Anyone else think Iggy gets too much hate? It's not like she put out zero effort. I think Black Widow is sort of catchy.

You guys hear about Lil Wayne saying Cash Money and Birdman holding the Carter V hostage?

I could see Eminem responding. That would be a good battle. I mean he basically said Eminem stole music. Simple as that. I really want to see this battle.

Late response:

But yeah that's crazy. If Wayne actually goes through it it'll be end of an era.

CM has always had problems with artists wanting to leave because of money. Wayne is the only guy who stuck around, but rumor has it even he wanted to leave to go sign with Roc A Fella back in the day but Birdman appeased him by giving him the Young Money imprint

The memes for him leaving have been hilarious though

I like Iggy even though I know I probably shouldn't. Black widow is catchy as hell, and so is fancy.
T.I. cosigning her certainly doesn't hurt.

I liked it myself along with Fancy too. Those are the only two songs I listen from her.

I think she's garbage musically. Kreyashawn, Soulja Boy level...but at least I like Turn My Swag on by Soulja

Between Prhyme and Run The Jewels, this has been the year of duos.

Ghostface Killah's new album is pretty dope, 36 Seasons. I'd even say it's better than Wu-Tang's A Better Tomorrow. The beat selection on the latter leaves so much to be desired.

Anyone listen to Nicki's new album? I'm actually surprised. "Four Door Aventador" has been on repeat all day.

She needs to give up this pop crap and go back to her mixtape days ASAP.

If anyone wants some non-musical rap entertainment, check out DMX's rap sheet or Ol' Dirty Bastard's FBI file.

What's everyone's favorite albums this year?I only have 3

1.)Isaiah Rashad - Cilvia Demo
2.)Ratking-So It Goes
3.)Run the Jewels 2

I didn't listen to much new stuff this year.

I still have to listen to a bunch of stuff to make my year end list

But in other news Hopsin claims he's quitting and moving to Australia
We've seen Hopsin go on twitter rants concerning the music industry/rap game in the past, however he usually calms down and it's back to business as usual. His latest message to the fans isn't in rant-form and it sounds like he's for real.

The Funk Volume rapper has had his fair share of ups and downs, and announced via Facebook today that he's quitting the rap game in order to move to his Australia (presumably to live/be with his Australian girlfriend) and move on to different things. He reveals he's already signed over his portion of the Funk Volume business to his partner, and wished the best of luck to former labelmates Dizzy Wright, SwiZzZ and Jarren Benton.

He says: "Over the past couple years I have come to conclusion that this profession just isn't for me, so im going to venture out into new areas of life. I will always be an MC at heart, but this rap stuff just isn't for me." Read his full messages below.

I just wanted to take time out to say I appreciate all of u who have supported my music over these past few years. A Lot of u have told me stories about how I have changed your life. You too have changed mine in ways that u can never imagine. Unfortunately, tonight is the night that I am actually moving away to Australia. Over the past couple years I have come to conclusion that this profession just isn't for me, so im going to venture out into new areas of life. I will always be an MC at heart, but this rap stuff just isn't for me. I hope Youguys can respect it. I've signed over my half of the funk volume label to my business partner Dame. I also wished Swizzz, Dizzy Wright and Jarren Benton good luck in their careers. Thank u all! I'm out.

Sincerely,

Marcus Jamal Hopson aka "Hopsin

Anonymous has threatened to hack Iggy Azalea
I can't post the screenshots of the tweets, but their on the link
Anonymous Threatens Iggy Azalea on Twitter: "You Have 48 Hours"

The beef between Iggy Azalea and Azealia Banks just got taken to the next level. After Iggy's foolish series of tweets today in response to Banks' Hot 97 interview on cultural appropriation in hip-hop, hacker group Anonymous has rode in on a white horse to seriously escalate matters.

Anonymous, never a group to quietly go about their business, tweeted a series of messages at Iggy. They deemed her "guilty of misappropriating black culture, insulting peaceful protesters, and making light of Eric Garner's death" and threatened to leak screenshots from her rumored sex tape, among other things, to wreck Iggy's public image. Anonymous is demanding an apology, or else.

I hate Iggy Azalea's music. I think she's corny and lame, but this is stupid

Could care less about Iggy and Banks. Don't care for eithers' music.

But hopefully, something leaks. I doubt she listens and apologizes. She said she never would do that.

Why would something leaking being good? As I said in other threads and in here I hate her music but why be hopeful that it leaks? That's lame.

Im glad to see for the most part a lot of people arent buying into what Banks is saying. She made some very good points, but some wrong ones/ I would pay good money just to have a one on one convo with her about race in hip hop. She seems like the type of person who doesnt think

And Q-Tip is stupid for going at Iggy too

If we were to tell whites to stop supporting hip hop then the genre would wither away. Im not liking how racial some artists are making it. Race shouldnt matter, skills should.

Christ I cant believe Im defending Iggy.

I have to side with Banks on all this. She makes a lot of solid points it just gets lost in some of her crazier things she says.Q-Tip's points are really strong too. This whole Iggy thing is like Vanilla Ice 2.0.Plus I don't really have that much sympathy for her due to some of the things she's pretty much said or tweeted in the past.

I have to say though that something like a sextape leaking would be horrible and I think that's going a little too far.

I don't respect Peter Rosenberg for going at Chuck D. Public Enemy deserves a radio platform. The commercial stations scarcely make use of their HD channels. There's no place for alternative-independent rap, or for 15+ year veterans outside of the "acceptable legend" zone (who still have ties to major labels) of Jay Z, Kanye, Eminem and maybe Ludacris.

I think it's idiotic that female rap groups "don't exist" anymore, if your frame of reference is radio and VH1. Even with female soloists, it's been narrowed down to, what, three prominent women and that's it? There's an incredible imbalance in that.

I mean forget female rap groups how many popular rap groups are there period. And by groups I mean more than 2 members.

All I can think of is Migos

... so who is Migos?

traditional groups (with ties to major labels) across the board have gone by the wayside- the labels figure it's less investment for a solo person vs. signing a group; plus in the post-wu-tang era, everybody figures they have a shot at LL Cool J/Jay-Z level fame, so more folks are that much more eager to go strictly for a solo career even if they're "affiliated" with whatever.. and then these folks start setting up their OWN spinoff "movements" to whatever degree...(more people to take up stage space but not really doing much of anything). "groups" have been replaced by the "crew"/"clique" status via shared management or a record label (MMG, Cash Money/Young Money, A$AP Mob, etc.).. For the past 15 years, I have trouble clearly identifying who the DJ is in a given rapper's crew.. it's become a replaceable role..

It blows my mind that people are listening to Azealia Banks' Hot 97 interview or reading her tweets and are thinking she is intelligent. She is full of s***. I can't stand her. She's too damn ignorant and way too outspoken, especially given the fact that she doesn't really amount to too much in the grand scheme of things. Despite whatever music she releases or whatever acclaim she receives, it upsets me that she clearly has issues. She just talks too much damn s***.

It must suck that Iggy Azalea is getting her spotlight while Banks isn't.

I find it all reeks of tribalism and entitlement. Why not take away Jimmy Hendrix guitar or boot the jackson family out of the genre they were/are playing in. No black country singers and no white rappers(starting with Shady). Take this mind set to it's conclusion, draw out some lines and stick to them, see where that would leave us. It's all so fickle and wrecks of insecurity and contempt.

I do think Kendrick's album was a once in a life time thing but I grew tired of how people belittle all that Macklemore did and spoke to(and independent of a label too). It's hardly Vanilla Ice.
Then you have all this talk of conscious rap and the 70's movement, as if modern hip hop with the videos and consumption and what not has anything to do with that.

The irony I personally find being that Banks wasn't the skin colour she is, I'd find her output 'whiter' than Iggy's.

What a shame.
I find myself imagining for 2 seconds if the roles were reversed and it was a 'white' 'band' speaking out against blacks making or being celebrated in 'white' music. It would no doubt be called out for what it is.

I agree with a lot youre saying but black people invited the blues, soul and in turn rock and roll so your Hendrix/Jackson analogy/example is a little faulty. The example I would use is basketball. Created by white guys (Canadians...:cmad:) but now look how it's dominated by blacks and other races.

The thing is that people should give a s*** about the Grammys. Grammys and awards in general go to the wrong people all the damn time.
In Hip Hop history are we going to remember Good Kid Maad City or The Heist? Who cares if Kendrick didnt win a Grammy. Also the whole Grammys dont like Black People controversy. The only white rapper who made a significant impact was Eminem. 2 artists with the most wins,, in any genre, are Kanye and Jay Z.

Azalea Banks is one of those people that blacks can do no wrong, cant be racist, and that every plight they suffer is because of whites. Im not saying whites havent and dont do messed up things every day

I dont like the accent Iggy puts on. But the way they call out Iggy they need to call out wack artists in general. Their hurting the culture more than her. I doubt Young Thug or hell even Drake know the history of hip hop. You can't hold that against them though

TI responded and now people are calling TI an uncle Tom: http://www.complex.com/music/2014/12/t-i-defends-iggy-azalea-responds-to-q-tip

How come they havent called out Riff Raff (I actually like Riff Raff, he's a joke I look at him like I look at The Lonely Island)
