Ive seen it so i would like to know what you mean.

By letting us know that the husband is alive at the beginning of the movie, we know nothing is going to happen to him at the end, so it's not as intense as it could be. Visually, it's still a pretty cool moment when he's trying to get back to his wife, but I think it loses some of that impact because of the early reveal.

Scream Factory is going to be releasing Ravenous on Blu-ray this year.

Anyone else love this underrated film?

Been a long time since I've seen it but i remember liking Ravenous a lot.

great score by Damon Albarn from Blur/Gorillaz.

Guy Pearce cowardly soldier breaking his leg with the bone sticking out and Robert Carlyle as a crazy cannibal are the things I remember from the film.

ITV Horror Game Show 'Release the Hounds' which I mentioned before around Halloween has got a full season order in the UK and will air in the U.S through Blackbox TV. The show a large huge twitter buzz when it aired in the UK.

DARK CITY star Rufus Sewell is looking to pilot a new genre piece that is being pegged as a fun mix of ALIENS and EVENT HORIZON. sci-fi/horror flick ANIMUS, written and to be directed by commericials director Thomas Konkle.
...a space-journeying scientists who, on the way back from investigating some far-off moons, are hit by micrometeorites. One of the scientists is infected, and it’s no longer before another side of him comes out – threatening the family– killing the men, while dominating and impregnating the women. It’s up to the rest of the guys on the ship to kill the infected man – and thus, the monster within – before the evolved contagion makes it to Earth.

Have you guys seen the Dead Snow 2: Red vs Dead trailer?

Featuring Derek Mears as a soviet zombie raised from the grave to fight nazi zombies ... :woot:

I did, he (the guy who survived) got to level up the playing field some. :funny:

Can't wait to check this one out.

I thought I would share some exciting news: this afternoon, I will be interviewing Stef Hutchinson, who wrote the recent Halloween comics (First Death of Laurie Strode, Nightdance,) and some of the supplementary material (short stories and what not.)

Whoa nice, was it on an On Demand service somewhere?

Probably, I saw it through other means but I'm guessing there's a digital download somewhere.

I really enjoyed it, it had a nice twist to the ghost genre. It's almost like combining Nightmare on Elm Street with a Twilight Zone episode.

I'm watching "You're Next" right now. Not bad so far, if a little predictable. I will say, creepiest scene so far
is when the mom gets put to bed, and the guy slowly starts coming out from under the bed. Its real life stuff like that that can give me the creeps.

I was really looking forward to the conclusion of First Death Of Laurie Strode, but the series was cancelled before it was finished. I hate it when that happens.

Last night I watched the Cat People (remake eh not really) from 1982, since it was just released on the new Scream Factory blu-ray. I had never seen this film though I very much enjoy the original film.

The similarities are pretty much gone except for the title itself and the fact that people turn into cats. It was a good fun 80's romp, and had a great atmosphere about it, also watching a young Malcolm McDowell ham it up in creepy form is always a good time.

'Here comes the Devil'. Interesting little horror movie with subtitles. I really liked it

Review of "Lord of Tears"

I've heard very good things about this movie and have been intrigued for a while. Its available to rent streaming and to buy.

the DVD and Bluray come with a ridicioulous amount of extras. I'm probably going to pay to stream it and if I like it I may lay down the cash to buy it.

Darkness Falls

The tooth fairy is real, and evil. And really contrived, short (they had to pad the end credits to make it feature length), unimaginative, bad.

For a horror movie that could have been good it was awful. And there were plot holes throughout. The major one being the evil tooth fairy witch couldn't attack people in the light... and it was a thunderstorm at the end with lightning going on yet she doesn't disappear or become injured by it.

There were so many fake outs and teases that I just started yawning. Then when they destroy her for real I was waiting for the tease that hints at a sequel. Fortunately their tease was a fake out too and no more was going to come of it.

I do feel sorry for the actors involved in it though, to have this on their resume.

I entirely agree with you. I was excited for the movie when I heard of the plot and saw the design in a Fangoria(I think) before it came out, and was disappointed with the movie. I think the only part I kind of found redeeming was the staircase section.

Oh god, I remember this movie. Well, not that much anymore, but I remember the hype among my friends. See, it came when I was 14, and at the time we were really getting into horror. By this point I'd seen Halloween and Nightmare and F13, but it was one of the first horror films any of us would really get to see in theaters. And, sadly, we all thought it was awesome. Now, a little bit later a couple of us got to see a better, still not great horror film in Freddy vs. Jason, but it was far more enjoyable. I went back and watched Darkness Falls a few years later after seeing a lot more films, and it really is awful.

Another one like that, I think actually the first for us, was Wes craven's They. And that movie in hindsight was horrible too.

Devil's Pass

A decent "found footage" horror movie for once. The ending has a twist coming to it that is all but spelled out for you about 15-20 minutes before the movie ends. That still doesn't make the ending bad. But it is fairly predictable what will happen (rather appropriately, as you'll see if you watch it). Although the CG work could have been better it isn't the worst I've seen either. Mostly it's kept to the shaky camera work and darkness to mask low quality CG.

For me this is one of those rare found footage movies that doesn't suck. It is put to good use, isn't gimmicky (although at times it can be annoying, shaky cam) and fits the story.

Without giving away anything, the story is about a 2013 expedition by a bunch of college kids recreating a lost expedition in the snowy Russian Ural Mountains from 1959 to discover what happened to them. It builds up the tension of what/who/how/why with the lost scientist expedition.

There isn't a lot of blood, only brief bits of gore and flashes of the creatures.

The most unfortunate part is how long it takes for the action to get going. It's a slow burner and the acting and dialogue can sometimes be stilted and flat. Once things start happening though the pace does quicken. Then almost overwhelming near the end.

I watched this a few nights back and actually liked it quite a bit. Definitely one of the better found footage films.
