Found footage needs to die.
Even in the few movies I like that include it, I see no reason why it's needed. Take the Visit (yes, M. Night Shymalan actually made a decent movie again) for example. Why is it found footage? Could we not just see it through conventional means? Does it really add anything?
It's a gimmick that has run its course.
Or Afflicted
You mentioned A Christmas Horror Story above. That actually turned out to be a really solid movie. The only story I didn't like is the one with the kids under the school, as it felt like a slightly Christmas-y/religious take on a ghost story and nothing really happened. The rest were all pretty good to me. Along with Krampus, I think this is going to be a holiday tradition for me.
I came away with pretty much the same feeling about it. I found the school lock-in story to be the weakest. i liked the idea of the changeling. i liked the look of the krampus. and the wraparound story was pretty creative.
So is The Bye Bye Man just Slenderman? Because the first bit of the trailer is pretty much exactly Slenderman with a different design.
WOW i just Seen I Saw The Devil this film was freaking amazing ,very disturbing and quite nightmarish with a very chilling finale highly recommended 9/10

Man nothing about this movie looked remotely interesting. Every scene looked like it was taken from a previous film.
It's funny every 5-10 yrs or so someone will make a horror movie with some new scares and tricks which gets me excited and then for the next 5-10 yrs there are a bunch of copy cat directors pulling the same tricks but with poor execution. I guess this could be said about most genres though.
Adam Wingard an Simon Barret, who made the new Blair Witch are remaking this.
I'll check out 31 soon.
Maybe it was the recycled elements that made me like it as much as I died. I'm very much not a fan of either of his Halloween films, or Lords of Salem, although with LoS I at least admire he tried something new. I guess 31 was simple enough that it was decent and didn't do too much new, so it kept up with my low expectations.Anyone gonna check out Rob Zombie's 31? Just went up on VOD today. I watched it and I enjoyed it. Wasn't great and it really felt like he was shackled by his budget. There were a few too many elements that were too derivative of his past movies, like H1KC or TDR, but it was a decent afternoon horror flick.
