Ive seen it so i would like to know what you mean.
Scream Factory is going to be releasing Ravenous on Blu-ray this year.
Anyone else love this underrated film?
By letting us know that the husband is alive at the beginning of the movie, we know nothing is going to happen to him at the end, so it's not as intense as it could be. Visually, it's still a pretty cool moment when he's trying to get back to his wife, but I think it loses some of that impact because of the early reveal.
A family who move into a remote English country estate, where it is rumoured the original owner killed his wife in a demonic ritual.
...a space-journeying scientists who, on the way back from investigating some far-off moons, are hit by micrometeorites. One of the scientists is infected, and it’s no longer before another side of him comes out – threatening the family– killing the men, while dominating and impregnating the women. It’s up to the rest of the guys on the ship to kill the infected man – and thus, the monster within – before the evolved contagion makes it to Earth.
Whoa nice, was it on an On Demand service somewhere?
It gets better.
I thought I would share some exciting news: this afternoon, I will be interviewing Stef Hutchinson, who wrote the recent Halloween comics (First Death of Laurie Strode, Nightdance,) and some of the supplementary material (short stories and what not.)
Darkness Falls
The tooth fairy is real, and evil. And really contrived, short (they had to pad the end credits to make it feature length), unimaginative, bad.
For a horror movie that could have been good it was awful. And there were plot holes throughout. The major one being the evil tooth fairy witch couldn't attack people in the light... and it was a thunderstorm at the end with lightning going on yet she doesn't disappear or become injured by it.
There were so many fake outs and teases that I just started yawning. Then when they destroy her for real I was waiting for the tease that hints at a sequel. Fortunately their tease was a fake out too and no more was going to come of it.
I do feel sorry for the actors involved in it though, to have this on their resume.
Devil's Pass
A decent "found footage" horror movie for once. The ending has a twist coming to it that is all but spelled out for you about 15-20 minutes before the movie ends. That still doesn't make the ending bad. But it is fairly predictable what will happen (rather appropriately, as you'll see if you watch it). Although the CG work could have been better it isn't the worst I've seen either. Mostly it's kept to the shaky camera work and darkness to mask low quality CG.
For me this is one of those rare found footage movies that doesn't suck. It is put to good use, isn't gimmicky (although at times it can be annoying, shaky cam) and fits the story.
Without giving away anything, the story is about a 2013 expedition by a bunch of college kids recreating a lost expedition in the snowy Russian Ural Mountains from 1959 to discover what happened to them. It builds up the tension of what/who/how/why with the lost scientist expedition.
There isn't a lot of blood, only brief bits of gore and flashes of the creatures.
The most unfortunate part is how long it takes for the action to get going. It's a slow burner and the acting and dialogue can sometimes be stilted and flat. Once things start happening though the pace does quicken. Then almost overwhelming near the end.
