Oooof, they really need to get better or more qualified people to watch these movies. This person appears to not even have the basic knowledge of horror history down. You don't need to know much, but at least get your facts straight if you're gonna drop comments like that.
Clearly written by someone who has never even seen TCM, and probably not the original Halloween either, they are very, very different movies.

Man all I want out of this movie is a Michael Myers and Jamie Lee Curtis being badasses and a high body count like we use to get in slasher movies back in the good old days.

Considering alot of those movies didn't get great reviews either though I can't say I'm surprised by the critic reception this time around, but atleast it sounds like its still going to be a huge crowdpleaser.

The gore seems to be one of the main reasons it seems from what I've read. One review said the movie ends abruptly, but the first one did too.

I want to say if that's the thing that's deciding the film's quality that's not good, but one of those things where we have to see it for ourselves.

I read the reviews on Letterboxd and some of them said that Jamie Lee Curtis
is in the movie for only like 10 minutes.
This is one of the things the viewers didn't like.

Unpopular opinion, but I liked Jamie much more in H20 than H18, Andi Matichak as Allyson was more interesting, so if she is the main character then I don't mind it.

I think all of us "purists" should just prepare ourselves for something we've never seen out of Myers on film save the RZ entries. I'm slightly concerned as I'd prefer MM not to be Jason. But with a movie with Kills in the title, we should not be surprised about what we're about to see.

I think I'll chalk it up to MM being absolutely pissed and reaching a new level of evil.

I've seen several reviews from Halloween purists who have seen it, and none of them said the movie makes Michael feel like Jason. The brutality of his murders never puts him in that territory. They said there is a lot more stalking and shadowy stealthy Michael in this one (something the 2018 movie was lacking from him).

Michael's portrayal in the movie is one of the most praised aspects I've seen from the Halloween fans.

Remember @LoneAmorphous who got to see the movie at the early screenings they did last year before Covid? He came in telling us his impressions. He's a die hard Halloween fan and he loved it. Rated it second to the original movie; Halloween Movies Thread... - Part 4

Look up his posts to remind yourselves of his opinions on it. He said its the most character driven movie of the franchise; Halloween Movies Thread... - Part 4

Its opinions from the Halloween fans, not the critics, that I place more value on. Halloween fans know what we love about these movies, and if they say it hit the right notes that's more encouraging to me than what some dude from Variety or Hollywood Reporter thinks.

Thanks for the reminder. I enjoyed H18 so I'm at that point where I trust DGG on his vision up to this point.

My excitement is rising even more after your post.

Good, the best part of original is the first half when he was just wandering in the background watching people.

So looks like this will now be releasing in theaters AND on Peacock October 15th??

Wow, if true. Not happy with this.

I’m already a peacock subscriber due to WWE so this is wonderful news for me. I won’t have to pay to watch this piece of **** in theaters.

I was going to skip it on theaters. But I will watch on Peacock. I didn't really love the last one, and while I liked the trailers for this so far, there is just other movies I have more interest in, so this was gonna be the odd one out. But easy at home choice

I am right with you. I was pretty lukewarm on the first. But this means I'll be able to watch it at home? That's a nice seasonal treat.

I just noticed your magnificent avvie!
Thanks Hunter. Our @Snow Queen always kills it. :yay:

Though I think I might need to change this one out, after the glorious trailer for the new Matrix. :hehe:
