I've also heard about the sleep paralysis stuff. But that doesn't explain why it happens to people who are wide awake!:csad:

Maybe something happens to our consciousness when we experience sleep paralysis. Something that enables us to see all the scary stuff that goes on around us...maybe they're real...OH NO MAYBE THEY ARE DEMONS OR ALIENS FROM ANOTHER DIMENSION!!!:wow: Hurry, hurry! Hide yoursouls inasafeplacetheyarecoming *twitch* We are safe in my basement! Just have to remove all the body parts and urine bottles...:wall:

But seriously, I wonder why so many people see the same thing. A man with a hat...maybe it's a subconcious fear of hipsters. Maybe our ancestors experienced something horrible.

Caveman: "Oh no, there's Ughram again. I can't stand that guy."

Caveman 2: "I know, he's probably going to talk about that stupid neanderthal band nobody has heard about. Let's just pretend we're texting..."

Ughram: "I know you're avoiding me, Fred and Barney...soon, you will pay for it..."

(Years later)

Paleonthologist: "It looks like these guys were murdered... in their sleep!:wow: (dramatic music)"

:pal: :lmao: :pal: to the bolded parts.

But seriously, I recently read an article on a recent study on Sleep Paralysis (or Sudden Unexplained Death Syndrome as it used to be called) and why it can be lethal to people from South East Asia. I think it was on Yahoo. It was interesting reading. I'll try and find a link to it and post it here.

As for the TCM franchise, I'll do a list too.

1. TCM (original)
2. TCM remake
3. TCM 2
4. TCM 3
5. TCM: The Beginning
6. TC 3D
7. TCM: NG

I can see Figs how you'd not be impressed by the remake, seeing as how it is that, remake, but it really has very little in common with the original. The same general idea is there, but it does a lot different, and I hate to be biased, but I actually saw the remake first, then immediately saw the original, and was able to see them as different entities. Its been a long time, I guess it was 2003, because I saw TCM remake opening night. Most of the other sequels are crap, I like TCM 2 because it is a silly sequel and was emant to be that. TCM 3 is overly serious, has some good gore, but otherwise nonsensical.
I didn't hate the TCM The Beginning, I mostly feel R. Lee Eremy saved it. IT bad though, and really failed to follow up on the remake. TC3D, on the other hand, I feel was just awful in so many ways. the ending twist, which really wasn't a twist because the first part of the film spelled it all out, was so bad.

Also, the less said about TCM: Next Gen., the better.

That's pretty much how I would rate them, except I'd switch TCM 2 & 3 in the list. TCM 2 was pretty much a parody to the original. The third movie at least attempted to be scary again. Plus, the version I saw was the unrated director's cut, so it probably had improvements over the MPAA enforced theatrical cut.

The remake was actually pretty good, and I generally dislike remakes. It had pretty good suspense and violence (and who doesn't love that close up of Jessica Biel's butt as she walks along in those skin tight jeans). It gets high marks for style, but unfortunately they omitted (or at least glossed over) the whole cannibalism aspect of the storyline. Someone had pointed out (I think earlier in this thread) that cannibalism was implied by shots of body parts in mason jars. But that could be interpreted as being trophies, not tomorrow's lunch. Thus the movie failed to be as great as it had the potential to be.

I think this oversight is why they made the prequel. They were like "F**k! We forgot to make Leatherface and his family cannibals! Okay, let's do a prequel explaining that they've been eating people for years! That'll make people like our remake even more!" Unfortunately they also made the movie predictable with little if any suspense.

TCM 3D had potential, but unfortunately never lived up to it. The kills were predictable, and the overall execution of the film was sub-par.

I never bothered watching Next Generation, and from everything I've heard I'm glad that I did.

Put this poster together for one of my all time favorite horror films, for the Cult Movie Thursdays event we do every week locally, pretty excited I'm sure it's going to sell out.

Free beer? (buys plane tickets)

In all seriousness, will we be seeing a Freddy or Jason flick by 2017?

I think a slasher movie with either Krueger or Jason could still be set in the 80's, and pays homage to all the films it had in the 80's.

Like imagine a Freddy movie that takes place in 1986 (the year with no Freddy movies) and it was filmed with real 80's equiptment (for that real effect), and every prop/outfit was from the 80's aswell.

The whole idea sells itself. :hubba

Badass poster.

I think Freddy is dead and that's probably a good thing.

Alice Sweet Alice.

Low budget, 1976, Brooke Shields, it has it all.

FANTASTIC movie. Legit creepy in every way--the mask, the cat-hoarding landlord (who was an interesting character in real life), the camera angles in certain spots. Just an all-around freaky film.

I might pick up VHS 2 because I want to see Gareth Evan's segment. Did anyone here see the film and is it any good? I didn't see the first VHS either.

I think it was better than the first film and Gareth Evan's segment was probably one of the best ones. Not really a great anthology but worth a watch. There were two good stories in the first one you might want to check out.

Well, Robert Englund is going to be a guest at this year's Vancouver Fan Expo. I'm planning on going this year (I've never been able to attend before for one reason or another). I plan on asking him his opinion on the future of the Nightmare On Elm Street franchise.

Personally, I would really like to see a movie about Freddy's days as The Springwood Slasher. His reign of terror, his arrest, his trial, his release, and his eventual burning at the hands of the parents of his murder victims. Try watching the series of fan films by Blinky Productions that I had posted links to on this thread. I thought Chris had done an awesome job writing & producing them. And the guy they got to play Freddy does an excellent job of being deceptively creepy. Although for a larger, mainstream version, I would want Robert Englund to reprise the role.

Gareth Evan's segment was really good and might of even worked as a feature.

I like the alien abduction segment as well. The rest of VHS 2 was meh

(y) that sounds prime. I believe there was talk of a Springwood Slasher film before the remake went into production. The only thing is Robert does look a little old now (not as old as he really is though), and we have seen pre-burnt Freddy in the original series so it could confuse some people.

I believe Robert englund was in his late 30's when he filmed the first ANOES.

They need to do another Freddy vs. Jason movie pronto. How there was never a sequel to that awesome film sooner, I'll never know, the film made a killing at the box-office, and it did fantastic on home-video. So, with that in mind, why's the studio so hesitant on making another? I just don't get Hollywood, something works (finally) and then they just give up and hit the "REBOOT" button instead. Also, I'd love to see another Predators sequel, as I really enjoyed Predators, and I'd rather see a sequel to that than Prometheus (I'd like to see a director's cut of Prometheus before they press forward with a potential sequel).

Actually I think he was in his early 30's when they filmed the first ANOES movie. And, if I remember correctly, he almost didn't get the part because the casting director thought he was too young. Also, they never truly showed a pre-burned Freddy in any of the movies (except briefly in flashbacks in Freddy's Dead, and in the very beginning of Freddy vs Jason). I think all Robert Englund really needs is a good dye job on his hair to make him look young enough to play an unburnt Freddy.

Also, I don't think any of the films mention Freddy's exact age of when he was torched, so he could have been almost any age when he died. All we really know is that he was burned to death in the late 1960's or early 1970's. They don't specify exactly how old he was when that happened (although I think the spirit of his mother mentions the year he was conceived in Part 3, so that narrows it down some).

I don't think audiences would be confused. I think they're aware that actors age.

There was that episode of Freddy's Nightmares about the trial though. Did anyone see that?

Yeah, it was the show's premier episode "No More Mr Nice Guy". You used to be able to watch it on You Tube, but every time someone posts it WB forces YT to take it down. Seems a strange policy considering that they refuse to release the show on DVD. Not even a limited "Best Of" set.

Anyway, the TV version diverted from the story Nancy's mom tells her in the original movie. Rather than "the search warrant not being filled out correctly" they changed it to "Freddy wasn't Marandized during his arrest". But I liked the show anyway.

ANOES 4 - Pre-burnt Freddy in Alices dream
ANOES 5 - Pre-burnt Freddy in the aslyum and on the bed
(Mind you, these are dream scenes)
Freddy's Dead
Freddy VS Jason

But I think it's a really just a minor gripe I would have if they did go the Springwood slasher route. I'd still love the **** out of it. Also...

He was 37 in ANOES 1984.

I don't recall Alice ever dreaming of a pre-burned Freddy in Part 4. But then I tend to stop watching at Part 3, as after that is when the movies start getting really silly. I did remember the asylum dream from Part 5, but Robert Englund was essentially playing the inmate who sired Freddy, not Freddy himself, which is why I didn't mention it. Incidentally, Robert Englund also played the school bus driver from the opening nightmare in Part 2. But when I mentioned movies with a pre-burned Freddy, I was referring more to movies that actually had Robert Englund playing Freddy before he was burned, rather than him playing other characters in nightmares who turn into Freddy (like the school bus driver, or the school nurse).

Yeah I meant the nurse. And I totally forgot about the bus driver cameo in Part 2.

yeah, i had the series on bootleg. unfortunately, the quality was so poor that i couldn't fully enjoy those episodes.

We won't be seeing another NOES film for quite a long time at this point and as much as we all would like the idea of another Freddy vs Jason film, without Englund this is no Freddy which means it will NOT ever happen.

I am very open to new ways to explore these characters but going the cheap found footage route for either is not the right direction, especially not for Jason.

Found footage MIGHT work for Jason. I don't think anyone ever mentioned found footage for Freddy. And I'd have to agree that found footage is most certainly not the way to go for ANOES.

I still think Robert Englund might reprise the role of Freddy in a prequel if asked. I'll find out next month when I get him to autograph my copy of Marvel's ANOES black & white comic (issue #1).

But I think you're probably right about us never getting another Freddy vs Jason movie. Not unless they reboot both franchises again, and do a much better job than before (by people who actually understand horror). Then we might get a New Freddy vs New Jason. But not for a long time.
