The Amazing Spider-Man 2 The Hans Zimmer Score thread

Not gonna lie, it feels a bit weird that he's working on TASM2, and another movie at the same time, scoring.

I don't want Zimmer for MOS2/Superman v Batman. Give someone else the chance to do Batman.

Namely, Chris Drake. :awesome:

It would be ****ing awesome if he was allowed to do a little more with TASM2 than he did with MoS.

Well he does say he's scoring it with him, so he may have a larger role with this one.

Then again, "scoring" really just means making music, so he could still just be a drummer.

but is he THE collaborator? he could just have a small job working on the score and the collaborator Webb talked about would be someone else like Horner

Marc never said that he would be like Horner. He literally just said "and other musical collaborators".

The "musical collaborator" that Marc talked about a couple months ago confirmed his involvement. It's Pharrell! :awesome:

He confirms it here:

Pharrell did some of the drum work on Man of Steel, by the way.

Meh. I hope they still keep the main themes that Horner started while giving us something unique for Spidey. So it doesn't end up sounding like MoS v2.0 or something in that vein.

they should keep the main theme to keep the films connected, maybe just a new version of it

is the one we heard in the comic con teaser the same one from TASM? it sounded like the same theme but with a difference

Pharrell?...

Like "N.E.R.D" Pharrell? ...

The **** is this guy doing making film scores?

I love the Despicable Me scores/soundtracks. Intrigued by what Pharrell can contribute with to this.

Yeah I was taken aback too. It can be perceived as one of those things lole, "oh mr. successful celeb trying to do ALL aspects of entertainment (acting, singing, scoring, etc.)" but if it's successful and actually enjoyable, then I guess I have no complaint.

This is my next big 'event' score to anticipate.

It was not by Nickelback though. The singer is, also the bassist, but it also features the singer of Theory of a Deadman, Saliva's singer, Pearl Jam's drummer and Our Lady Peace's drummer.

So, every post-grunge band of late 90's-early 00's. Ugh.

what's wrong with grunge? I for one really like the song, and it kinda compliments the movie nicely

So it doesn't end up sounding like MoS v2.0 or something in that vein.

The new theme having a distinctive sound like MoS has is probably the best thing that could happen to this Spider-man... Horner's theme is forgettable at best (I can't even recall it right now) and it's far too similar to the pieces he normally does to be a stand out thing.

Elfman's theme was iconic for instance. I can remember it perfectly.

I liked Horner's main theme quite a bit - the one we hear at the end of 'Saving New York' and the end titles. If Zimmer retained the core sound and emphasised it in his way, I would be happy. He already did so in the Comic-Con footage.

All composers have a certain style. Elfman's Spider-man theme sounds similar to his Batman theme, his Edward Scissorhands theme, etc. I'm not a fan of Zimmer's style, so him making the movie sound just like MoS would be distasteful to me. IMO, there really isn't anything distinctive about MoS...it sounds just like many of the other works he's done. I did however like Horner's theme and hopes that he at least keeps that melody in the new score.
