When they were cast it was only a couple of months before filming so they didnt have time to lose that much weight.

Besides Gale is described as being muscular and Peeta is described as having a stocky build

Gale is a hunter who is fending for his family and they eat meat (illegally) so i imagine he'd be a lot stronger and healthier looking than some. he's also older than Peeta and Katniss although not by much

peeta and katniss won't look to malnourished for long anyways because once they hit the capital they get glamoured up for the viewers

i was hoping that they would be more dirty. but its normal. blockbuster make money. bloockbuster look pretty. they look sexy. young actors in this movie need to look clean to sell tickets. it is what it is.

i am still happy that they are making a movie where a female is the main character. we need more movies like this. and more franchise for women. so that male geeks canget angry . like for twilight.

Hate to be off topic but Hutcherson is built more like Tobey. While Garfield is built slimmer and more flexible. Hutcherson is more stocky like Tobey was.
