Most actors and actresses start off in horror movies.

Bacon, Depp, McConaughey, Jamie Lee Curtis, DiCaprio..

I just think she could of gotten her point across without being as offensive.

If the script etc sucked that bad...simply turn the movie down. Instead, she leaped at the chance to do the film...her performance was one of the worst things about the film, and then after it helped her become a star and she moved on to "real" movies, she openly trashed it.

Candyman 8.0/10

I had no idea what to expect and I was pleasantly surprised.

Offensive or not I would agree with her if I were in that film, I'm a pretty big Freddy fan but that flick just had too much wrong with it, as in IMO it's one of the worst horror remakes of all time.

I hadn't watched it since my third viewing in the theater it's opening weekend until the other night when it played on AMC when the opening credits came on and it played the original score for a split second I actually got excited but then five minutes in I remembered how bad it is.

Everyone and everything in that movie is so dark and gritty that it leaves no diversity for when Freddy shows up, it's just a failed attempt altogether.

Candyman is probably the next movie I'll be watching. I haven't seen it in years but I always remember Tony Todd's performance was particularly creepy, and good.

I'm sure some people in the film would agree , but you don't bite the hand that feeds. It could of been much better though. Who knows what will happen , but I don't think we've seen the last of FREDDY .

It's a great horror film  All this talk about Candyman is leading me to put that on the list for this year.

Screw that chick. She isn't even the best actress in her immediate family. She has repeatedly trashed the ANOES remake, and while it is not a great film, it gave her a huge break and helped turn her from a nobody into a major star. Then, as soon as she gets "above" that, she starts trashing it.

I agree with this. I remember reading an interview with her around the time of Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, and she said that after she read for the part in ANOES, she walked out praying/hoping she didn't get the part because she didn't want to do that movie. Yeah ****ing right. It's not like she was some starving struggling actress. Her family is super rich. She didn't have to take the part to pay for her next meal.

Anything to do with Horror films (directing, writing, starring, cinematography) is the easiest way to get into Hollywood. That and softcore porn.

I'm frustrated that Nightmare on Elm street remake did well enough and there was no follow up. I think if that series went on the sequels would of been fun. I do like Halloween 2. It's so distant from the actual series , but Zombie has an interesting take. I'd like someone to bring Michael back to his roots and not be trying to compete with a Friday the 13 th film. Texas Chainsaw 3D had the right idea . It was awful though , I can't stand it. At least Jason's coming back and Final Destination 5 was decent.

I can't believe we haven't got another a Elm Street or Friday tbh (thankfully Paramount look to be rectifying that). It's Warner Bros, these properties would gave sequels by now at another studio,

The one I want is another Halloween film. I really feel like I need a good Halloween film.

According to Rooney Mara, who was nominated for an Oscar just a few years later, almost quit acting after hating her role in the Nightmare on Elm Street remake.

What a *****, I hate when actors have a go at past roles they should be grateful.

It is all the talk about it that's got me reminiscing about the movie. It's one that I always mean to rewatch but never get around to and it's time to just go watch it.

How about Dennis Haysbert for a Candyman remake?

Candyman was abit of a childhood nightmare for me lol i was 10 and on holdiday in jamaica, it was around about 10 at night and for some odd reason they played the film on a big screen for the main pool area lol i was just swimming minding my own business until i looked up and saw bee's coming out of this brother's mouth. I didnt stay to watch as you can imagine and got the **** out of there .

As for Texas Chainsaw 3D they just ****ed it up(again) why cant they get those films right. I dont understand. Mind you i will be watching the 1974 version at Halloween because its in my top ten. Great film and i knew i was in for a disturbing ride when that drunk guy falls off his chair (at the grave yard) and delivers that chilling statement " w..what they dont know about. They dont tell about. I see things. I cant remember the actual quote .

Just because you think they can doesn't mean its a good idea either.

It just seems like a bad idea to latch onto Sam as the focus. While he is cool there is so much about the film that would be difficult or pointless to reproduce in a sequel. While it is an anthology it is done through a very crafty Pulp Fiction style chronology. Plus so much of it was done to evoke a very specific mood and reflect upon a set of traditions.

Furthermore, Dougherty himself doesn't seem overly enthused about it. Pretty much anytime he's asked about it he deflects and says he's still just enjoying the ride of the growth of the first film and reflecting on the experience. He basically said what he wanted to say about the Halloween season with the film.

To each his own, but I specifically said they should keep Sam as background character so as to not latch onto him.

So far today I tackled Bride of Frankenstein and now FINALLY the Maniac remake which I actually quite enjoyed, not as a remake of the original Maniac but as its own original idea I loved the tone and the score was fantastic.

I've been watching old horror trailers on YouTube and I remember s******g myself when I saw this years ago on a vhs rental.

Funny thing is, I still haven't seen the movie. Any Texas Chainsaw fans here?

Anyone that isn't a Texas Chainsaw fan cannot truly call themselves a horror fan. ;)

On Trick 'r Treat, has anyone ever seen the Tales From the Darkside episode titled Halloween Candy directed by Tom Savini?

http://youtu.be/BafU9NgCXEg

The Sam portion of the film is pretty much this bar a few things.

i watch it every year. wouldn't have been as memorable without Savini's practical effects, though.

You'd have to have two horror icons that are successful simultaneously for it to make sense. FREDDY VS JASON was late ,but they were trying for years. I think with this new I,Frankenstein well get something resembling the Underworld series. There's really no two villains I think that could be put together right now. We are getting Superman vs Batman :yay:

Lector vs Jigsaw's ghost

Leatherface: TCM III is awful. The only thing that's worse is what came after -- TCM: The Next Generation. Literally one of the worst films ever made.
