I have never heard of Mark Ruffalo before this but I think he could do a good job and hope so. I think Norton is a bit overrated personally.

You *didn't* say anything about financial gain; I did. My point was, making the Hulk look more like Mark Ruffalo isn't going to improve the movie...it's not going to make it more financially successful...and it's not going to cause audiences to like it more......
...so why do it?

To make it look like the actor more. I could flip the question that you asked, you're right it's not going to improve the movie or make it financially better, so who exactly are we hurting by making Hulk look more like Ruffalo? They managed to do it with Gollum in LOTR to make him resemble Andy Serkis, they had an entirely different Gollum at one stage that got a total redesign midway through production.

Instead of using budget money to redesign the Hulk, just use the awesome-looking design they already have.

No artist in comic book history ever has, so why start now?

Because it's a movie and little details like making the monster look like the actor make it all the more richer and give it more believability, something comic books cannot do due to the nature of the medium. Seriously, the CGI for Hulk is probably gonna have to be rebuilt anyway from the ground up given the advancement in technology since TIH, you're not going to be wasting money, so it's not that big an issue and I'm seriously not sure why you're opposed to it when it does no harm.

Well if they follow the original reasons why the Avengers finally got together then Loki would dupe Thor into fighting Hulk. They'd realise they were duped then all go after Loki (Hulk included).

Not sure how they intend going with the movie though. So far the 'Avengers Inititative' is being set up as a Shield run thing. Though I can see Stark accepting a 'consultant' role, and Cap, Widow & Hawkeye all signing up with Shield (Widow already has), both Thor and Banner (as he was presented in TIH) would be the hardest to talk into joining.

Another bonus if they did go the Loki route is they would have to show the Hulk's personality. He decides to go after Loki, and isn't just a survival mechanism reacting to whatever threat forces Banner to change.

Thor's being a God should never make him the winner by default and it depends on the writers whim who would win, but here's how I see it: Starting off, Thor is the stronger, but it doesn't take long for the Hulk to get mad enough to be stronger than Thor, so if they just went toe to toe and pounded on each other Hulk would win. However, Thor's hammer and fighting skills equal the odds back up again, so the fight could go on for some time, but eventually, assuming Thor would be trying to best Hulk physically (warriors code and all that) Hulk would still win: Once he gets going the Hulk doesn't get tired, he heals super fast, he is relentless. Thor would get tired, he'd be in pain from injuries inflicted, etc.

That being said, Thor's hammer (in the books at any rate) has more power to it than just allowing him to fly and control the weather. He can open up dimensional portals and such as well. In theory he could open one up and have the Hulk whisked away to the back of beyond and the fights over there and then. He has never deliberately done that (afaik) to defeat a foe because of his own code of honour (plus it wouldn't make for much of a story if he can just have any foe he is in trouble with whisked away like that).

I'd like to see Thor win. I don't think Loki needs to control Hulk for him to fight Thor either. Maybe when SHIELD and Thor and Fury go to extract Banner wherever he is hiding out, he turns and battles the SHIELD agents and Thor because well, Banner thinks they're trying to kill him and doesn't trust them.

Whenever someone says "Loki controlling Hulk", are they talking about Loki putting on the mind-whammy, or Loki using trickery and deceit to manipulate Hulk? Because the latter to me seems more in line with Loki's schtick, but for some reason I've been assuming mind control.

Agreed. It makes for a better story if there is a plot to uncover and not just a remote contol Hulk.

Though I don't want the whole film to be 'stop the Hulk' or that he's the sole villain for the majority. I'd like to see him actually join the Avengers and go after Loki, who I would hope at least has henchman or two. Preferably ones the fans will know.

Thor has a limit to how strong he is. He starts off naturally being the stronger but, as we all know, the madder Hulk gets, etc..Hulks 'limit' increases with his rage.

Now Thor has his own strength boosts as well: Belt of strength and gauntlets for example, but even with these he will hit an ultimate limit where he go can simply go no further. Hulk doesn't have any limit. In battle he is simply relentlessness, and unless he is put down fast (before he gets mad enough to overcome anything anyone can hit him with) then whoever is on the receiving end, God or not, they are in trouble.

That's one of the things I love about the Hulk. For all the power and sophistication other Marvel characters may have he is such a wild card in how fights can go. Take him him out fast or be preprared for a fight of your life. When he yells "Strongest one there is!!' it is not an idle boast

Yeah, I saw that. It's just I don't buy a God losing to Hulk. Hulk can sill kick his ass, but lose a battle? Or is Hulk so damn strong he matches that of a God's strength? Since Thor is a God and otherworldly, I thought his powers would outdo anyone. But then again, Hulk's stregth isn't easy to come by either.

Agreed--and it's made even worse when you watch the other part of the DVD, which has Wolverine--a guy with human strength--giving the Hulk fits! WTF?!

Being stronger than someone doesn't mean you automatically win in a fight.

Post 3 lines you'd like to see, or would guess will appear in the movie at some point, spoken by the Hulk.

"Hulk hate metal man."

"Hulk smash puny thunder God!"

"Hulk has (or) needs no friends..."

And just in case they're taking inspiration from Michael Bay and his 'humour'....

"Hulk have gas!" - Admittedly that's unlikely.......

I would love a little exchange between Hulk and the other Avengers with Hulk ordering them.
