Rob Zombie has pretty much said he's done making horror films at least for a long while.

http://bloody-disgusting.com/news/3262383/trailer-for-hammers-the-quiet-ones-whispers-online/ Trailer for Hammer's new movie "The Quiet Ones." This sounds awesome.

Inspired by true events, “Quiet Ones “tells the story of an unorthodox professor who uses controversial methods and leads his best students off the grid to take part in a dangerous experiment: to create a poltergeist. Based on the theory that paranormal activity is caused by human negative energy, the rogue scientists perform a series of tests on a young patient, pushing her to the edge of sanity. As frightening occurrences begin to take place with shocking and gruesome consequences, the group quickly realizes they have triggered a force more terrifying than they ever could have imagined.

I just watched it this morning, pretty cool makes me wonder what other goodies they've been hiding from us the last 35 years.

Or what they'll make me but on the enevitable 40th anniversary release. :oldrazz:

Watching Halloween II now. I'm not a fan of the score in this one. I know Carpenter still did the music but I find the rescored main theme very grating compared to the original.

John Carpenter actually DID NOT do the actual score for Halloween II, he gave the tracks of the original score to Alan Howarth who claims he '"copied and pasted" the tracks in and overdubbed on top of them only updating the score with a more "updated sound" hence the more synthesizer sounding score.

Oddly enough...I've watched less Horror movies this month than any other month of the year, by far.

Just watched TCM 2 yesterday. It was cool, really lacked some deaths though (in terms of victims).

The opening head slashed in half was pretty cool, as with any of Savini's effects.

6.5/10

Tonight I'm gonna have a marathon with tons of pumpin ale!
-Night of the Living Dead (Cinemassacre release)
-The Thing
-The Howling

Who on SHH wants to join ;P

Cashforstash I as well will be rocking my horror flicks with some pumpkin ale as always, my current choice has been Pumpking from Souther Tier, ever heard of it?

I love the synthesiser sounding score

I don't mind the Halloween II score myself but nothing including any of the sequels touches Carpenter's score from the first film.

Today I shall be watching Galaxy of Terror, Prince of Darkness, Body Bags and for the finale, Halloween.

i watched Body Bags before work. i wish that there were more movies, in that style. always fun to see a homicidal Mark Hamill.

i wonder why they kept tweaking the mask. it was perfect as is.

i wonder why they kept tweaking the mask. it was perfect as is.

I think it was because the original mask was taken home by Dick Warlock and they didn't have it to make any molds from etc. so after that they tried many times to recreate it with different levels of success. Tbh the one saving grace from Zombies remake was the mask it was the best since the original mask.

There have been rumours that Shatner or the people who made the Shatner mask threatened to sue but I don't believe that because the original mask is used on the cover art for several of the sequels.

It was but Dick Warlock took it home, I'm assuming it got beyond use while he had it so they had to start from scratch when recreating it.

Halloween (2007) - 8.5/10
Halloween (1978) - 9.5/10

Well that concludes my horror movie marathon! I had a blast! I would love to do this next year. I watched a lot of great movies and it was a fun experience. I wish I had more time though so I could have watched more movies.

I do have somewhat of a problem with both Halloween films. What compels Loomis to go to the gravesite of Judith Myers? How did he know Michael was going to take her tombstone?

According to Justin Beahm, (who is writing an official book about Halloween at the moment titled Halloween: The Complete Authorized History) who did a Halloween Megasode Google Live video with several fans, said that each movie had different companies making the mask each film.

He said that they also tried to tweak it, so that they had their own take on the original mask.

Rob Zombie has pretty much said he's done making horror films at least for a long while.

You mean the same Rob Zombie that said he hates remakes and would do one then turned around and made Halloween?

Or how about the same Rob Zombie that said he wouldn't do a sequel then turned around and did H2?

speculatively, who would you say is the stronger and faster of these two masked killers; Jason Vorhees or Michael Myers? i've watched a few of their films this October and haven't really come to any conclusion. they both have freakish strength; depending on the situation. Myers was strong enough to push his thumb through a human skull (and effortlessly do a one armed pullup). but Jason has popped heads as if they were moldy pumpkins. Jason definately moves faster. but Myers is also one of those "teleporter" types when he's found prey. hmmm.

Well my Halloween turned out scary....with a tornado warning....

Still gonna watch some more films until I go to bed if my power holds out.
