The Hunger Games

Oh man, I'm inclined to say the same at this point although it's tight. It's certainly my most anticipated movie.

Trailer looks really good. Looking forward to it. :yay:

I think it's pretty obvious the next trailer (in January?) will be more action-oriented. Everyone was afraid this was going to look like another Twilight series and it doesn't. Not only that, they didn't play up any of the "romance" in the trailer. They could have used that to their full potential if they wanted to, but they didn't.

@Babs Gordon and dddeeee
Whoa, really? That's surprising to hear, considering all of the great movies coming out.

Exactly. See twilight and the hunger games are very different things. Hunger games has well.... a good story and doesnt dwell on a stupid choice throught out the book. Hunger games is about survival and rebellion and love you know ? I cant wait.

Twilight was the furthest thing from my mind while viewing the trailer.

I honestly think that, at this point, people can't help but think of Twilight when they see teenage characters. No matter what it is. It's Twilight.

Which is ridiculous, because this looked absolutely nothing like Twilight.

^funny because something comic fans love like x men has always had tons of teen romance

So I've been doing some investigation.

Looks like we're going to have some flashbacks of Katniss' father.

Also looks like they're including at least a little bit on Lavinia the Avox girl.

They will also certainly feature the hob as the cast list is suggesting.

The issue (and I'm not saying that there is one yet) is not based on teenage characters. It's the format used for teenage characters.

Well, I will say this: teenage crushes of all kinds exist everywhere, even in crushing dystopian futures. I don't think there's anything wrong in presenting that angle.

Finally a children's book series being adapted that is thoughtful, layered sci-fi.

New still in People magazine. Haymitch, Cinna, and Peeta.

I imagine the best way to show certain aspects of the story is to have some things that Katniss talks about happening in the past, actually happen in the present-tense. Like the Avox girl. It's right in the trailer at the beginning when the Hovercraft appears. That's something that Katniss talks about remember happening BUT I think for all intents and purposes it'll happen in the present day of her life/story.

I don't mind changes like that.

I actually think that the Anox scene would happen before the title of the movie shows up. Like Dumbledore giving Harry to his aunt's in the first film.

Love the way peeta looks. He doesnt look like he's thirty he looks young. gale on the other hand looks twenty eight.

You know, I have no problem with this. I'm a teacher and I see kids that look like grown adults all the time, especially 17 or 18 year old boys. Me on the other hand? I'm 29 and constantly mistaken for a teenager.

could be worse. in my experience its usually preferable to be thought of as looking younger. I'm 31 and last year one of my students told me I looked 40. It might have been the beard.

Still the casting here is not as bad as some movies.
How old was Freddy Prince Jr when he was supposed to be playing a teenager in "she's all that"? like 26?
Look at the late Patrick Swayze in dirty dancing. He was like 34. He was great in the role, but kind of hard to believe that he would be able to pair off with a 16 year old girl.

In the teaching profession, I find that if you look young they don't give you the benefit of the doubt you deserve. This is my 8th year teaching now... I think I deserve the credit of a 29 year old! :)

Anyway, yeah, I think the casting is great for this movie, Katniss and Peeta especially.

I got carded when I was 33. I had no problem with that.

I think the casting is fine too. They both look like kids, for the most part.

I think of how Jennifer Lawrence looks as Katniss and Josh as Peeta, and I really couldn't picture them any other way.
