The Avengers The "I Believe In Mark Ruffalo!" Support Thread

When Feige said the character "would live on with a new actor" he was met with boos. Also, Edward Norton's name was met with cheers.

i still want norton but ill settle on mark i guess! :o

my question is, are they going to change the appearance of the hulk again for the 3rd time? i hope not to keep some kind of continuity.

I want a Hulk with more monstrous, neanderthal-like qualities. But that's just me I guess.

i like Mark Ruffalo

he is a fine actor and i'm sure he will do a great job as Banner/Hulk

but i still wish Ed Norton was in the film

I don't want them to change the look of the Hulk simply because I don't think it's that important to have his face look like Banner's. He's a full transformation into a large green monster looking kind of character, I don't think he needs to resemble Banner. It wouldn't make sense just like it would be ridiculous for a Werewolf's face to resemble the human form a little.

I'm cool with Ruffalo. He's got the understated Bill Bixby vibe going for him. Not sure if he would be better than Norton though, but that can't be decided until we've seen the performance. If Ruffalo turns out to be better, any hate towards Marvel or Whedon for casting him will probably dissipate.

nobody can ever top bixby in his portrayal of banner, NOBODY! but i thought norton was a close 2nd. mark to me already looks like the hulk! :awesome:

And Batman changing actors is eight years. One year ahead of Hulk switching actors. Yeah, all this **** happened, but life goes on. Business is business. But apparantly people can't get over that fact.

They should at least tweak it to make it look more like Ruffalo.

No. See, this is the mentality that leads to unnecessary changes.
In the comic, NO artist has EVER tried to make the Hulk look like Banner.
There's no need.
I don't want to see a Hulk that looks ANYTHING like Mark Ruffalo.
I want to see a Hulk that looks like THE HULK!
Huh! Imagine that!

Since we're losing the continuity of what Banner looks like,
Let's keep the continuity of what the Hulk looks like!

Yeah, I never kind of understood that Banner's likeness must be applied to the Hulk. Although I don't mind it. Aren't they suppose to be two separate beings? Hulk is a manifistation of Bruce's emotions inside of him and that explodes out of him. Mr. Hyde doesn't look anything like Jekyll.

But it doesn't matter to me. I think I saw hints of Bana in Hulk. I liked that. It was kind of an extended way of Bruce seeing through his inside's eyes and that Bruce is still there, not physically, but it could be the reverse. Bruce is inside Hulk. Although Bruce describes being the Hulk as a dream. Which fits.

I like Ruffalo as an actor and he has never dissapointed me in a movie, in fact he often impresses me, but I just dont see him as Bruce Banner, at all.

And while TIH and Norton's performance in it werent spectacular, I absolutely ****ing hate re-casts, and I am royally pissed of about this still, Feige and Marvel have been idiots IMO in all of this. Re-casts effect the movie, I couldnt even think of Cheadle being the same character as Howard in the first movie, it wasy very distracxting and in the end seemed like a totally new character, it will be the same with Ruffalo.

You seriously telling me that tweaking the character to look more like the actor is that big a deal breaker?

I'm not saying it's a deal-breaker.
I'm saying, if it ain't broke, don't fix it!
Making "tweaks" to the current Hulk design is not improving the movie at all; so why do it?
Are you seriously telling me that tweaking the character is going to improve the movie/make it more financially successful/have audiences love it more?
It will cost money, take time, and detract from the continuity of the last time audiences saw the Hulk onscreen.

Yea, I don't think Hulk's look needs to change either. I was perfectly happy with how he looked in TIH. All they need to do is improve the CGI a little bit more so he looks even better.

Where the hell did I say anything about doing it for financial gain? I simply stated I'd like to see more resemblance between character and actor, it's not that big a deal, you're making it sound like I suggested they change him to pink or something.

Now that you think about it......

Pink is a lovely color on him. :o

With 4 years passing between the last time Hulk was on screen thats bound the happen. Comparing the CGI hulks from the other two films the Hulk from TIH looks a lot more detailed than in Ang Lee's Hulk.
