I'd be more concerned with how good is Hutherson since we'll be seeing him a lot more than we'll be seeing Hemsworth. For the record, I think they're both good. In that short 2 minutes, I really liked the dialogue between the characters, everything felt pretty natural. It's impossible to have more charisma than Chris Hemsworth, that guy just oozes charm without trying.
Can't say I share the same feelings. Personality and charisma aren't words I'd associate with Hemsworth Jr. His brother on the other hand absolutely, but just like you guys that's just my humble opinion. I essentially feel the same way about Jr the way you guys feel about Hutcherson.
Gale in the books to me really is just supposed to be something to look at, very much so in the first book, but I feel that Liam will be servicable in the role. He is tall, handsome and has a good glare. He is hardly in the first book after the reaping and as long as he is ready to dive into the role come books 2 & 3 I think we will be okay.
Hush I see what you're saying and that makes sense, I guess I never thought of it like that which makes me like the ending a bit more. I'm glad they didn't show any of the games. Honestly there isn't that much action during the games, The whole time during the games its incredibly tension filled but there isn't that much action and when there is, its in short bursts. There really isn't too much you can or should show in a trailer.
I love the first 10 minutes of Trek and think that it has one of the best opening 10 minutes in a big budget blockbuster. It is just beyond amazing to me. Now, I really like the whole movie and borderline love it but it has too many flaws for me to officially count it as a great film. Particularly that script. Still Abrams and the great cast saved it and managed to bring us a damn good movie.

I think it was an excellent decision on their part. The point of a trailer is to give the premise, which it did-- dystopian future, poor people slave to the whims of the very rich, we're gonna take your kids and make em fight to the death!!! It's obvious that there's going to be a lot of action. This sets the tone for the world that the violence is a product of. It sets the scene. It makes you hungry for more.
Are you merely upset because you wanted to see violence now now now instead of being patient?
This movie will be nothing like Twilight because it will be good. It never gets over the top violent or anything but there is definitely plenty of violence and most of it is important and would not be able to be cut out.
I like to think that the rating association took into account that LOTR's is a classic book series that is being adapted for the masses and would in the future be looked upon at one of the greatest film trilogies of all time. Therefore didn't grade it too hard when it came to violence because in Return of the King you have severed heads flying over the wall of Minas Tirith. That said I hope they take a similar approach with Hunger Games.
Perhaps... there are some notably violent scenes that leap to mind: the death of Boromir, when Frodo gets stingered by the spider, etc etc.
Still, much of the worst violence should take place off screen-- that is, unless they are going to be following the careers around in the arena, abandoning Katniss as the sole POV in there.
I don't think we will get that but then again I didn't think they would actually veer from Harry, Ron and Hermione and they did in Harry Potter so who the hell knows.
It's an opportunity anyway. I really, really hope they use the possibilities of medium to bring a lot of the other parts of the story to life (like how District 12 is reacting to what's on screen).
After watching the trailer a few more times, I've changed my mind about it. I love it. Not just like it, love it.
The emotions were the focal point in the trailer. They could have focused on this "forbidden love triangle" and spruced it up front and center in the trailer if they wanted to, but they didn't. Nor should they. I mean, wasn't that the biggest fear everyone had with this movie? Was that they were gonna make the romance the most important aspect of the story? They had the golden opportunity to do that now, since it'll be shown in front of Twilight, but they didn't do that.
All the people complaining about the lack of action........just wait. That's what they want you to do. Wait. It's coming. And whatever they have planned for us, they don't want spoiled.
I really think this might (finally) be the film that many ppl take notice of Josh H. I think he's had this a long time coming.
Also, I mentioned this before, but no one seemed to have replied. I can already spot a couple changes from the book to movie version :
The bag Katniss picks up in the arena isn't orange.
And Madge doesn't give Katniss the Mockingjay pin, her sister Prim does.
The central theme in the book is survival and I hope that will be the central theme of the movie. The love story is a device of the survival in this book... that's what makes it good. I really can't wait

Since there minor changes I don't really care. Especially about color. And the other change is like Neville giving Harry Gilliweed instead of Dobby. So I don't care. Everything else looks pretty accurate.
