The Greatest Criminal Mind of Our Time: Nicholas Hoult IS Lex Luthor

I'd take either. Even Elba hamming it up would be a huge improvement on Eisenberg playing Riddler.

I think Elba would ham it up, like he did in Hobbs&Shaw and Suicide Squad. I think McConaughey would be perfect, but I don't know if he 'd actually make it.

I can't imagine McConaughey being in a multiple year contract for DC that has yet to show it can be great. That and all I can see is McConaughey.

The Rock isn’t a good enough actor. He’s entertaining in ensemble films where he’s taking the piss out of himself. Not sure what more there is going to be to his career. I think you need someone who can act well for Lex.

The Rock can't play Lex Luthor because Lex has to lose to Superman.

If The Rock played Lex Luthor we'd get one imbued with the powers of a Kryptonian who'd kick Superman's ass and change the power of hierarchy.

No thanks.

Lex should be a Key Figure for the New Superman i hope Gunn can understand that i hope Lex is very important for the New DC Universe i hope they cast a Good Actor for him and please make Lex Bald this time

Well I don't think it's just a matter of casting a good actor. Gene Hackman and maybe even Kevin Spacey would've been considered good actors but they both played Lex more like a buffoon. Lex just needs a completely different type.

Character wise I think Lex Luthor should be a combination of Bobby Cannavale's Gyp Rosetti and Michael Stuhlbarg's Arnold Rothstein from Boardwalk Empire

For me, Lex has to be a very well known actor. Someone that makes the audience go damn I can't believe that got him for Lex.
Same for Jonathan, jor-el, and Perry.

Lois, superman, and jimmy can, and probably will be, relatively unknowns.

But imo, he really needs to pull a Donner and cast some modern day legends in those key supporting roles. ( lex, etc )

Just my preference but I'd go...
Lex - Matthew McConaughey or Edris Elba
Jonathan - Kurt Russell or Dennis Quaid
Jor-el - Robert Downey Jr or Jude law.
Perry- Denzel Washington or John Goodman

I dont really care who RDJ is cast as, but give the man a role.
He would probably love to play a villain for a change. Lex maybe? Brainiac even?

I love Lee Pace.

I could see him as a grown up version of Michael Rosenbaum’s Smallville Lex, which as someone pointed out earlier, is probably the best film Lex we’ve ever gotten. Interestingly I’ve heard where Rosenbaum has said that despite the fact that he demanded being written out of that show, he was really hurt to have not been asked to audition of the Superman Returns Lex.

I would love Isaacs as Lex. I mentioned him for Lex before MoS.

I know that he’s a bit old for Lex. And I know that he is retired. But daggumit if Daniel Day Lewis wouldn’t be the perfect Lex Luthor.

Ok, don't laugh: After seeing James Gunn's comment the other day about how he would like to work with the Guardians cast at his 'other job', it gave me an idea. Dave Bautista as Lex. Not only does he have the acting chops to play the highly intelligent cerebral Lex but he also has the size to make Lex even more of an egomaniac.

He could be both the smartest & strongest guy around. A shining example of the future... until Superman shows up. He spent all his life to reach this point and then he is, in a flash, no longer the most important man in Metropolis. He sees this alien that is so powerful just because as a threat to humanity (and more importantly himself). I think Bautista could definitely sell it.

Plus, he has the look
