The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Parts 1 & 2

I think he's probably the BEST villain in the franchise. The other villains are way more underwritten, especially the dude from the fourth one.

Phelps was good in the first one. But yeah, Hoffman was the best villain of the franchise and I say that as someone who didn't particularly care for the third film.

I have always liked Voight's character, but I can see your point Octoberist.

With Phelps, it's like Ra's where he's the villain for only a segment of the film. I would place his villainy with The baddie from The Usual Suspects. A different category if you will.

Phillip was a pure villain with screen time through out MI3.

I hope he filmed all of his scenes because I don't want a recast. Of course if he didn't they will have to recast.

I think they could work around it…maybe..

[BLACKOUT]Using Haymitch to fill in, or whoever. [/BLACKOUT]

From THR:
Hoffman, who starred as head gamemaker Plutarch Heavensbee in Lionsgate's The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, was set to reprise his role in The Hunger Games: Mockingjay -- Part 1 and The Hunger Games: Mockingjay -- Part 2. The YA adaptation starring Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson has been filming in Atlanta, with both films being shot back-to-back. At the premiere for Catching Fire, director Francis Lawrence told THR that after the Christmas break they would be shooting for three more months in Atlanta before heading to Europe for two more months of shooting.

Hoffman had completed his work for Part 1, and had only seven days remaining to shoot on The Hunger Games: Mockingjay -- Part 2. Souces say the films’ scheduled release dates of Nov. 21, 2014 and Nov. 20, 2015, respectively, will not be affected by Hoffman's death.

Thanks for that Sawyer. I never thought his death would effect the release dates to be honest because he wasn't the star of the films. I just wanted to see his performances. It's too bad he hadn't quite finished filming Part 2.

I'd say its too bad he is dead, but yeah I see what you mean.

I think they can work around it somehow. It will be somewhat jarring though.

It would be best to have another character fill in the role from the remaining cast imo.

I already said something about his death in the appropriate thread. I am talking about the effect on the film right now in the appropriate thread. I NEVER said that the most important thing was a movie and not a man's life. It's foolish and hurtful for you to imply that I even remotely said anything of the sort.

You are right. I apologize SPIDEY. I was wrong and and completely insensitive.

That 7 days left of filming could have been vital scenes to the movie. They could go the Oliver Reed route.

You are turning into me Octoberist. Missing all the important words. :D

I'm liking talking to people and typing on my iPhone. On my iPhone I just cannot type correctly or think out what I want to say fully.

I never use a phone to type. I have no excuse. :csad:

Depends how crucial the scenes they had to film in those 7 days like you said.

If they're not all that important than I think they can go the Gladiator route.

To be fair, there were crucial scenes left to be filmed with Oliver Reed (namely his death scene) but they managed to pull it off.

I can't remember much of what happens to Plutarch in the last half of the book. Anyone care to jog mine (and others) memories (with spoiler tags of course)!

For that shot all they did was get a body double and used an improvised line from Reed from another scene. That's relatively simple.

If Hoffman had a whole sequence of exchanging dialogue with another actor then that would prove itself very difficult to replicate without the actual actor.
