once he changes he doesnt even have to resemble the actor spot on.
I think he SHOULD NOT resemble Banner.
He *never* has in the comic.
Before the world knew that Banner was the Hulk, NEVER did anyone look at the Hulk and say, "You know what...he kinda looks like that guy Dr. Bruce Banner! Do you see a resemblance? I do!"
No one ever looked at Banner and said, "Hey, has anyone ever told you that you look like the incredible Hulk?"
So....why make him resemble Banner in the movie? It's just a waste of time and budget and is not only unnecessary, but it is diametrically opposed to 50 years of published material. Instead, use that time and money to make the Hulk look even more realistic than he did in T.I.H.

Yep, albeit with a VERY similar design because TIH's Hulk design was ace.![]()
Has Whedon ever stated what runs (if any) he liked from the Hulks history?

Ah, I'm reminded of one scene in TIH that to me seemed a terriblly missed opportunity. In the cave when Betty calls Hulk Bruce, he should've truned to her with a fairly annoyed look on his face and said, "No...not Bruce. Never Bruce."
What Whedon has stated in an old Wizard Magazine article, was that he didn't get the appeal of the Hulk, that he didn't find him visceral, or something to that effect.
As you can tell I'm not too thrilled with the idea he's directing the movie.
idea for a great scene.
thor, cap and iron manm are fighting the hulk.
iron man is all like "sorry bruce but this is for your own good"
and thor will say something about how hulk is a troll.
cap will at first be at the side lines watching and then say "what? you mean this thing is/was a person"
fury informs him that bruce became the hulk after trying to replicate the super soldier serum.
then cap would go "Dr, Banner, my name is Steve Rogers..."
"NO BANNER, JUST HULK"
then cap will go "okay, hulk, listen to me..."
i think something along those lines will help the audience understand the whole hulk is his own person thing and it will show the extreme noble side of steve since he is the only one smart enough to talk to the hulk rather than shoot him with laser hammers.
