Now that is cool, he can be a fast worker so that will help the movie since it's coming out in just 7 months.

Entire production just shot up from interesting to awesome.

These actors are looking way too healthy IMO, when I read the book I always envisioned kids/teens that looked frail, they look normal and well, buff.

Jennifer Lawrence is probably the biggest culprit of the entire cast. Not only is she a bit plump, but on top of that she looks like your typical HS cheerleader. Dying her hair won't change that. Katniss is almost the antithesis of Lawrence.

The difference is Bill is written like a completely irredemable ass even in the books whereas Gale is written as a fleshed out person. Even if he is the other man you're suppose to like him and care about him.

I don't give a **** about Bill over Eric.

And as for the whole Jacob/Edward thing well both of them are creepers. So lol.

Gale is not a fleshed out character at all. He's more of a foil for Peeta. Collins turning the Hunger Games trilogy into a semi love triangle didn't work at all. The fact that Gale had feelings for Katniss is not even apparent in the first book to the point you wonder if the author didn't just throw that in at the last minute for the second book.

the problem is not Lawrence. they had enough tim to lose weight. there is just no way that the studio would have hot looking actors and made them look unhealthy.

again. i am not sainy that this will be bad as twilight. twilight is an entertaining female franchise .but this will be their twilight. the actors need to look attractive. end of story. the problem are not the actors.

you could make Lawrence lose weight and use make up to maker her look like the character from the book. but then you couldnt promote it with trailers, posters and magazines.

They didnt really have that much time to lose weight. If I remember right Lawrence was announced in March filming started in May right?

But I do agree that a studio wouldnt want malnourished looking stars for a blockbuster movie.

And people seem to keep forgetting that Gale is described in the book as being muscular and Peeta is described as being stocky. SO really the only one who should look malnourished is Katniss/Lawrence

The Hunger Games Follow-Up Catching Fire Coming Nov. 2013
Source: Lionsgate August 8, 2011

Lionsgate announced today that it will release Catching Fire, the film adaptation of the second book in Suzanne Collins' runaway bestselling "Hunger Games" trilogy, on November 22, 2013. The announcement was made by Joe Drake, co-COO of Lionsgate and President of its Motion Picture Group. No further details about Catching Fire have been confirmed at this stage.

Said Drake of the date, "The magical thing about the 'Hunger Games' trilogy is that the books have such a vastly broad appeal. The stories truly offer something for everyone, and the period around the Thanksgiving weekend is such an opportunity for families and friends to make an event of going to the movies."

The Hunger Games is currently in production and will be released on March 23, 2012. The Hunger Games is directed by Gary Ross, and produced by Nina Jacobson's Color Force in tandem with producer Jon Kilik. Alli Shearmur, President of Development and Production at Lionsgate, is overseeing the production on behalf of the studio.

2 months is IMO enough to lose 5 kg . under the control from doctors and personal trainers.

Anyone who saw Lawrence in Winter's Bone would realize that she's perfectly capable of playing Katniss. That character was no cheerleader.

The "plump" comment isn't even worth a response. :whatever:

Losing weight is not a priority for a role like this and I don't think it should be either, it'll not distract from her performance which I think she'd do just fine.

Not sure I like the idea that Catching Fire is coming out a year after, they should take their time and not rush the movies out but hey, whatever they think it's the best for the franchise.

I think your wrong on this. Gale shows slight attraction in the first book but we are not with the character long enough for it to really matter. Collins was a smart writer in this regard because we were allowed to see the world through katniss's naive eyes and that included romantic things more than anything. If we read the book through gales eyes I'm sure his feelings would come across better.

if they can use cgi to make Chris Evans tiny for Captain America, maybe they'll do some cgi/makeup here to make them look more squalorish haha

Almost every actress in hollywood is gaunt and "unhealthy" looking. What are you talking about? Kristen Stewart looked fine in promotional ads and posters. So does Emma Watson and a host of other actresses. Angelina Jolie looks like she has cancer for pete's sake.

Perhaps you don't think it worthy of a response, because you're know I'm right, and realize that a character who is supposed to be malnourished shouldn't be played by someone that still has baby fat on them.

The core premise of the film is about winning a contest called the "Hunger Games." I'd say losing weight is a priority.

And yet, she's probably the most healthy looking of the bunch with her plump cheeks and glowing skin, lol.

Nope, it's not and neither is it a contest if you're force to participate in it. Losing weight for the Hunger Games doesn't have any effect on whether you'll have the chance to win or not. However being skilled helps, like Katniss being good in archery, hunting and overall her outdoor surviving skills.

A year later CF is coming out? Yeah, any hope I had for this is going down the drain. I just hope the first movie isn't bad. It's my favorite one out of the series.

Well I like the HP movies and many of them came a year after the previous movie so Im not gonna write off the sequels. It depends on the talent for me

However, even though I like the whole series, IM worried how they'll handle Catching Fire and Mocking Jay. They werent as plot driven as the first book.

Hmmm that's not really all that big of deal Lord of the Rings movies came out every year so did Harry Potter films. For all we know they could start shooting after the 1st movie is released that would give them plenty of time to put the 2nd movie together.

^Actually LOTR movies were filmed all at once so no rush. The Potter films came out about every year and half. If they start working as soon as the first comes out, there's not really any rush if you already have a script. Only reason they announced the second movie already is that they are hoping this is a hit, if it doesn't do well then there's no loss.

You give your own opinion far too much credit.

I think it's nonsense because she's an actress not only more than capable of the role - she essentially played it before in Winter's Bone. That character was starving too, and she played it just fine.

I don't think she's "plump", and frankly it's a silly complaint to obsess over.

katniss and gale shouldn't technically really be malnourished as everyone else ideally right? after all they're secretly hunting and eating meat. just a wild idea.

also, once all tributes get to the capital, they are 'pretty-fied" to look more appealing to the audience. who's to say we won't see them looking more gaunt and ragged early on? i know kids who are rail thin with plump faces, so that doesn't bother me much.

Exactly. Plus, in addition to the hunting, Gale and Katniss were always adding their names to the reaping extra times every year so they could get the extra tesserae so their families wouldn't starve. And they had Prim's goat to make milk and cheese. They didn't have a lot, but they weren't starving to the point where they would look severely malnourished.

Peeta grew up in a bakery. He didn't go hungry either.
