Well Bop, you are going to get something new.

Horror has been getting some good things via television lately so I'm interested.

I hope this show is on HBO, where they can get away with some of the more graphic material, they don't have to overdo it, but they won't have to worry about the censors either; which works wonders for the majority of the shows they have on that channel, such as True Detective, The Wire, The Sopranos and Game of Thrones, which are prime examples of quality television.

I really enjoy watching Horror movies, and I would say I'm a big fan, but I find myself disappointed with most of them. I find the Paranormal Activity movies to be just awful, and a lot of the other more "mainstream" horror movies I find quite forgettable or mediocre. Insidious, Sinister and movies like that. I thought The Conjuring was okay, definitely better than the other ones I mentioned, but it still didn't blow me away completely.

I really enjoy watching horror movies because in many cases there's the element of surprise, not quite knowing what will happen. I rarely get scared, and the truly scary movies are more the ones that stick with you (psychological horror) rather than jump scares. So I would say I'm a horror film lover, but I rarely find any good horror movies. If that makes any sense.

If you want psychological horror, you need to watch True Detective. Eight hour-long episodes of investigating that leaves you terrified at what lies beneath the places we sometimes overlook, the stones we forget to turn and the horror of overall life itself ("time is a flat circle" as a evil character refers to it).

I just watched Frankenstein's Army. For a relatively low budget movie it did well. The story could've been better handled and of course better effects but the attempt was servicable.

I was just disappointed they ultimately went the found footage rout with that, as it wasn't originally that way when they started.

I didn't find the shaky cam all that great either and I'm no fan of found footage either but at least this one made some sense instead of a contrived and ridiculous explanation for it all. Mostly not contrived anyways.

If he were to lose the beard, dye his hair red (or black, or blonde, just cover up the gray), and maybe get some botox injections & make up to get rid of the wrinkles, and that would be perfect.

definitely. but I like him better as burned Freddy, anyways.

It's kind of a double edged sword really. On the one hand, as long as he's wearing the burn make up, he can keep playing Freddy as long as he likes. But I think that a prequel movie would be very scary in a very different way, and would be all kinds of awesome. And a prequel movie would HAVE to have Mr Englund as an unburned Freddy.

I think Freddy's done. I'm not interested in a new actor playing him since I've come to accept Robert Englund as that character, like how Harrison Ford is Indiana Jones. I think the Halloween series deserves one last good movie to end its run. It can't end with Rob Zombie's, it just can't. John Carpenter's Halloween is a true classic and a finale should be something inspired by it.

F13, I'm down for whatever, as long as it's not a found footage. Jason has survived bullets, fire, and electrocutions, but a found-footage direction may very well kill Jason once and for all.

If they HAVE to replace Robert Englund for an Elm Street prequel, I say go with Jackie Earl Haley. His performance was one of the few things from the remake that I actually liked. Too bad the writing sucked. Or, if we were to go with an unknown, then I say go with Roberto Lombardi. He played Freddy in those Krueger fan films I had posted links to on previous pages. He did an amazing job, incorporating many of Freddy's trademark mannerisms while at the same time making the character his own (something more film makers and actors should do when remaking beloved classics).

As far as I'm concerned, the Halloween franchise ended in 1998 with H20. No need to end the franchise with yet another sequel. Laurie Strode chopped Michael Myers' head off with an axe, The End.

And as for Friday The 13th? I still say the way to go is a Survivors' Reunion, with Ginny, Paul, Chris, Tommy, Trish, Reggie, Pam, and maybe Megan and Tina, all being in group therapy together, bonded by their shared experience with Jason (or at least Roy Burns, in the case of Reggie and Pam). They go to Crystal Lake in order to get over their collective issues (PTSD, and whatever other psychological problems that lead to). While they're there, a bunch of College kids show up to spend the weekend drinking, getting high, and having lots of crazy naked sex. Jason shows up and starts mowing through the college kids. The survivors unite and take him down once and for all. Some of them survive the rematch, some of them don't. That's a better story than anything most Hollywood writers can come up with.

Watched a new movie called Proxy, which isn't a typical Horror film, but it isn't being covered anywhere but in Horror circles. In my opinion...the subject matter is dark enough that it qualifies, and the good aspects make it something people should watch.

A pregnant woman is two weeks away from giving birth...but is brutally attacked on her way home from an OBGYN appointment. Telling you any more would just be wrong, as the movie kept me on my toes the entire time, throwing me curve balls that I didn't see coming.

The good:
The lead actors are all strong for an indie film.
I appreciate that this film is led by women and dealing with female issues (I'm a guy, but still...it's rare).
It kept me on the edge of my seat with the constantly twisting plot, despite the film being 2 hours and moving at a slow pace.

The bad:
There is one scene...two really since they are connected...that only happens in a character's imagination. The movie has a ton of surprises...and then this happens...and I spent the rest of the movie waiting for it to be explained, only to eventually realize that it didn't actually happen. I mean...the scene made no sense if it were real...but the movie had been throwing curve balls for the previous hour. They should have been more clear that this stuff was in someone's imagination.

While the lead actors are fine, it seems that every other actor in the film is terrible. If a random person is speaking, it's delivered really poorly.

One character is a bit too much of a caricature. The movie goes off the rails any time it focuses on her.

It appears as though 'Halloween 3D' is about to go ahead, finally.

No details as of yet, but I'm not sure how I feel about this.

I really don't understand why there is more than 2 films with Michael Myers, or really even more than one.

Link? It's about damn time Michael made his way back to the screen.

Has anyone seen Afflicted? It's a damn good horror film. If you people enjoy [REC] and [REC]2 and Chronicle, you'll really enjoy this. So far it's easily the best horror film this year. I suggest to go into this movie cold, don't even watch the trailers or photos of it. It'll make it even better of a experience.

Here's my somewhat spoiler-free review:

There usually comes a time every now and then when great indie horror films that gets talked about for the future years to come...this is indeed one of them. I don't want to get too much into the plot because it's better off not knowing anything... even from the trailers. Basically imagine a horror version of Chronicle. What you have here is a mockumentary horror film and it's so awesome. You have believable characters which is key to every good horror film. They also move away from a lot of recent found footage clichés that you'd expect, which was a fresh surprise to me. You also have some very nice GO Pro POV shots that at times reminds me of [Rec] and [Rec]2. Basically, if you are a horror fan or a casual horror fan, this is indeed a must see. It might even sway those hardcore anti-found footage groups.
9.5/10

I saw Afflicted at Glasgow FrightFest back in February, really good film. Though I'd say The Sacrament, which was also playing at the festival, topped it and currently stands as the year's best horror so far.

they lost me at 3D. it sure didn't help that last Texas Chainsaw Massacre movie.

Some really brief news out of Cannes has Michael Myers being resurrected.

Our sources on the Cannes stomping ground tell us exclusively that The Weinstein Company is once again looking to get Halloween 3D off the ground. We don't have the names of any writers or directors attached, although Todd Farmer and Patrick Lussier had previously been working on a screenplay.

While we may be back at square one, at least the Weinstein brothers once again have Michael Myers on the brain.

It’s unclear if this would be a re-remake, or another sequel to Rob Zombie’s modern take.

Munchhausen-related, huh?

I would love if they didn't make Michael and Laurie related. Halloween is so much more disturbing if he was just doing it for no reason. Once you make it about him trying hunt out his sister, it loses some flare. A guy who is just killing young teens on Halloween in a seemingly nice neighborhood.

Wolf Creek 2 was a blast and was obviously made with horror fans in mind. A bit less character development and buildup than the first, but it made up for it with more action and gore.

Having him just be a random spree killer would ruin him IMO.
The whole thing about him being suddenly driven to kill his family is what makes him special and sets him apart from the rest.

He didn't really have a reason for killing before they got into the whole "curse of thorn" thing in the original series.
(Which should have never happened)

In the original Halloween Laurie wasn't Michael's sister and his victims were seemingly random (actually Laurie stopping by the Myer's place probably had something to do with).

I agree that it makes it much more creepier to not know the killer's motive. Fits in more with him being some evil supernatural force instead of something which we can understand.

Yeah, Carpenter wanted an exciting twist so that's why they became siblings and it set the whole hunting down the family thing.

I think it's more effective.
