Now...if for once...at the 4th attempt...they actually remember he is a talking character and not just a grunting plot device we might finally get a really good representation of the Hulk.
For me TIH has been the closest Hulk so far (we got a "Hulk Smash" out of him at least) but still lacking in terms of the actual personality (might not be much to it in some eyes, but he does have one). In Avengers, if (after several blows between them) he clobbers Thor hard enough to bring him to his knees and yells "Hulk is the strongest one there is!!" I would love it no end. Maybe that's just me tho...![]()
Only those who haven't read the comic would claim the Hulk doesn't have a personality. (i.e. those poor souls who think the TV and movie Hulks are all there is to him)
Ok, so we're partly talking Hulk dialogue.
Post 3 lines you'd like to see, or would guess will appear in the movie at some point, spoken by the Hulk.
"Hulk hate metal man."
"Hulk smash puny thunder God!"
"Hulk has (or) needs no friends..."
And just in case they're taking inspiration from Michael Bay and his 'humour'....
"Hulk have gas!" - Admittedly that's unlikely.......
LOL@the Michael Bay thing.
How many sentences? It can't be too much. He can't sound like Caesar or anything. Hulk is a brute so his voice should be the same as in the films. I just can't see him speaking in more words would work very well. That kind of neanderthal voice has been parodied numerous times throughout culture. I prefer the Hulk to do more with his actions rather than speak, and only says something when he needs to or to sound badass. Short and sweet.
It sure worked for Gollum. Jackson knew how you make an animated character work.
They have to get the voice right of course. The overly "angry all the time" voice from the recent animations seemed over the top to me. He sure wouldn't talk to Betty that way. And I hate the way they used "Huuuulk Sssmaaash!!!". Just have him say it...short and sweet and then smash whatever he was going to smash. It sounds dumb when they draw it out during a big "wind-up" or something.
Something else that occurred to me...speaking of Jackson. He spent 207 million on King Kong. This was a 3+ hour movie in 2005. Marvel spent 150 million for a 1 hour 54 minute TIH in 2008.
I'm not seeing anything here that makes me think they can't afford to put the Hulk onscreen enough to develop his character. It actually looks like Jackson got more out of his money since he was actually able to feature his title character much more 3 years earlier...and the consensus was that the effects in King Kong were better. Someone at Marvel was being ripped off (due to being new to the business perhaps?).
Maybe Marvel should hire Jackson? He spent 94 million in 2003 to make Gollum a real character (among other things in that movie) in Return of the King. That same year 137 million was spent on Hulk to give us another Incredible Bruce Banner.
Sheesh...hire Jackson and you can have the Hulk onscreen the whole movie for the same price.
