Who do you think should be The Green Lantern? I think Joaquin Phoenix would be good if he's not Two-Face.


I heard Jack Black wanted to be The Green Lantern... maybe he could be the ugly one that looks like a pig... t:

I'm not racist, but I think they should go with the Hal Jordon Green Lantern.

I don't know about that. The movie going public doesn't watch cartoons, therefore the pressence on JLU makes little or no difference in the long run. And considering the one script already floated out there featured "Bluto - Jack Black GL", a white GL, they really don't seem married to any of the three to be honest.

However DC currently seems to be backing Hal. Although I bet the 18-24 age bracket (to which movies tend to go) would very much relate to Kyle more than the other two. John Stewart is a tough sell as a solo character, but Kyle has that whole "average joe, I like what you like" sense about him.

Nathan Fillion for Hal!

Hal just seems like the most logical choice for the first Green Lantern movie. His story just makes the most sense as a way to introduce people to the mythos. Wasn't John hired to replace Guy as a backup for Hal? What kind of origin is that?

Kyle's origin isn't bad, and I kinda see it as a Star Wars Episode 4 "new beginning" type thing. The Green Lanterns are all destroyed, after their greatest hero betrayed them. Now a new one is chosen to bring them all back. Wow, it's actually a whole lot more like Star Wars Episode 4 than i realized.

But really, I just think Hal and the classic Abin Sur origin is the best place to start. And who cares about which character is most popular, none of them are. Very few people actually watch cartoons and know who Green Lantern is from JLU.

Pheonix is my pic for Hal, but John I would go with Will Smith, fine actor, would pull in casual movie goers.

But for me, they should definatley use Hal

Green Lantern is a weak superhero when you think about it. Without the ring...no powers. Maybe that is why WB at one point wanted Jack Black as Green Lantern and have it be a super hero comedy? Regardless, he is still a cool hero. I think if they make a movie...go with a black guy.

I don`t jnow whether this affects anyone`s casting choices but...
Hal Jordan was based off of Paul Newman.

Sinestro was based off of David Niven.

So perhaps with those two characters it might work to imagine trying to cast someone as Paul Newman or David Niven instead as a comic or anime character can usually look like anyone you suggest should be casted as them.
