The Golden Globes: Pick the Winners

That face he had was hilarious. :lmao:

He looks like his cartoon character after "K" gained a super power.

Like I've said, it was good for the first 30 seconds. Not so much for the last 90...

It may have gone on a little too long but I don't care, I still love Ferrell.

On another note, I'm sooo glad Swift lost. Her songs are the definition of unoriginal. How many times can you sing about losing your boyfriends because you're most likely a prude or super controlling.

I don't know who Adel is, but I'm sure he's a cool dude.

Les Mis is an overrated piece of ****, horribly filmed with only the performances and some of the production design looking good... I hope it gets no love at the oscars except for the aforementioned categories
THANK YOU!! Finally someone had to say it, I don't hate the actors in Les Miserables I just don't like these type of movies that get all the lovey dovey attention during award season and aren't the type of movies that the average joe is dying to see.

Mind you as I've gotten older my taste in movies has changed and I'm always open to see movies that are not action, adventure, sci-fi, superheroes but please I hate it when studio PR's shove these arsty fartsy flicks in our faces.

Or mentally unstable? Or most likely all three. I wish they'd cut to a reaction shot when Fey and Poheler owned her.

I don't like Adele either, but man "Let the Sky Fall" was a damn amazing song. Pure class.

Except that Les Mis isn't exactly an arthouse indie that was shoved down anyone's throat. It's based on a very popular stage musical that's been around since 1985, has played in 42 countries, translated into 21 different languages, has had more than 40 cast recordings, and has been seen by more than 60 million people worldwide. There's even a high school version that's been performed in more 3000 schools.

You may not have liked it, and that's fine...but Les Mis is really about as mainstream as you can get.

If one dislikes a movie so much one can choose not to watch it again.

Exactly! People who made claims about Les Mis being this movie that was only made to win awards. The musical has been around forever, and we got this Oscar-winning director along with amazing talents like Hugh Jackman and Anne Hathaway singing and performing in the movie. If you don't like it, that's fine, but please give it some recognition that it deserves.

The book Les Miserables by Victor Hugo is legendary, it has been around for over a hundred and fifty two years and has been read by college students for just as long. Here's some American history. During the Civil War this book was read by soldiers of the Confederate Army, as they identified with the revolutionary aspects of the story.

Exactly! In fact, the Southern rebels even referred to themselves as "Lee's Miserables".

The novel was the inspiration for the TV series The Fugitive, which was later adapted into a hit (and Oscar-winning!) movie.

Alfred Hitchcock was once quoted as saying "That book would make a wonderful musical."

Les Mis is "artsy fartsy"..?

LMFAO. Yeah, it's like the very definition of mainstream IMO too.

:funny:

Best argument ever.

About the Globes: I don't like it when Anne Hathaway tries to be funny. She stinks at it.

Edit: Well, actually I didn't like Hugh trying to be funny either.

Edit: I don't like any of the actors accepting awards trying to be funny.

Yep. And Les Mis isn't played exclusively in art houses theatres with a limited release. It absolutely is a mainstream film, advertised as such with banners and adverts everywhere. The average joe has been interested.

I'm usually thoughtful and serious with flippant comments here and there, but when I get up on stage or give a speech of some sort, I become more like a performer. It's the moment I guess.

I don't think Argo should have won over Life of Pi or Django Unchained...

But who am I to judge? -_-

In terms of pure cinematic excellence, that is, how the camera is used to tell a story, Life of Pi absolutely deserves the win over everything else. But, since when did the awards circuit care about that? They care more about performance driven films.

Which is why Transformers got snubbed during award seasons. :woot: no seriously.

I tried reading that but the caps lock and long winded nature turned me off pretty quickly.
