The Haitian

no, and i don't care if it isn't.

By the way, does anyone find it a little politically incorrect that they only refer to this dude by his nationality? I mean, I'm not hung up on PC crap, but seriously... they don't call Nathan "the American" or Mohinder "the Indian." And I assume when Christopher Eccleston shows up he won't be "the Englighman." I can understand why people who don't know who he is would refer to the Haitian so generically, but would Eden and Bennett know his name or at least a better code name for him?

Um... yes, it's politically incorrect, but it's not offensive. PC crap is constructed by a lot white people who apparently don't know how to put themselves in someone else's shoes. As a minority, I don't mind having the character called "The Haitian" because A) It makes sense in the story. B) It's not his actual name, even in the story. C) It sounds cool. D) The character is not a Haitian stereotype.

It's always a good idea to be respectful and to avoid insulting people, but that simply doesn't involve getting up in arms everytime someone's nationality is highlighted. It's okay to be Haitian.

Seriously, if you don't know how a Haitian would feel about this, then you are unqualified to determine what is offensive and what is not, and your definition of "PC" is useless to anyone but marketting, who don't care about not offending people, but simply keeping ratings up/making money.

Seriously, I understand your heart is in the right place, but sweating the guy being called the Haitian, something that offends no one, gives "PC" a bad name.

If the dude had a name, they'd call him by it. Was it socially irresponsible to refer to Claire as "The Cheerleader" before they knew her name? Fact of the matter is that she was a cheerleader, just like he is Haitian.

The Haitian sounds a lot better than "that black dude"

I think this is the most that can be said about The Haitian's powers at the moment:

Since the source of the "heroes" powers is in the mind, it makes sense he can block them somehow.

The symbol around his neck and this line:

"He'll be here soon, expecting that you won't remember anything. But it is very important that you do."

lead me to spec that The Haitian is somehow connected to Future Hiro.

They've both singled out Claire for special consideration and they both display the RNA symbol.

i don't know.....it's a decent theory, but it seems kinda odd

I like this theory. The only thing that throws it out of whack is the fact that Jessica has the symbol on her shoulder.

the symbol is everywhere. it's even on jessica's shoulder. the only connection about that symbol is that it's a particular strand of RNA that is tied to "activating evolution".

There's no indication that Jessica is aware of the symbol's appearance. My theory is based on the fact that The Haitian and Future Hiro are the only character's who openly display the RNA symbol as part of their - what will we call it? - ensemble?:woot:

I don't pretend to know what the symbol is all about and as Mysterio says it is everywhere, but The Haitian and Future Hiro are the only one's we've seen so far voluntarily wearing it.

Speaking against my own theory, The Haitian's style seems kind of ruthless, what with the kidnappings and mindwipes of innocents, compared to what we would expect from Hiro.

i think we can safely assume that jessica is aware of the symbol. the tattoo hasn't magically appeared on any other hero. i doubt it magically appeared on her.

That's pretty out there. I think he's working for himself or some kind of rival orginization.

On her shoulder, a difficult to view spot.
so she walked into the tattoo parlor and said, "surprise me"?

she doesn't remember everything that happens when she's Jessica....and the symbol appears to be linked more with Jessica than Niki

uhhh....yeeeaaaah. i'm talking about Jessica, not Nikki. the tattoo isn't there when she's Nikki. who do you think i'm talking about?

i don't know

Can someone find a screen shot of Niki *without* the tattoo? All the episodes are available at NBC.com. I dont think there was a time when we see a blank spot on Nikis right sholder.

we have seen Niki's blank shoulder. and don't forget Isaak's painting when he wiped away a spot on Niki's shoulder to reveal the mark. the implications are pretty obvious.

In the epesode where Lindermen's spokesperson tells Nikki she has to "entertain" Nathan, you can see her shoulder when they are walking her through the casino. She almost walks into Hiro there.
