I'm going to see it because I thought the first film was OK, and I liked Theron as that character.
However, the story looks quite disjointed and really rough. I'm not sure what they are going for here.
Here is what I honestly think though. I think if they were going to try and make this a franchise, they should've tried to continue after the first film instead of a sequel. I thought it was more interesting to explore a forbidden romance between the Huntsman and Snow White and maybe a love triangle with the other kid instead of this confusing prequel. Ravenna gets resurrected, so now they have to face Ravenna and Freya. That's kinda interesting IMHO.
For all the hate Kristen Stewart gets, I would've been on board, even though I'm not sure it would've done all that well either. Why? I thought the Snow White/Huntsman romance angle was the most interesting thing about this whole scenario but the first film didn't pursue it. If there was another one, that's the area I wanted to see the sequel go. The expectation that only royalty can marry other royalty or nobles and not common born. But maybe Snow White loves this Huntsman more?
Now no idea if Stewart would've turned down a sequel or not, but she was basically the hero and main character of the first one. She defeated and killed Queen Ravenna. To suddenly write her out like this IMHO is a little mean-spirited.
