The Avengers The "I Believe In Mark Ruffalo!" Support Thread

mark ruffalo as the hulk...yes.... i posted it already in other thread's :o...call it spam :whatever:

it was too much fun doing it so i dont mind :word:

The incredibly constipated Hulk.

personally, im excited to see hulk again. as far as the actor being changed, its not a big dealas long as they dont make it as such. hes playing a character so as long as the events in the avengers make sense for where the hulk comes in for this film from the ending of tih, i'll be happy.

also, ive heard that hulk may have chest hair...i seriously hope not. what im concerned about is how he looks. im really wanting them not to alter what we saw in tih. of course they are going to mimic ruffalos face and expressions but i just hope when there is a side-by-side comparison of the two from this series it wont be dramatically different. imo, once he changes he doesnt even have to resemble the actor spot on. they keep the color and the intensity of his angry face and im good

I think he SHOULD NOT resemble Banner.
He *never* has in the comic.
Before the world knew that Banner was the Hulk, NEVER did anyone look at the Hulk and say, "You know what...he kinda looks like that guy Dr. Bruce Banner! Do you see a resemblance? I do!"

No one ever looked at Banner and said, "Hey, has anyone ever told you that you look like the incredible Hulk?"

So....why make him resemble Banner in the movie? It's just a waste of time and budget and is not only unnecessary, but it is diametrically opposed to 50 years of published material. Instead, use that time and money to make the Hulk look even more realistic than he did in T.I.H.

I...want............POWWWERRRRR!!!! Unlim-i-ted....POWWWERRRRRR!!!!!

After seeing on how Thor was able to reuse the post credit scene from Iron Man 2 into its own film for narrative purposes, along with getting a better idea on where the final scene of TIH (Bruce Banner in a cabin) may have taken place at, I wonder if we could expect to see Josh recreate the final Bruce Banner scene for Mark in the Avengers if they plan on having the events of the film take place very closely to when bruce is about to gain some control over the Hulk?

I really kind of hope Bruce is still in the cabin in this film. Think of a cool action scene of them showing up to the cabin and him turning into Hulk and having to battle the others. Then they take him.

I'd be cool to follow Banner because obviously he would need supplies to live. Maybe Barton can be undercover and be disguised as a clerk at the grocery store in the nearest town like ten miles away.

A great introduction would be him jogging through the forest in the mountains near the cabin or something. We first think he is escaping from something or someone, but then we realize he's just jogging. He's controlled his heart rate and it seems he's controlled the Hulk. But he's still careful and of making sure he's always alone. He still takes the same precautions.

that'd be cool a way to see a intro for Banner And it would be awesome to see a Fight with the Avengers and Thor vs the Hulk in the Cabin/woods area

idea for a great scene.

thor, cap and iron manm are fighting the hulk.

iron man is all like "sorry bruce but this is for your own good"
and thor will say something about how hulk is a troll.

cap will at first be at the side lines watching and then say "what? you mean this thing is/was a person"

fury informs him that bruce became the hulk after trying to replicate the super soldier serum.

then cap would go "Dr, Banner, my name is Steve Rogers..."

"NO BANNER, JUST HULK"
then cap will go "okay, hulk, listen to me..."

i think something along those lines will help the audience understand the whole hulk is his own person thing and it will show the extreme noble side of steve since he is the only one smart enough to talk to the hulk rather than shoot him with laser hammers.

Yep, albeit with a VERY similar design because TIH's Hulk design was ace.

Has Whedon ever stated what runs (if any) he liked from the Hulks history?

The runs Hulk experienced after eating too many beans! :woot:

Which is clearly not what he's experiencing here in his Incredibly constipated state:

Ah, I'm reminded of one scene in TIH that to me seemed a terriblly missed opportunity. In the cave when Betty calls Hulk Bruce, he should've truned to her with a fairly annoyed look on his face and said, "No...not Bruce. Never Bruce."

What Whedon has stated in an old Wizard Magazine article, was that he didn't get the appeal of the Hulk, that he didn't find him visceral, or something to that effect.

As you can tell I'm not too thrilled with the idea he's directing the movie.

To hear Hulk state that he isn't "puny Bruce" or that "weakling Banner"...I would have taken myself to a corner and sobbed tears of joy and satisfaction...outside the view of others of course.

^Holy crap! He really said that? Anyone know where this quote or interview can be found?

Hopefully, his views on that matter has changed since then since given on how we've heard everyone saying on how each main Avenger has their shining moments in this film, along with how Mark has described his character thus far and that we know the Hulk will be a hero/Avenger in this film instead of main menace, perhaps it's given more room to the possibility of exploring the character in ways that the previous films haven't so far.

Heck, up until this point, the Hulk has ONLY been portrayed as a beast that's been a menace to the US Government, along with hints of him being a reluctant/unexpected hero...so it'd be nice to see more layers of the character and something fresh for once.
