The Huntsman: Winter's War

This looks like it is going to be a disaster.

Yes it does. This is one of those movies I will probably end up watching at some point for the cast, and literally no other reason.

I'm going to see it because I thought the first film was OK, and I liked Theron as that character.

However, the story looks quite disjointed and really rough. I'm not sure what they are going for here.

Here is what I honestly think though. I think if they were going to try and make this a franchise, they should've tried to continue after the first film instead of a prequel. I thought it was more interesting to explore a forbidden romance between the Huntsman and Snow White and maybe a love triangle with the other kid instead of this confusing prequel. Ravenna gets resurrected, so now they have to face Ravenna and Freya. That's kinda interesting IMHO.

For all the hate Kristen Stewart gets, I would've been on board, even though I'm not sure it would've done all that well either. Why? I thought the Snow White/Huntsman romance angle was the most interesting thing about this whole scenario but the first film didn't pursue it. If there was another one, that's the area I wanted to see the sequel go. The expectation that only royalty can marry other royalty or nobles and not common born. But maybe Snow White loves this Huntsman more?

Now no idea if Stewart would've turned down a sequel or not, but she was basically the hero and main character of the first one. She defeated and killed Queen Ravenna. To suddenly write her out like this IMHO is a little mean-spirited.

I am completely with you here, especially with how the first film ended. It hinted at something coming between the two. It was for me the most interesting aspect of the first film.

Not that I'm defending it, but I'm pretty sure everyone in the cast has done worse movies than this save for maybe Chastain.

Theron signed up again because she got offered more money that would make appearances out of her wazoo, Blunt get's to play a villainous role and ride to war on a polar bear and Chastain signs up for anything that arrives in her mailbox.

The new trailer ok with some decent SFX, but it does seem to give away a big plot turn.

Nice trailer but liked the first one more.

Did I mention that I'm here for the ladies only?

How I picked half of my viewing in the mid-90's. :woot:

That must be one high maintenance mailbox.

There is also an extended TV spot out there with more new scenes.

Is it possible they could've completely changed the whole third act in post-production? The first trailer clearly shows Freya and Ravenna teaming up. Now they are at war with each other.

Also what happened to Ravenna's brother?

Thanks for the fix.

They should have never had that guy's voiceover say it's a prequel. There are so many people confused about the plot that now say there is no purpose in watching the movie because they already know the outcome.

I think the sisters will briefly team up. Seems like Freya doesn't know it was her sister who killed her baby but it seems to come out after Freya resurrects Ravenna (as seen in the TV Spot). Once that happens Freya will turn against her sister and team up with Team!Huntsman.

That is true. But for me, it is the combination. They got all this talent and then did this.

What's with the Chastain will sign on for anything talk? She's in a lot of stuff, but they're all quality projects.

My post wasn't a response to yours or anyone's Majik. I was simply stating my opinion. :yay:

I get that, it's just the same unnecessary type of postings that are annoying.

"I have no interest in in this but I'm coming to the thread to post about it!"

Like it literally makes no sense.

That's fine, nobody has to enjoy my responses to trailers. Certainly I'm not going to stop commenting on different trailers if I feel like it though.
