The Gunga Diner

heh. while i technically took the idea from the batusi lounge, my post history will show i've never posted in any form of the batusi lounge. it was just the idea of a discussion forum, but they didn't make a discussion thing on their site. they have a section that is supposed to be like the gunga diner, and it just has random sh-t. so they didn't steal it really...but i mean, they basically did. by basically i mean they totally did. they are thieves and scumbags. and i'd consider suing but it would be caught up in the courts for like three years and i'd end up settling for a lot less than i wanted to and spending all the money going halfsies on that 300ft dr. manhattan statue that we talked about but they would run out of clay before sculpting the penis, and then nobody's happy. so i mean, i might as well just let it be.

Im mostly looking forward to Rorschach with his setting the house on fire and Doctor Manhattan on Mars with Silk. It'll also be intersting to see how Zack will pull off the Jon's flashbacks on Mars.

And do we know whos playing Captain_Metropolis and Hooded Justice?

i heard that they won't even be in the movie. but considering how hell bent snyder seems to be on being faithful, they would have to be. but as far as i know, they aren't cast yet.

cool. too bad though. we could have possibly got a sweet inside scoop. at least on a couple days of filming.

so i assume everyone watched that new video. snyder totally said he would show us pictures. he's gotta mean the costumes. he's one of those kinda guys who is a fan, so he is in touch with the fanboys. which is really cool. i hope we get to see somethin soon. =D

I think so, but I also think a Rorschach or Manhattan reveal is a ways off, given the CG elements (Rorschach's mask and Manhattan's whole figure) that will done in post-production. I'll take a cigar-chomping Comedian reveal, though.

so it looks like 'Heroes' is ripping off watchmen again. theres a plot in the new season involving the old team of heroes being methodically knocked off by a mysterious person, likely one of their own.

...i believe a big  is in order there. i don't watch heroes...but i don't think i need to.

And of course we'll be hearing from folks who like Heroes (but don't know the Watchmen) how much The Watchmen is a "rip-off" of Heroes!

Can't wait! :)

yeah. i don't think it'll bring in the same crowd though. i think teens to 20s are the general heroes crowd. and really, the watchmen crowd should be 30s and up. obviously a lot of the people here are late teens and 20s, but i think it'll appeal to an older crowd if it's done properly.

I think I speak for everyone when I say it's about time to see the costumes. I understand we are VERY far away from footage, or a trailer or even official pictures. But just a taste would be nice. Just one little picture =) Nite Owl, Comedian, somebody. I want to see one of these characters in the real world.

And I really don't care that much about the costumes. I'd rather see a production still (involving anyone) that is a dead-ringer for a panel from the comic. ANYTHING. Like Dan cringing with regret at the Gunga diner as Sally heads for the door. ANYTHING.

And I like the reveals so far. They're subtle, and distinguish this film from other "super hero" movies. For example: I don't want to see portrait shot of Nite Owl II pumping his fist in the air like some idiot. I'll take the Comedian napalming the fawk out of innocents with a grin on his face, though.

*shudders*
I sincerely hope you're wrong. I like to think that the folks who watch Heroes are nerds who already know about Watchmen and the countless dudes who just watch it to jerk off to the cheerleader.

I'm tired of people telling me I need to watch Heroes. And hearing about that show ripping off of Watchmen just makes me avoid it even more.

Yeah. I'm not saying the costumes are the most important thing to me. I just want to see the characters. Anything would do. Personally, I'd like to see Manhattan screaming in rage before sending all the reporters out of the studio.

Exactly. Nothing in those first official pictures indicate that it's a superhero-movie (which it really isn't either), but every Watchmen-fan still knew what they were smiling about.
And sneaking Rorschach in there was so coy...

This board is bored and these threads are dead.

All we need is a spark. But sadly there hasn't been any news as of late. Other than the fact that Moore doesn't want to watch the movie. But who didn't see that one coming?
