They've said that the South Park team remains unaffected by the layoffs and that the only people fired were the ones that working on the game that was cancelled allegedly by Microsoft.

I beat I Am Alive today, I know a lot of people didn't like that ending but I found it to be sad and somewhat good. The last level of that game was phenomenal and you felt like a true hunter hunting his prey. I really wish Ubisoft would put some money and make this into a full retail game, it has a lot of potential but is obviously held back because of it being a xbla title.

Here is the Jeff Gerstmann interview with Gamespot from earlier today:

Basically yeah, his firing went down pretty much how it was rumored to have.

The issue, Gerstmann claimed in a streaming interview, was that a new management team inexperienced in dealing with editorial groups, had come to power at Gamespot and overreacted to what Gerstmann describes as "publisher push-back." According to his recollection, Eidos threatened to pull ad revenue from Gamespot as a result of his review, and though this kind of thing is relatively common in games journalism, the nascent management team panicked and decided that Gerstmann was unreliable. "They felt they couldn't trust me in the role," Gerstmann said.

"We did what an editorial team does. We did what we were supposed to be doing. We reviewed games, we instructed people about the quality of games, and we were completely honest," he added. "This management team buckled when faced with having a lot of ad dollars walk out the door."

I picked that title up as well. I like it so far. Deff not the 4.5 that IGN gave it.

Yeah I liked it alot, especially the last part.

I've got the trial right now. I haven't played it yet because Mass Effect 3 exists. Ironic, given that I was previously super-excited for I Am Alive. But not Mass Effect excited, as it turns out. ;)

Haha I'm in the same boat. I picked the game up a day or 2 after it came out and played it for about 30 min then when back to ME3. I figured I'd finish it after I completed ME3 but now I have the desire to go back and play the entire Mass Effect series over, which I'm now doing.

Great! I never played that on my Dreamcast.

I wonder how well it holds up now. I loved it back then but technology has improved so much in the last 10 years especially when it comes to live dynamic cities and A.I. within them.

If you've never played it before, I think it will hold up as well as you want it to. You could go into it and nitpick every little flaw and outdated mechanic, or you could go into it and really appreciate how crazy and unique and forward thinking it was at the time.

If you have played it before, it honestly might be a little rough if you've let nostalgia cloud your memories of the game. Otherwise it should be fine.

I remember reading about it and thinking it could be the best game of it's time if it turned out like claimed. Could never get hold of a copy though (was pretty young at the time).

Probably. Or release them a little ways apart, and then release both in a physical release collection that's quickly becoming all the rage.

If they are being released on XBLA and PSN, I doubt there will be a retail copy. This sounds closer to Resident Evil Code Veronica HD and Resident Evil 4 HD than it does something like the MGS HD Collection.

This. None of the Dreamcast PSN/XBLA releases as far as I know have had a NA retail release. Soul Calibur, Sonic Adventure, Sega Bass Fishing, Space Channel 5, Crazy Taxi are all digital releases only

Speaking of collections of Sega games, I'm pretty excited for the Monster World collection coming out in April.

I've never played Shenmue since I didn't have Dreamcast at that time and honestly I think I would've been too young to appreciate what it was but it was a game I always have been interested to try it out so a re-release of it in HD would be nice.

Never played the original Shenmue games, but isn't the story incomplete? From what I remember, it was supposed to be a series of games that got ended prematurely.

Yeah, the story was never completed, as a matter of fact, you never faced off against the game's villain Lan Di, IMO i think that was supposed to be the big conclusion to it all, sadly there wasn't a Shenmue 3 to tie up all the loose ends.
