The Huntsman: Winter's War

Why is Chastain in this?

She seems above this sort of thing.

Then again I could say the same about Theron.
Actors want to get paid. It's like Ben Affleck says. You do the safe picture, then you do the art picture.

Doing a movie like this gets them a big paycheck and then they might have more freedom to take time to do some plumb dramatic roles in lower budget films.

Also, keep in mind that these actors have powerful agents and managers who also want to get paid as well and probably persuade them to take some of these film roles.

Also Chastain's career didn't really pick up until the last few years. And then she still appeared in a B horror movie like Mama.

I'm guessing it's a combination of $$$ and getting a chance to play dress up with actresses they've been wanting to work and hang out with.

And look, the first movie wasn't terrible. Theron probably had fun playing this extravagant evil queen with lots of great outfits. Plus she gets paid tons of money for this role.

So she can do this once every few years and then do all the dramatic fare she wants, do all the charity work she wants, etc.

Or a comedy with Seth MacFarlane.

I bet anything that this has been Chastain's highest pay check. Heh.

Theron really got paid with this.

Also, Frank Darabont wrote this screenplay, so there's hope.

They are going with Darabont's take on the prequel...so in other words...it's sort of because of him they are keeping the focus on the Huntsman and writing out Snow White entirely.

I wonder who got a bigger paycheck... Blunt or Chastain? I'm guessing Blunt.

It confuses me because the first movie only made $396 million worldwide. It cost like $170 million to make and only made about $155 million domestically. So they probably broke even, but probably not by a lot.

The demand for another film wasn't exactly high, so I'm not sure why they are moving forward with this.

The sequel I want, for a movie I liked, with a cast I like having fun.

Can't wait.

Long before the evil Queen Ravenna (Theron) was thought vanquished by Snow White’s blade, she watched silently as her sister, Freya (Blunt), suffered a heartbreaking betrayal and fled their kingdom. With Freya’s ability to freeze any enemy, the young ice queen has spent decades in a remote wintry palace...

Okay, so the first was action Snow White, this is action Frozen? :o

Well, odds are Blunt's Freya will be closer to the character of the Snow Queen than Elsa in Frozen was.

Can anyone answer me this. In the first movie, did it seem like the Huntsman had met Ravenna before? I forget if it seemed like they had a pre-existing relationship. I can see why Ravenna and Finn knew of him.

However, honestly, the connection with Finn killing Huntsman's wife seemed forced and contrived at the time.

Agreed. Perhaps she didn't want to come back but everything I've read about this film makes it sound like they gave her the boot.

Yay. More preferential treatment of actors over actresses. You're so progressive and liberal Hollywood. :o

It's like Rapace not coming back for Alien with Fassbender remaining. Granted we don't know if she'll be in it or even if she wanted to come back, scheduling, etc, but the fact that the male characters seem to always remain despite everything is a strange that we've seen in pattern time and time again.

That's what I don't understand.

Everyone is screaming about lack of diversity in the MCU, but here's this movie the female lead from a Snow White franchise to make the white male dude the main star.

Yeah, that's what it sounds like.

Anyway, I think this going to bomb. Hemsworth isn't a box office draw outside of Thor movies and while I love all the actresses, I'm not sure this is really going to interest people unless the trailers make it look awesome. The first one at least had the familiar Snow White story. But while people know the Huntsman character to an extent, he's not as familiar. And let's face it... people want to see characters they know and love (Bond, Batman, etc.) and won't go for something fresh and new unless it's really, really good. And I can say with almost absolutely certainty that this film will be pretty far from that.

You are just being a SJW. Stop it. :o

:lmao:

Didn't they kick Stewart out because of the whole sleeping-with-the-director debacle?

How many siblings does Ravenna have? Didn't she have a brother in the first film?

It does feel like a trend of "even if she's a list, a chick is still replaceable".

I guess she has at least two now. Finn was her brother in the first film, and he claimed he murdered the Huntsman's wife.
