Eh I've enjoyed the Paranormal Activity films... If I would have to rank them it would be:

PA 3 ---best
PA Marked Ones
PA 1
PA 2
PA 4 ---worst

Transformers 2 is easily the worst film I've ever paid to watch. I only saw it because my friends wanted to.

"I only saw it because my friends wanted to! I swear!" :hehe: you make it sound like it's illegal to watch Transformers 2 (maybe it should be?):woot:

Saw it on DVD, it was torture. But that didn't stop me from watching Transformers 3, because some people said it was much better than Turdformers 2. And it was even worse! How is that even possible? Two hours of Shia LaSomething screaming "Nononono Bumblebee aaah aaaaah", a crazy asian guy and some gay jokes. What a nightmare...

I liked the first paranormal activity a lot,but I've had no desire to watch any of it's sequels for some reason.

The first one was very good I admit, but I had no interest in going back to revisit that kind of film, so I never watched the others.

I definitely agree about Contracted. I thought the make-up was fine, but some of the acting was bad (especially the actress who played the mom), and some of what was required in the script...like everyone all but dismissing what was obviously a very serious problem...hurt the believability. Even the doctor, after watching her all but fall to pieces (literally) in front of him was like "You're a walking biohazard and a threat to everyone near you...have a nice day and come back some other time." I keep telling myself that this was all social commentary on how shallow we are (it took place in Los Angeles) but I'm not sure that the movie was that clever. Like...even the promo info talks about how she had a one night stand, but it was clearly a date rape...even though the character then treats it like a one night stand the entire rest of the film. Was this bad writing or am I supposed to assume that she blamed herself for the act and wanted to keep the info from her girlfriend so bad that even the promotional blurb for the DVD covered it up?

I read a few reviews of this one because the premise intrigued me. but I have the feeling that it's one of those movies that would leave me feeling uncomfortable (ex. 'Dead Girl'). horror stories hinging on date rape kind of get to me.

These Paranormal Activity films are cheap to make so it easy for them to turn a profit. There seems to be enough people willing to pay to see sequel after sequel of these films.

Maybe we should make our own Paranormal Activity? I can sleep while the camera is on, and you can slam the door a couple of times.

I'll provide the spooky sound effects by going "oohhhoohhooohh" and maybe throw something across the room from off camera so it can be seen flying through the air.

Honestly...the rape scene is never actually shown. She is very likely drugged (the guy hands her a drink claiming that it was hers and she didnt remember it, but drank it anyway), and it shows the outside of the car while she begs him to stop. Then, the rest of the movie treats it like a one night stand. I wouldn't let that one scene stop you from seeing the movie...though in my opinion they should have either made it a one night stand so that she would have had a genuine reason to maybe feel guilty like she cheated, or dealt with the fact that it was a drugged rape.

So I watched The Funhouse, an 80's Tobe Hooper film. I'd give it something like a 5/10. It has its moments but for a 96 minute film, nothing happens for at least the first 55. The rest is pretty standard horror fare and I probably could have watched something better.

I just got to meet Robert Englund at Vancouver Fan Expo. He was very cool. I asked him if he would be willing to play Freddy Krueger in a prequel to ANOES. He said he would love to lose 10 pounds and dye his hair red for the role.

In fact, he told me that before the remake was announced, there were talks of actually doing a prequel movie. He said that while he would appear periodically throughout the film as Freddy abducted and killed little kids, the stars of the film would have been the police and the lawyers. The police in arresting him, then the lawyers in getting him off on a technicality. Then the movie was gonna end with him being torched by the vigilante lynch mob.

Unfortunately the movie never got past the pre-planning stages. And now with the remake out there, there's even less chance of it happening.

Too bad too, because that movie would've been all kinds of awesome!

I understand the feeling. I put off purchasing this one for years. looking at the cover, it feels like a movie that would be special and memorable. the poster was my screensaver at work, all of last October. but the movie itself was kind of dull. there were good ideas in there. maybe they just didn't develop the story enough.

definitely. but I like him better as burned Freddy, anyways.

Has anyone seen Afflicted? It's a damn good horror film. If you people enjoy [REC] and [REC]2 and Chronicle, you'll really enjoy this. So far it's easily the best horror film this year. I suggest to go into this movie cold, don't even watch the trailers or photos of it. It'll make it even better of a experience.

Here's my somewhat spoiler-free review:

There usually comes a time every now and then when great indie horror films that gets talked about for the future years to come...this is indeed one of them. I don't want to get too much into the plot because it's better off not knowing anything... even from the trailers. Basically imagine a horror version of Chronicle. What you have here is a mockumentary horror film and it's so awesome. You have believable characters which is key to every good horror film. They also move away from a lot of recent found footage clichés that you'd expect, which was a fresh surprise to me. You also have some very nice GO Pro POV shots that at times reminds me of [Rec] and [Rec]2. Basically, if you are a horror fan or a casual horror fan, this is indeed a must see. It might even sway those hardcore anti-found footage groups.
9.5/10

:cmad:

Netflix doesn't have it yet.

It's currently On Demand but there are other means of getting it. If anything else, this seems it'll be on Netflix in the coming months.

You hit the nail on the head. It had a lot of potential, had awesome poster work, and had a director I enjoy from a few other films, but it was such a let down. For what its worth, I debated on getting the new Scream Factory release, which had extras and deleted scenes and such, but honestly after seeing it I never would have cared enough after seeing it. I ended up buying a $6 4-pack with Phantasm II, The Serpent and the Rainbow, and some low budget film called Ssssssssss. Haven't watched that last one but $6 for TSatR and Phantasm II justifies the price for me.

I've seen all of them. I'm glad that I gave the Serpent and the Rainbow another shot. I was probably too young to enjoy it; when it first came out. and Ssssssss...well, it's about as good as your average Syfy channel movie (that isn't Sharknado) or a long drawn out Night Gallery episode, iirc. you've bought it. so I hope that you enjoy it. but you'd get the same experience from watching the first 15 minutes and then fastforwading to the end.

I've never been interested in seeing old Englund picking up the glove again.

I mean, under makeup it wouldn't really matter but really they should just let the franchise lie, take its influence and make something new.

i wonder when they'll next attempt to reboot the "I Know What You Did Last Summer" franchise. i had forgotten that the other Mara sister was in the crappiest of those.

I think Freddy's done. I'm not interested in a new actor playing him since I've come to accept Robert Englund as that character, like how Harrison Ford is Indiana Jones. I think the Halloween series deserves one last good movie to end its run. It can't end with Rob Zombie's, it just can't. John Carpenter's Halloween is a true classic and a finale should be something inspired by it.

F13, I'm down for whatever, as long as it's not a found footage. Jason has survived bullets, fire, and electrocutions, but a found-footage direction may very well kill Jason once and for all.

Well Bop, you are going to get something new.

Deadline said:
After slicing and dicing his way through a dozen feature films, Jason Voorhees is ready to slash his way to small-screen stardom. Emmett/Furla/Oasis Films and Crystal Lake Entertainment have set a deal to produce a new hourlong dramatic series based upon the characters and settings of Friday The 13th. Sean S. Cunningham, who helmed the 1980 original, will be executive producer along with EFO Films principals Randall Emmett & George Furla, Mark Canton of Atmosphere Entertainment MM, Steve B. Harris of Diversion3 Entertainment, and Ted Fox of Fox Entertainment. Also producing is Horror Inc. president Robert Barsamian, who produced the features.

Bill Basso (Terminator) and Jordu Schell (Avatar) have been set to script a storyline that re-imagines Jason in multiple time periods. Roy Knyrim (Gods And Monsters) of SOTA FX will coordinate the special make-up effects for the series. If you recall, the original was set at a summer camp, closed because of the drowning of an unattended child. Promiscuous counselors tried to re-open the place, but they began dying. Jason actually took root as the indestructible villain in the second film, with his signature hockey goalie mask coming later. The series is contemporary, focusing on the eclectic characters of Crystal Lake who are forced to confront the return of the killer, as new secrets about his wacky family are revealed.

“Jason Voorhees is synonymous with the genre and we plan to build on this legacy with a provocative and compelling take that expands upon the storylines that have already thrilled millions worldwide,” explained Cunningham. Said Barsamian: “Expect the show to take viewers in some exciting new directions that we’re confident will not only excite existing fans of Friday The 13th but also attract new audiences to the situations and characters that inhabit the small town of Crystal Lake.”

Horror has been getting some good things via television lately so I'm interested.
