie in the series. Like the 'predators' of Friday the 13th. Or tie it in with the Evil Dead. Otherwise it just feels redundant.

the 2009 installment produced by Michael Bay was laughable.
From what I remember he made Jason out to be a homicidal wilderness survival hermit like Rambo gone Ape ***** .

Once again making some believable or top notch origin for someone or something like Jason really isnt needed.
I felt thats the HUGE mistake Rob Zombie made with his Halloween remake.

Which was actually quite similar to his treatment in part II and III, wasn't a fan of how the later entries made him into a mindless chewed up Michael Myers knockoff, I think Jason works better when part of the danger he poses comes from his knowledge of the area and being capable with a large variety of weapons, rather than just slowly walking after all his victims and killing them with a machete or brute force.

Meh, I hope it just lingers in development until it fizzles out. It sounds like it'll be ****

I somewhat agree. Just the fact that he knows the area and gained the skill to live off the land I could see a little, but anything more like he is some psycho trained Navy SEAL makes me pee my pants. Who was it that trained him? Or taught him to survive at all with no shelter, etc. ?

I hope that the origin part of it is, at most, 5 minutes long.

All and all, we miss these characters - Jason, Michael, and Freddy.

The first two are much easier to to than Freddy.

Jason & Michael Myers are as much a part of pop culture as James Bond, Superman, Han Solo & Batman.
Whether anyone wants to admit it or not.
Its true.
Everyone of those characters has a fan that clamors for their next adventure.
The difference being, if Jason hurls a javelin the length of a football field to spear someone everyone will laugh then cheer.
If James Bond did it....they would cringe. Because of the believability factor & its Un-Bond like.
The point being, Jason fans expect the most absurd will happen in his movies. We dont need this elaborate origin for him.
Just put him on screen & let the blood spill.
They will come.

Any other franchise I would agree, but come on. This is Friday the 13th. We've had Jason Takes Manhattan and Jason Goes to Hell. The entire franchise is absurd. I don't give a **** what they do, just give me a new installment.

I'm sure Jason will find his way back on screen eventually.
Too profitable of a franchise to remain unused.

I hate it when I get forced to watch a film! :o

One less bad horror film in the world is never a bad thing

Yeah but who cares? Like they said above nobody is gonna force you to watch the thing. Some people might enjoy it and think it's not a bad horror film. Let them enjoy and you just ignore it, problem solved.
