I want to make a thread for all the hardcore Texas Hold Em' Poker players out there on the Hype.

This thread will be dedicated to,

Sharing stories of your past games.

Giving any tips or tell tales you have

Who your favourite Pro players are, etc.

I was in a tournament last night, two tables, 15,000 chips. I managed to scrape into the final table with a short stack. Was playing fairly safe, considering I was over stacked by most of the remaining players. Managed to double up with A K two pair suited. It was me and some guy left who had a major chip lead, I went all in with pocket 10s, he had Q 8. The flop came: 4 6 8 (good so far) K on turn (still good) andddd the Q came up on river.

I couldn't really complain losing with my 10s, it was really the only move considering my short stack. Those 2 pairs are killers!

MY best memory of playing Texas Hold Em was at my college. It was one of the first nights up there and me and a few friends decided to play poker at around 11:00 pm. We ended playing until 6:30 am. It got to the point where we were so tired that we didn't feel like shuffling anymore. One my great moments at college so far.

I've only ever played in friendly games, usually $5 buy ins. Anyway, I'm known for going all-in with my favorite starting hand: Jack/4. Why Jack 4? Well I won't go into unless somebody asks.

For whatever reason, as ridiculous weak a hand it is, I almost never lose with it. My friends always get pissed saying it's bush league. Whatever. I just believe in my cards. The most ridiculous incident was in a heads-up when I called an all-in, pre-flop, with J4 and he had pocket Aces. I end up making a one card straight on the river 7-J. I laughed my ass off while the other guy immediately left the table.

Ye, they can go on for a while, I was there last night till 5 in the morning. I had to leave for work at 6. It can be the most intense yet intriguing game when it's good, thats why it rarely feels like your playing as long as you actually are.

Yeah, I do it every other weekend over here in the Chicago area. There are no casinos on land, just umpteen riverboat casinos on the lake. Good times, indeed. Some people do not know how to play though, really...and end up ****ing themselves up by hand's end.

Everyone has their favourite pair of cards, and it's never bullets (AA). It's generally obscure hands. Mine is 4 5 suited (usually spades).

One of the serious issues with playing players lower in skill to you, is they're plays are so sporadic and so irrational that they either 1) Steal the pot, 2) Get very lucky with the community cards. I hate playing with fish.

I thought this was gonna be like a Pogo or Yahoo games thing or something oh well

I'm going to try once a week (Friday), to post some form of tip. Today is going to be a tell tale tip.

One of the best moves a player can do when recieving their pocket cards is to wait to look at yours until it comes around to your move. This allows you to observe your opponents body language to see the strength of their hand. A common way to identify the strength of your opponents hand is to watch how close they sit to the table/their cards. If a player looks at his cards and leans foward, it's a good sign to show they've got a strong hand, if they lean back, that indicates that they're not feeling their hand.

One time, Dog Lips vomited all over our poker game.

This si a nice thread. I have a weekly poker game at my place. We play one round of hold'em and one round of dealer's choie in order to mix it up.

The tip above is a very good one.

It's great to have a weekly poker game with friends. Every week I play a 10 player hold em sit and go, at Pizza Hut. I'm good friends with the owner, so after the resturant closes, we bring down the poker table and play. It's £5 buy in and the winner takes most of it.

Now there's a connection

^ Your telling me. Free pizza, a big room where top guys and hot girls can come and smoke and play some poker. It doesn't get much better.

I'm actually going to the casino in a couple of hours to play for the day. I go usually once a week and just do the 1-2 NL holdem. My roll is getting better so I might go to the 5-10 table in a couple weeks if I do well enough to finance it.

Remember, be the last to look at your cards

It sounds stupid, but the best way to improve is to lose hands. You'll learn a great deal more from seeing where you went wrong and what people are willing to call etc than just winning hands by large bluffs.

Really? interesting.
I noramlly stay in for a while I always start off bad though, but still learning about all the different hands you can make.

The cards you have are irrelevant, it's how you play them thats important, you could have bullets but if you don't know how to play them you could make only a small pot or even worse lose with them. You have to learn how to efficiently slow play, and whens the right time to do it.

I have luck with 4/5 suited as well. My good luck hand is Q/10.

Why is that?

So you can get tells off others, and others have a hard time getting tells off you. I advise that you olny look at your cards when it is your turn to act.
