The Full List of "Crimes" Committed by Fox's Tom Rothman

I'd have to agree. The script was put together in a few weeks before the writer's strike. The release date was extended 8 months to a later date because the production fell way behind schedule. The budget is estimated to be around 100million and no video game movie adaptation has come close to making that money domestically. The film has a historically bad release date. The trailer looks like it was made on a film with a budget of 5million.

If Fox expected this to be successful they would have started promoting this film 2 months ago. Instead they are probably going to hold off on releasing a trailer until a month before the release date because that's the only chance they have at making money off of this turd.

I understand your concerns, and you got some valid points which is what is worrying me, but I have to clear up 2 things:

1) This isnt a video game adaptation. Its an anime (cartoon) adaptation.
2) There isnt a official trailer yet. What you saw wasnt a trailer, was just a licensing and merchandising footage that was never meant to be seen by the public. It also was made in May when they were just starting post production. You can also see some scenes are unfinished in that footage. So thats not a trailer. Official trailer will be shown in December.

you know what? My take on Dragon Ball is this: I've got a funny vibe about it. You know that 'vibe' where you know a movie might suck? That's it right there. But I can't really back it up, besides bashing the leaked pix and vids of the movie.

''some people just want to watch the world burn''

Wasn't Tom Rothman bragging a few months back about how much of a hit
Autralia would be and how it would offset the dissapointing summer?

With a budget of 150million and an expected weekend gross around 22million this movie is on pace to be a bigger flop than speed racer and probably the biggest flop of the year.

I guess the Secret life of Bees will continue to be Fox's most profitable film since What Happens in Vegas.:lmao:

I wonder how Day The Earth Stood Still is going to do. A part of me thinks it could be like this year's I AM LEGEND, but it doesn't have a Will Smith as a part of it. Another part of me thinks it will bomb terribly.

I'd like it to bomb terribly only if it'd make Keanu Reeves' career die.. but that won't happen :down

It will do mediocre...not great but not horrible. Probably enough to churn a profit. Probably around 45-50 million opening weekend but it does look horrible and I am not going to see it.

Looks like Tom Rothman is really an idiot.

Buit i liked X3, FF2, DD, AvP and many others, and i'm still going to see "The day Earth stood still", "X-men origins: Wolverine" and the others.

i highly doubt DB had a budget of 150million, fox never chews more than they can swallow. usually all there budgets are low anyways, around the 50 million area..

edit: i looked on wiki and it said the budget was over 100 million....damn...what the hell did they use all that for? probably all just going back to rothman anyways :lmao:

My mistake. I just clarified the movie I was referring to was Australia which has been rumored to have a budget in the range of 130-150million. DB is rumored to have a budget of 100million.

I dont know, it doesnt look great, but it doesnt look OMFG terrible like Dragonball does. It seems watchable. I'm betting it will turn in a modest profit. DB will be lucky to top 30 million.

So I suppose you think the movie looks good, huh :whatever:

Agreed, it should do well enough for the studio to turn in a profit domestically.

I always believes he has to have pictures of his bosses in compromised positions to keep his job. The guy's track record for crap is amazing.

- Said no to Alien 5 by James Cameron and Ridley Scott because "We have a good script for AVP."

Even after Resurrection,Scott and James were both still willing to come back,and.....

Dragon Ball looks like a mid '90s attempt at doing a video game or comic book movie. It looks so...bad. My God..

I'm not a fan of Dragonball Z, but it looks like a typical Fox polished turd. Now if they could do something about the turds natural smell coming through the polish...

they all have the same...cinematography. That cheap look. That "I'm gonna millions out of this" look. I'm surprised that Dragon Ball wasn't filmed in Toronto; it would've complete the Fox Trifecta of making films: (Toronto, under 100 million to make, under 100 minutes for the final cut)
