The Horror Thread - Part 1

I honestly hated the fact that she was in the film so much that when she was killed I cheered in the theater, such a terrible actress that's probably why she never acted in anything ever again.

Same.

It was such a trend in horror movies at the time to include a singer/rapper and have them die a horrendous death.

I kind of like her dynamic with the nerdy kid. I was kind of sad when the nerdy kid died, I liked him and he went out like a badass helping his friends.

the worst thing about FvJ was the wannabe Jason Mewes kid

She making a comeback next year :(

I remember not wanting to ruin anything going in to this movie, then seeing a clip on tv about the press conference...

I knew there and then that this movie wasn't going to be the Freddy vs. Jason I wanted.

Actually, I did in fact notice Jason's eyes in that movie. FvJ wasn't really a horror movie per se, it was an action move. I enjoyed it on that level, the fights were really entertaining.

Oh, please. If you noticed his eyes, all you noticed was a blank stare that made him look like even more of a lifeless zombie with a ridiculous lazy eye and one the the worst Jason masks of the series.

To this day when I watch FVJ all I can do is picture how BADASS it would've been had Hodder been cast, it really is one of the worst casting decisions of all time.

Yeah. It's really sad because Hodder would've made a HUGE difference. That final fight would've been way more badass.

Don't presume to tell me what I saw or didn't saw, it makes you look arrogant. I noticed his eyes, simple as that, if you didn't, that's fine.

They made fun of that in the "Never Sleep Again" documentary.

Jason was pretty terrible in FvsJ. Really Englund as Freddy was the only good thing about it, considering he was a little more evil than he was in previous sequels, New Nightmare excluded. I just wish they hadn't given him so many cornball moments too. I also think it should have been longer so we could have actually let the story flow. They explained everything, instead of filming it in a way to let the story tell itself. The soundtrack was awful. Kerzinger was probably the worst Jason ever, they really needed Hodder.

And yet I still like the movie, mostly for the fights, and again, Robert Englund was awesome. But its pretty low tier.

It was a fun movie. I've actually only seen it the one time in the theater. I need to see it again.

I saw it twice. Once when my friend and I snuck in to see it (we were 14 when it came out), and one when another friend had a birthday party, and his parents took him, about four other friends, and I to see the movie.

I've seen it sinc eon DVD too though.

The two best things about Freddy vs Jason were the final fight between the two icons, and the blonde chick's rack (I guess that would be the three best things, wouldn't it?).

Why didn't they get Jason Mewes. I think he would of enjoyed doing the film if he was available at the time.

Freddy vs Jason was awful in many regards , but I'd rather have what we got instead of nothing. The final fight was a lot of fun. I hated Monica Keena. That was probably the first time I wanted the "final girl" to die. Since it's part of the Friday the 13th collection I recently purchased my plan is to watch it with the commentary. I'm halfway through watching all the Friday the 13th films.

On Freddy vs Jason I loved that movie. And yes the highest grossing entry in both franchises was a good idea. There was nowhere else to go a the time with the two characters so pitting them against each other was an interesting idea. One I think they executed very well. My only complaint was that we didn't get to see Hodders Jason but I thought Kirzinger did a good job.

Freddy vs. Jason was in development hell for so many years, so despite it's flaws I'm happy with what we got; especially with all the ideas so many different writers had for it.

Yeah and some of those were awful lol there was one where it was a court case with Jason on trial

I would've preferred the actual Jason Mewes over some unknown dweeb doing a bad "Jason Mewes As Jay" impersonation. I don't remember, was Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back being made at the same time as Freddy vs Jason? Or did that come out a lot earlier?

I wasn't all that impressed with Monica Keena's acting ability (although it was better than Kelly Rowland's, which isn't saying much). But hit the mute button on the TV and it's fun to watch her jiggle. She'd make a great stripper, or possibly even a porn star. Luckily I think FvJ was the death of her mainstream acting career, as I haven't seen her in anything since.

I've read that one. It actually wasn't as bad as you might think. It was certainly better than a lot of the scripts that came after it wound up being. I don't even want to know what the scripts with the "Fred Heads Cult" in them were like.

See I don't think Kelly Rowland was even that bad in FVJ. I mean have we all watched every Friday and Freddy movie they aren't exactly busting at the seems with great actors. I mean there's a few who want on to amazing things for sure but we don't really watch these sorts of films for people who can act. We watch them to see people get killed in imaginative ways.

Like I said before, it certainly wasn't because she could act but because she was popular at the time. A lot of horror and horror/comedy movies were casting singers and rappers in movies.

Oh of course but on the flip side I wouldn't say she was anywhere near as cringeworthy as say Busta Ryhmes in Halloween Resurection. Who wanted the spot light and unlike LL Cool J in H20 she was willing to die on film.

I would agree with that.

He didn't even have proper dialogue. Just spewed out random one liners.

I'm looking forwards to these Horror movies Oculus, Where The Devil Hides, Rec4, Last Days On Mars, The Quiet Ones and Dark Touch.
