I knew from the jump that even though Kills will be the better movie it would have less glowing reviews. The amount of violence will turn the critics off despite the quality of the movie.

How so? I don't want another Halloween 5/Resurrection thing on our hands!

Oh come on, even the most negative review has not made it sound anything like that. This is a violent slasher movie. Odds were always against it being a critical darling.

I’d imagine that fans will enjoy it a lot more than the critics.

I’m glad I don’t give a **** about critics or reviews etc. It’s so nice to just do my own thing. I feel bad honestly when some people worry way too much about what others think about a film instead of just their own personal thoughts on it. My quick two cents anyway  Next month, I’m so ready.

Critics hate gore centric slasher flicks. Always have and always will. gene siskel even hated something like New Nightmare back in the day.

The first movie got good reviews from the critics. I don't get it. When reviews are great, it's amazing news, and when they're bad, it's very dismissive. Do you care about whether critics matter in your view of the movie or not?

Doesn't mean the movie is terrible either. Terrible is H5 and H6!

We're just asking if it's good. Critics give great ratings to great horror movies. They've been very supportive of the greats to have come out in the past decade during horror's comeback. And they give poor reviews to bad ones. Now, sometimes they're off, and I don't usually agree with how they articulate their criticisms, as it's a lost art, but generally they're on the mark by knowing if it's quality. I'll give critics the benefit of the doubt that there is more wrong with this movie than just being too violent.

If I'm going to pay full price to see a movie, I want it to be good.

I honestly agree with you to an extent, but I think gore is a particular turn off for them with the Halloween franchise especially since the original didn't have any and many of them feel it replaces the suspense. But gore shouldn't be a sudden negative for a slasher film. It's important how it's used and others say it works for this particular movie. Of course, I still gotta see the movie but I'm fairly confident this movie is gonna be just what I was hoping for.

Much as I couldn't give a **** what critics say, at least maybe now I won't be seeing as many DGG fans saying that his trilogy is gonna be the be all and end all of the Halloween sequels. That was getting tiresome.

Still looking forward to the film.

But is the fact it's a gory slasher movie the main reason critics don't like it?

Oooof, they really need to get better or more qualified people to watch these movies. This person appears to not even have the basic knowledge of horror history down. You don't need to know much, but at least get your facts straight if you're gonna drop comments like that.
