The Full List of "Crimes" Committed by Fox's Tom Rothman

Props to Fox and Rothman for losing approximately 100million dollars on 3 movies(Street Fighter/DBE/Aliens in the attic) in 2009 with the visual appearance of being developed on a combined budget of 30million. If I didn't know these films were produced by a major studio I would have expected to see them premiere as more of those horrible sci-fi channel movies. I really can't comprehend how any of these films cost over or around 50million dollars with lousy special effects and no star power.

Let me tell you guys something...I saw Street Fighter: Legend of Chun-Li, and my lord, it was the cheapest looking movie that I've ever seen. The CGI was bad, the editing was bad, the score was bad, the acting was bad, the story was stupid, the continuity was terrible, and the list goes on. I can't believe it was a MAJOR STUDIO film.

^Really? Those films combined brought in about $101 million worldwide. Aliens in the Attic somehow cost $45 million, but I don't know how much SF and DB cost.

My God, we need to do something. We need to go Lada on his ass.

We need to got to Tom Rothman's house, compliment his daughters, drink his milk, save the movies he is about to put in production, and just shoot him.

Chun Li is seeing is believing. I'm not overexgerating it; it's a very poorly made movie even from a tech standpoint. Yes, the orignal Van Damme Street Fighter, despite its awful script, was better directed than Chun Li.

Sorry, my post was replying to theweepeople's. I've yet to see Chun Li and I doubt I ever will unless it's uploaded onto Youtube or some free-streaming site.

Has Rothman ever attended Comic Con? I would love to see the geek reaction to him. :hehe:

Yeah, but you can bet if someone tried to call him on his bulls#!t people all over Hollywood and the internet would all of a sudden come to his defense.

Just look at what happened with Liefeld. :whatever:

how rothman still has a job is beyond me. seriously, fox has put out the worst movies in recent memory. even lionsgate puts out better films. he had to mess with proyas' vision of how i'robot was supposed to be. it was supposed to be more darker. proyas since then has said never again until fox gets new people in charge. the neutered john mcClane, the disaster of the fantastic four and x-men franchise, including the embarrassing wolverine movie. the avp crap. the list goes on and on. but yet i still see people, especially over at the dvdtalk forums, that still want sequels greenlit under rothman. i guess some like quantity over quality.

Simple. People have different likes and dislikes than you do.

Not defending Rothman or anything but Proyas did have creative freedom when he made KNowing. And that wasn't exactly the crow or Dark city in terms of awesomeness :o

I definately agree with PG-f'ing Die Hard. Seriously this is a classic example of studio exec. agreeing to everything and then deciding the movie is too expensive hence it has to have a lower rating.
Exec #1 : So my idea is to have a chase sequence
Exec #2 : Go on.
Exec #1 : Not just any chase sequence. Mcclane vs jetfighter
Exec #2 : Oh yeah baby...but wait. Isn't that going to be too expensive
Exec #1 : Your right. Hmm.... I GOT IT. We'll go PG-13
Exec #2 : Genius.

However notice that there has been trend lately of high profile directors going back to Fox. I would've thought that with ROthman's meddling during Kigndom Of heaven , Ridley Scott would never work with Fox again.
Fastforward later and he's doing the Alien prequel movie.
Spielberg is also going to direct his next movie ( Harvey) with the money from Fox.

Not to mention the fact that James Cameron is making Avatar at Fox and will probably stay there to finish his Avatar and Battle ANgel trilogies

Rothman isn't even in charge of 20th Century any more is he? I thought he was put in charge of Searchlight and Fox TV?

If I'm not mistaken, there is a young executive at 20th Century Fox who is actually a film geek supposedly. With Rothman not directly controlling 20th Century, I'm hoping that the younger crop of execs are trying to turn the ship around. I think for example, and it might be a terrible example, wanting Ridley Scott to make the Alien prequel. Even though Fox can easily destroy the film, at least this is something to make you think that they are starting to care, or maybe Rothman isn't always there to say no. Same goes with Robert Rodreguiz's Predators movie.

I know I know..it's wishful thinking and most likely if there will be any changes, we won't see it in their films 1-3 years from now (since development takes forever)

Nope
Rothman is still over Fox Filmed Entertainment . He along with some other guy got promoted and now have oversee all Fox related Tv productions

And the sad thing is that I love Searchlight.

Remember when Dollhouse had to 'redo' their pilot and how Futurama was threatening with a new cast? Do you think it was Rothman behind those deals? It sounds very Rothman like.

Most probably.

But it will be a good thing if he has too much on his plate. Less chance to micro manage and be a pest.

I think that's whats happening right now: Rothman is still there but he's being distracted by other things.

Sounds interesting. What happened with Liefeld?
