The greatest Halloween-time movies?

These films alway remind me of Halloween...

Halloween
Halloween II
The Blair Witch Project
The Rocky Horror Picture Show
Friday the 13th 1-3
Nosferatu(1922)
Dracula(1931)
The Wolf-Man(1941)
An American Werewolf in London

I was genuinely afraid while I was waiting to fall asleep one night that my bed would start shaking violently.

I was 17 years old.

But, put aside the fact that The Excorcist is one of the scariest f***ing movies EVER, and you'll see that it is also one of the best. The last 10-15 minutes are pure brilliance.
I keep hearing how The Excorcist is so damn scary. But it really doesn't look that scary to me.

I wouldnt say its scary as much as it is unsettling.

But, I dunno, you just need to check it out for yourself.

Hocus Pocus
Sleepaway Camp
Videodrome
Basket Case
Phantasm
Carrie
Goosebumps: The Haunted Mask
They Live
The Shining
Don't Go In The Woods...Alone!

Every year I watch Evil Dead 2, The Shining, and Arsenic and Old Lace.

I know the maze pop up of Linda scared the hell out of me, but I didn't know the whole movie was scary, I'll definatley check that out this Halloween.

If you thought that maze prank was freaky (which I agree with), the full movie will probably make you drop logs.

Damn, I've never seen the Evil Dead films. And I want to really bad!

Hocus Pocus
Goosebumps: The Haunted Mask

Totally forgot about these two, all Goosebumps episodes own. Also I'd like to add a decent Disney movie, Halloween Town. Everyone should definatley check it out, it's one of the greatest.

I never thought The Excorcist was scary, not one bit....but I do think it is a great film and Ellen Bustyn (God, I love her  ) again gives a GREAT performance as the solemn and tormented mother
But the film is very very disturbing, particularily the scene were the girl takes the crucifix...stabs herself in the vagina then puts her mothers face in her bloody vagina while chanting "F*** me!!!F*** me!!"....if that isn't unsettling to you, then you need a psychiatrist fast! :o

The spider-walk scene still creeps me out.

Ghostbusters
Shaun of the Dead
Beetlejuice
Men In Black

I'm definately in the "The Exorcist: Good, But Not Scary" camp. I suppose if you actually believe in demons and the devil and that you can really be possesed by them then I could see how someone could be scared by it.

I think it's because the film came out a long time ago so it's also harder to be scared by something that has less of a shock factor and that you've probably heard most aobut before even seeing the movie.

the only time i can recall being scared by a movie was when pet sematary first came out and i didnt know what to expect. If I went backl and watched it now I dont think I would be affected by that and also it would look dated.

I guess these movies remind me of Halloween:

Halloween(original)
Friday the 13th series
The Crow
Saw(s)
The Thing(remake)
Alien/s
Ghostbusters

I don't know man...Nosferatu came out like almost 90 years ago and it still gives me the willies. lol

Halloween(1,2,4,5,& H20)
All the old classics, ex; wolfman, frankenstein, etc.
Scream Trilogy
House of Wax
The Excorcist
Hills Have Eyes Remake
The Omen remake
Sleepy Hollow

Fun Halloween Movies:
Halloweentown
Casper
Beetlejuice
Nightmare before christmas
Goosebumps movies

Halloween series
Evil Dead trilogy (I can watch these films all day. I adore them.)
Friday the 13th series
Nightmare on Elm Street series
George A. Romero's Zombie film series
and more.

It really depends on how old you are when you first see it. A kid would be scared ****less, but an adult would find it more disturbing than scary.

Shaun of the Dead
The Evil Dead movies
An American Werewolf in London
Monster Squad
Any of the old Universal monster movies (Bonus points for Abbot and Costello meet Frankenstein)
Nosferatu
The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari
Early Romero work
Dead Alive
Nightmare on Elm Street
And if you want a good comedy to finish it off, Fido was pretty fun.

Last year, James Rolfe of Cinemassacre (AKA, The Angry Video Game Nerd) put together a history of horror cinema called Cinemassacre's monster madness. 1 video came out every day of halloween. He did a great job.

Here's #1

The Scream series. Brilliant. It was so original back in the 90's. It's even original now. I loved how they were all self aware and knew the rules to surviving.

How in the seven circles of hell has anybody NOT seen The Exorcist...that is mind boggling. That is cool Bubastis....need to see the others.
