Justice League The Home Release Thread - Hopes & possible fears

On the whole, the GA don't notice or don't give a rats ass on this or Tarkin-level CGI shifts.

yea rogue one was on tv. and i asked my wife if she thought tarkin was real or cgi.

and she thought it was a real person.

lot of people can't tell these things unless you're read up on the news and looking for it.

Sounding like another rush just to get it out to market and cash in/out quickly. I'm not betting on a whole lot of extra scenes :(

With a turn around this quick there probably wont be any extras period. No behind the scenes featurettes, no commentary, no nothin.

Is it possible there has been no news from WB on this film because they're working on the Snyder cut? :oldrazz:

They must be having a 2 hr 20 min (approximately) version of this movie with them before it was further trimmed down to 121 min.

They can just release that and call it as an 'Extended Cut'.

Yes I was hoping that would be the BR release. That hope is also why I made peace with the runtime when it was announced, because I was predicting they'd just release the "real", uncut version of the movie later.

I'm hoping that the initial cut that made under Whedon's supervision, with effects and music scores locked in, was longer than 2 hours.

The reason why I say that is because if the studio doesn't need to spend any more additional funds in putting extra footage into the theatrical cut, then maybe our chances for an extended cut would rise higher since I don't think Warner Bros is willing to fork over any more money in this film.

Yup agreed.

Its gonna be bare bones kids, get ready for it. It'll be 'We went to all this trouble on some lovely art for the cover, oh, you wanted actual material ? .....We want to all this trouble on some fancy art.....BUY IT !!!!'

Green Lantern (2011) bombed and WB still released that 'Extended Cut' after few months of release of the Theatrical Cut.

Justice League will most likely break even if you take into account the box Office collections (most likely to end within 660 mil. range) and the money earned by Merchandise sales (like Toys, action figures, T-shirts), DVD & Blu-Ray sales.

Green Lantern did worse, it's merch was left unsold on the store shelves after the movie's release, nobody bought it, the movie itself earned only 219 mil with a budget of 200 mil, it was a bigger bomb financially speaking, the effects of which are still felt, as WB is still not confident in a GL movie.

What I'm saying is.. even after all that they still released GL's Extended Cut, so there's some hope.

In all fairness to GL, it didn't have the complete ****storm that has tracked the JL film in terms of all the 'who shot what' / re-shoot bunkem and so placing in a few extended scenes and non cinematic scenes into GL was far easier than re-editing / re-working a cinematic JW film into the 'correct' ZS home release version.

Theres also the very real possibility that there IS no extended version and from the very beginning Whedon was specifically brought onboard make this movie 2 hours and not a minute longer. Danny Elfman said the movie we saw is the only version he scored which if hes telling the truth is an indicator right there that theres nothing else. :(

I'm assuming that alternate / extended cuts of superhero films are profitable, studios wouldn't keep bringing them out otherwise. If WB made money off BVS:UE and SS:EC then I can't see why they wouldn't do the same thing with JL. We know they have plenty of footage.
I'd love to get a Snyder cut, even if it had no score and incomplete effects, but realistically I expect a 2hr15 - 2hr30 Whedon cut.
I hold out hope that in some point a bit later on we might get Snyder cut, but this could be years from now.
We may need to wait for the scenes to be included as extras on something released in a decade or so.
I don't want to have to wait for someone to write their memoirs before we find out what the original Snyder/Terrio vision would have been.

Anyone started on their fan edits yet?

BvS made at least $73m in DVD and BR sales and that's just DVD sales up to Nov 2016 and BR sales up to Jan 2017 in the US only.
So you can at least double that for worldwide and then add a bit more - that doesn't include streaming.

Fears, well other than not releasing the "Snyder cut CGI Mouth-Free Edition", they'll add a few more clips, but most of them done by Whedon, and we'll only be disappointed.

Yep...expect to be disappointed.

But also...not even at least improving the CGI mouth if they're only releasing a Whedon extended cut.

just saw K Smiths vid on the Snyder cut details of what could have been, ...unfinished cut. Sounded incredible.

I wonder how much it would cost to "finish" that version with VFX etc.

They say there are 250K sigs on the Snyder cut petition.

Someone should begin a KickStarter or FundMe to raise the money to complete the vision! Get Donations etc. How much could it cost $25 mil? Anyone in the industry know?

I think it could be done and should be done.

I'm not gonna lie, I'd happily contribute a good amount of money to a Kickstarter to polish the Snyder cut and release it. Realistically, i dont think it'd raise nearly enough money. MAYBE a couple million at most unless theres a rich dedicated Snyder fan out there.

Yeah I dont think that's gonna work, and it will look desperate and frankly cringeworthy. There are far better causes out there to provide money for.

I think we did what we could. We voiced our discontent, the media criticised them for it, the critics were harsh on the movie, the movie failed at the BO, many people involved with the movie have voiced their problems and hopes for a director's cut, and the petition has amassed over 165K votes. We did what we could. Now its upto WB to do what's right.

May not work but maybe trying will show WB real interest and maybe raising just some of the cost could spark the fire that will burn the Whedon cut to the ground! :cwink:

Not knowing what it would take to complete is a factor, but there could be very well off celebs that would take an interest and would put up some serious cash.

...and there is no better cause I know of !:cwink::o

Give me the snyder cut even with the unfinished VFX.
