Something tells me that Superman Legacy could be inspired in a certain way by Smallville TV Show since James Gunn DCU Superman is a Young Superman maybe James Gunn DCU Clark Kent was a friend of Lex Luthor just as happened in Smallville i could be wrong but thas how i feel about Superman Legacy for now

It makes the world to small to me if Clark grew up with Lex.

I'm not crazy about them growing up together. I like the idea of the Luthors being old-ish money rich when his family came Into their wealth and power in 1940. So in essence I think a lex senior Lex Jr situation could be interesting. But having both might play out more like Norman and Harry Osborne though so im not sure they'd go for it.

Clark and Lex growing up together is for when you are doing Superboy or Smallville or some young Clark Kent early years story where you want to fit Lex into that so you can use the character. No need to do it when you are already doing adult Superman.

I really want "scientists Lex" that is still the very much public face of Lexcorp ala STAS. In my mind he shows up to rallies against Superman and often makes public statements, but behind closed doors he's toiling away in his lab. Building, tweaking and obsessing.

Similar to how Penguin is used in the Reeves films. Not a main villain but a prominent supporting character. We can see his story unfold through multiple films. Maybe even an HBO Max series.

I think Gunn is gonna go for a Jeff Bezos/Elon Musk inspired Lex. It's too obvious at this point and it's bizarre it hasn't been done yet.

Lex should be at least a little likable.

Even in business, Musk is too much of a clown to serve as inspiration for Lex.

Let's not forget Elon was liked for a while there and then his true self slowly unravelled. I don't think lex's personality should be based on Musks but just a bits and pieces of his persona and how he worked in the public eye and how he became a villain to so many.

Just like how he can be inspired by Trump but he doesn't have to go around wearing MMGA hats.

It's just little moments of these people you could easily collage into what would be a recognisable Lex at the same time feeling like he is a real threat we could have in our lives.

I don't think they should base Lex on any particular real world businessman like Trump or Musk because I think that immediately dates the character and the movies he's in if they try too hard to copy whichever real life rich ******* that is in the headlines at the moment. There is plenty of source material with evil businessman Lex, just stick to being inspired by that, and let the audience make the obvious parallels on their own.

I didn't know where to post this but after a few ideas, I think it might work best here.

I have had this idea swirling around in my head for the last week (spent a week in the hospital).

I was thinking about superhero movie fatigue as some people put it, some people say it's a real thing, and others would say it purely comes down to the quality of the film. I tend to think the latter.

Anyway, so it got me thinking... say there is superhero movie fatigue of some sort and perhaps the genre needs a film or series that does something different and it got me thinking of The Sopranos.

What if they made a 2 season tv show or a film that took inspiration from The Sopranos and made it about Lex.

Get away from the action and explosions (to a degree) and make a real character study on Lex and his life as one of the biggest bad guys there is, but rather than going into the standard bad guy stuff, they can show us the other side of what being Lex is like. He would still be evil but we see more as to why and what makes him tick, and the daily in-betweens of being a supervillain.

If you wanted to add Superman in there in some form I would only show Lois and Clark as journalists trying to get information on Lex. They would be the "detectives" on the show that we see occasionally trying to trace his footsteps and hold him accountable for certain crimes that have been committed but we would be made to root for Lex rather than Lois and Clark, the viewer should find them annoying and getting in the way of our main characters goals.

There could be moments when Lex is looking at everything he has done and is planning on doing and is about to pack it all in because he is tired and now just wants a safe life but because of something Lois and Clark do it undoes all of that and it pushes Lex back into the dark side.

I am sure it has been said before but I could see Jesse Plemons doing a good job as Lex.

I want someone who when the last straw snaps into a rage with spit going everywhere, veins bulging, and then able to turn it off in a second so when you see this anger-filled emotion you are scared but also sad because of just how angry inside they are.

I could get on board with that, but Plemons has Reeves’s Gotham City written all over him, as far as I’m concerned.

I don't think it's right for THIS movie, but I would honestly be intrigued by this casting. Black pulling out his tricks from 'King Kong' would make a very interesting Lex.

Even on his A-game, I feel like Black as Luthor would be a little too much in the same vein as Hackman. Occasional flickers of real darkness, but mostly comedic.
