I don't blame them for adding more characters since they're stretching it out to two movies.
I'm a bit disappointed they're shooting the final two films digitally -- it'll save costs and add flexibility. But I like that slightly grainy, filmic look of the first two pics.
At least they're shooting with a great camera. They couldn't have picked a better one than the Arri Alexa XT.
Cool. I liked Robert Knepper in Heroes.
Curious. How do fans of the book feel about new characters being created specifically for the movie? It happens in comic book movies, too, but most of those aren't following one particular storyline to a fault.
I've been extremely tempted to read this book after enjoying the first two movies (especially Catching Fire) and wanting to see how the conclusion plays out, but based on the general reaction to it from fans, I'm a little worried that maybe I ought to just wait for the movie(s).
because i have read the book, i have the weird sensation of really looking forward to Pt 2 of this but not Pt 1.
basically, virtually EVERYTHING happens towards the end and the first two-thirds of the book is just set-up. it'd be like if Catching Fire ended right as Katniss was shot up into the arena or something. there's virtually no action in the book until the end.
i have to think they must be adding some action scenes or something to Pt. 1, but right now i have very little idea as to what those could be and that would fit the narrative in a natural way. i guess little skirmishes and stuff with Capitol troops or something?

I thought there was already a thread for it.
Having a hard time finding a great spot to end the first part on too.
